The Design of Variable Structure Controller for the Systems Having the First Order Dynamic (일차 Dynamic을 갖는 계통에 대한 가변구조 제어기의 설계)

  • This paper will describe the application of variable structure control theory to the first order dynamic system and verify its robustness. The study on the first order dynamic system control which has been essential part for the control of servo motor (AC,DC) systems has been excluded in the study of variable structure control system(VSCS) because this first order system was not applicable to the previous variable structure control theory. So, for the robustness control of first order dynamic system with variable structure control theory, we propose modified switching function synthesis which guarantees the advantages of conventional VSCS and removes reaching phase which is regarded as shortcomings in VSCS. And we demonstrate the practical potential of implementation about this theory by simulation results of AC motor variable speed control.

  • More precise operation and control is required to ensure the stability and security of modern large power systems that is a complicated and widely dispersed structure. To ensure the precise operation and control of modern power system, most of all, precise monitoring and measurement of the various state values of power system is required. This paper discusses phasor measurement unit using synchronization signals from the GPS satellite system- Synchronized Phasor Measurement Unit. Considering the power system operation state, the transmitting data format over modems is defined. To provide all available information, PMU process the measurements to generate three phase symmetrical component. This paper proposes the transmitted data format and implements the PMU model using EMTP/Models. The validity of proposed model is confirmed through several contingency on the simple power system.

  • Frequency is an important operating parameter of a power system. Electric power systems sustain transient frequency swings whenever the balance between generation and load does not no longer hold. To cope with this Constraints, it requires an accurate and high speedy frequency deviation estimation technique and suitable adjustment to obtain the power system energy balance. This paper describes the design, computational aspects and implementation of an iterative technique for measuring power system. The rate change of the phase angle is used for estimation. To confirm the validity of the proposed algorithm, the simulation studies carried out on a typical 154[KV] double T/L system by using EMTP software. Some test results are presented in the paper.

  • This paper proposes a new power conditioning system for the fuel cell power generation, which consists of a LLC resonant DC-DC converter and 3-phase inverter. The LLC resonant converter boosts the fuel cell voltage of 26-48V up to 400V, using the hard-switching boost converter and the high-frequency ZVS half-bridge converter. The operation of proposed power conditioning system was verified through simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC software. The feasibility of hardware implementation was verified through experimental works with a laboratory prototype, which was built with 1.2kW PEM fuel-cell stack, 1kW LLC resonant converter, and 3kW PWM inverter. The proposed system can be utilized to commercialize a real interconnection system for the fuel-cell power generation.

  • This paper presents the digital PLL architecture and design for improving the frequency detection range and locking time for wide-band frequency synthesizer applications. In this research, a wide-range digital logic quadricorrelator is used for wide-band and fast frequency detector and sigma-delta modulator with 2-bit up-down counter is adopted for DCO control. The proposed digital PLL reduces the phase noise from quantization effect and is suitable for implementation of wide-band fast-locking as well as low power features, which is in high demand for mobile multimedia applications.

  • Dynamic optimization with partially structured model in a slurry-phase HDPE reactor is implemented by the modified hierarchical dynamic optimization.   • A recurrent artificial neural network (ANN) model is developed to simulate hydrocarbon recovery process at petroleum-contaminated site. The groundwater extraction rate, vacuum pressure, and saturation hydraulic conductivity are selected as the input variables, while the cumulative hydrocarbon recovery volume is considered as the output variable. The experimental data fer establishing the ANN model are from implementation of a multiphase flow model for dual phase remediation process under different input variable conditions. The complex nonlinear and dynamic relationship between input and output data sets are then identified through the developed ANN model. Reasonable agreements between modeling results and experimental data are observed, which reveals high effectiveness and efficiency of the neural network approach in modeling complex hydrocarbon recovery behavior.
