  • The droplet impact and merging process on a flat substrate with contact angle hysteresis is numerically studied. The droplet deformation is determined by an improved level-set method employing a sharp-interface technique for the stress condition at the liquid-gas interface and the contact angle condition at the liquid-gas-solid interline. Based on the computations, the droplet impact and merging pattern is investigated to find the optimal condition in manufacturing a micro-line. The effects of dynamic contact angles and droplet spacing on droplet motion are quantified.

  • We present a numerical simulation technique and some preliminary results of the impact and spreading of a droplet containing particles on the solid substrate in 2D. We used the 2nd-order Adams-Bashforth / Crank-Nicholson method to solve the Navier-Stokes equation and employed the level-set method with the continuous surface stress for description of droplet spreading with interfacial tension. The impact velocity has been generated by the instantaneous gravity. The distributed Lagrangian-multipliers method has been combined for the implicit treatment of rigid particles and the discontinuous Galerkin method has been used for the stabilization of the interface advection equation. We investigated the droplet spreading by the inertial force and discussed effects of the presence of particles on the spreading behavior using an example problem. We observed reduced oscillation and spread for the particulate droplet.

  • Noise and vibration generated by heavy-weight floor impact in apartment buildings were studied. The resonance frequency increased in the floor structures where damping materials were used in the living room and the bedroom. Both the acceleration wavelength and the acceleration level decreased. The results showed that the resonance frequency increased and vibration acceleration level decreased when the damping materials were used. Heavy-weight impact sound levels of the structure decreased substantially below 80Hz.

  • In this study, we compared and analyzed the floor impact noise insulation performance produced by the rating methods. The rating methods are using reversed A-weighting curve, A-weighted sound pressure levels(dB(A)). The results of this study are(1)dB(A) by the specified frequency is 0.5dB(A) at light weight and 2.5dB(A) at heavy weight upper than all pass dB(A)(2)the rating using reversed A-weighting curve is 5dB lower than dB(A)(3)the number of rating using reversed A-weighting curve mainly depends on impact noise pressure level of 63Hz in heavy weight but dB(A) does not.

  • The abnormal sound of generator frame is analyzed by a acceleration signal. The spike-like time signal is major characteristics of impacting force. The distributional map of vibration level is one of visualization method. With map, noise source was easily detected. After de_assembly of generator, loose part of internal component is the source of impact force by mechanical movement of stator inherently. In contact condition of part with clearance, the level of impact signal is different at each revolution and impact signal did not happens periodically.

  • Effective elastic constants of biomimetic multilayer structures with hierarchical structures are evaluated based on the potential energy balance method. The effective anisotropic elastic constants are used in analyzing low-velocity impact of biomimetic multilayer structures consisting of mineral and protein. It is shown that displacements of biomimetic multilayer structures strongly depend on the volume fraction of mineral and hierarchical level. The effect of the volume fraction of mineral and hierarchical level on the contact force and stresses at the impact point are also discussed.

  • In line with the advent of the 4th industrial revolution, project performance such as construction productivity and safety is being improved through the use of various smart technologies in construction projects. However, most studies focus on case analysis according to technology application, and research on performance impact and evaluation methods is insufficient. However, the performance impact of the use of smart construction technology can vary greatly depending on the capabilities and level of support of the organization using the technology. Therefore, this study aims to establish factors that affect the performance of smart construction technology utilization at the organizational level and analyze the performance impact relationship. The results of this study will provide the basis for establishing an organizational system and evaluating performance for the efficient use of smart construction technology in the future.

  • Recently much research are has been done into the compositions of lead-free solders. As a result, there has been a rapid increase in the number of new compositions. In the past, the properties of these new compositions were determined and verified through drop-impact tests. However, these drop tests were expensive and it took a long time to obtain a result. The main goal of this study was to establish an analytical method capable of predicting the impact life-time of a new solder composition for board-level flip chips though the application of drop simulations using LS-DYNA. Based on the reaction load obtain with LS-DYNA, the drop-impact fracture cycles were predicted. The study was performed using a Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu solder (305 composition). To verify the reliability of the proposed analytical method, the results of the drop-impact tests and life-time analysis were compared, and were found to be in good agreement. Thus, the new analytical method was shown to be very useful and effective.

  • Impact noise is induced in a car when it is driven on a harsh road or over some bumps. This noise occurs with the very high level of sound, which affects passengers in some way or other. Although it is impossible to clearly remove such noise, it is necessary to research an improvement in sound quality for impact noise. A new sound metric for impact sound is presented. This metric is verified by comparison between mean subjective ratings and several sound metrics. In this paper, more objective attributes are considered, which the attributes are expressing the level and modulation of sound. Three sound metrics are employed to get impact sound indexes for each course by the method of multiple linear regressions. The indexes are verified by considering the correlation between the estimated values from the multiple linear regressions and the mean subjective ratings by evaluators. Also, the subjective ratings on the indexes are estimated for the case in which some parts of suspension system are changed. The estimated ratings represent more reasonable or acceptable ratings. Thus, such indexes can be used for modification of the parts of suspension system under considering a good sound quality.

  • While earlier research reports focused on Internet addiction among adolescents, this research examines the direct/indirect impact of socio-psychological variables like stress level, self-consciousness (self-esteem, self-control, and self-efficacy), and Internet use control on Internet addiction among adults. The fact that 62.4% of survey respondents were diagnosed as Internet addicts demonstrates that this concern about Internet addiction among adults is valid. This research, first, shows the direct impact of socio-psychological variables on Internet addiction. Low self-esteem, low self-control, high self-efficacy, high levels of stress, and high Internet-use control lead to a severe level of Internet addiction. Second, self-consciousness variables mediate the impact of stress on the addiction, but the mediating role is not so significant as the direct impact. Internet-use control plays as a partial moderator between self-esteem, self-control and addiction. Internet-use control is a useful measure for Internet addition at work. In addition, businesses may take personality, as well as environmental conditions, and organizational management process into account to minimize the impact of the addiction.
