  • In this paper, a new filter structure to improve frequency response characteristics in CIC(Cascaded Integrator-Comb) decimation filters is proposed. Conventional filters improve passband characteristics, but they make worse slinging band characteristics. In this paper, we propose a new filter which is called IFOP(Interpolated Fourth-Order Polynomials). By using this proposed filter, passband droop and aliasing band attenuation are simultaneously improved. Since proposed filter needs only one multiplication computation is not much. And overall linear phase characteristics are maintained since the proposed filter is also linear phase. Finally, implementation cost of the proposed filter is compared with those of conventional filters.

  • A stochastic approach has been presented for superplastic deformation of Ti-6AJ-4V alloy, and probability function are used to heterogeneous phase distributions. The experimentally observed spatial correlation function are developed, and microstructural evolutions together with superplastic deformation behavior have investigated by means of the probability function. The result have shown that the probability varies approximately linearly with separation with distance, and significant deformation enhanced probability changes during the deformation. The stress-strain behavior with the evolutions of probability function can be correctly predicted by the model. The finite clement implementation using Monte Carlo simulation associated with phase re-distributions shows that better agreement with experimental data of failure strain on the test specimen.

  • In many industrial applications, multiphase flow analysis is the norm rather than an exception as compared to more-conventional single-phase investigation. This paper describes the implementation of the multiphase flow simulation capability in the general purpose CFD software AVL FIRE/SWIFT. The governing equations are discretized based on a finite volume method (FVM) suitable fur very complex geometry, The pressure field is obtained using the SIMPLE algorithm. Depending on the characteristics of the multiphase flow to be examined, the user can choose either the two-fluid model or an explicit interface-tracking model based on the Volume-of-Fluid approach. For truly 'multi'-phase flow problems, it is also possible to apply a hybrid model where certain phases are explicitly tracked while the other phases are handled by the two fluid model. In order to demonstrate the capability of the method, applications to the Taylor bubble flow simulations are presented.

  • In this paper, we propose a Neural Call Admission Control (CAC) method using a Sparse Distributed Memory(SDM). CAC is a key technology of TM network traffic control. It should be adaptable to the rapid and various changes of the ATM network environment. conventional approach to the ATM CAC requires network analysis in all cases. So, the optimal implementation is said to be very difficult. Therefore, neural approach have recently been employed. However, it does not mett the adaptability requirements. because it requires additional learning data tables and learning phase during CAC operation. We have proposed a neural network CAC method based on SDM that is more actural than conventioal approach to apply it to CAC. We compared it with previous neural network CAC method. It provides CAC with good adaptability to manage changes. Experimenatal results show that it has rapid adaptability and stability without additional learning table or learning phase.

  • This paper presents motor speed and revolution angle detection method using a sinusoidal AC tacho-generator. The 2-phase or 3-phase output tacho-generator can be adopted, and its' output voltages must have sinusoidal waveforms. Because the detection algorithm is simple, the proosed method can be implemented with analog devices or microprocessor conveniently. And the proposed method has a very short detection delay time. Especially in the analog implementation, there is no delay time without the settling time of analog devices. With the experimental results, it is verified that the proposed method can acculately detect the instantaneous motor speed and revolution angle over the wide ranges.

  • Purpose: In this paper, a Design for Six Sigma(DFSS) methodology based on DMADV(Define-Measure-Analyze-Design-Verify) roadmap is presented. Methods: DFSS tools are given for each DMADV phase which is suitable for the aircraft development process. A cost reduction case study of a navigation simulation is demonstrated. Results: DFSS roadmap are presented with implementation tools for each phase. Conclusion: We propose a DFSS methodology which can benefit the design and development personnel to implement DFSS not only in aircraft industry but also in other order-based industries in general.

  • In this study, when the coherent detector has been developed and manufactured in the receiver of radar system, we have suggested and realized the 'Frequecny-Feedback correction (FFC)' that extracts its errors affecting the performance of radar, such as amplitude imbalances (k), phase imbalance ($\varphi$) between channels and offset votlages and corrects them to improve radar performances. Applying the FFC proposed, we analyzed sthe properties of the coherent detector and compared its perfomances after and before correction procdure. After the correction sequence, the amplitude imbalance was improved upt o 2dB and the phase imbalance over 9$^{\circ}$. The image rejection ratio (IRR), one of the figures of merit of radar system, was made better above 9 dB after correcting the coherent detector which possessed 23 dB before.

  • In this paper, for phase lock loop(PLL) synthesizer, we introduce a novel but simple and low cost frequency modulation(FM) circuit of a flat peak frequency deviation for modulation signal from high to very low frequency penetrating into the loop-bandwidth of PLL. The FM circuit was basically designed to compensate an amount of feedback of the loop filter in PLL. The circuit also includes the capability of the adjustment of peak frequency deviation and blocking the interference with the loop filter. The designed circuit was successfully implemented and showed the flat frequency deviation as expected in the design.

  • This paper proposed a novel current control strategy on active power filters using p-q-r instantaneous power theory which can compensate the line current harmonics and the neutral line current in unbalanced and/or distorted source conditions in three-phase four-wire systems. The proposed current control method is based on a sinusoidal PWM for fully-digital implementation which was compared with a hysteresis PWM. Simulation results showed good performance of the proposed current control strategy on shunt type APFs.
