  • Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) is one of the most effective method in design of golf clubs for determination of optimum shapes in short lead time. A new design of golf club drive with gas-filled titanium head has been carried out using two FEM softwares MARC and DYNA-3D. The main research work focuses on the decision of face thickness and the effect of filled gas pressure by analyzing the change of the kinematic energy of the ball during impact.

CFRP적층재의 잔류피로굽힘강도애 미치는 열습의 영향 (Influence of Hygrothermals on Residual Fatigue Bending Strength of CFRP Composite Laminates)

  • This paper evaluates the static and fatigue bending strengths of CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) laminates subjected to hygrothermals. The specimens which had different stacking composition, orthotropic and quasi-isotropic laminated plates, were prepared for this experiment. A steel ball launched by the air gun collides against CFRP laminates to generate impact damages, and the 3-point fatigue bending test is carried out by using the impacted laminates to investigate the influence of hygrothermals on the effect on the residual bending fatigue strength of CFRP laminates.

탄성 로터의 백업베어링 충돌 시 동적 응답 해석 (Dynamic Response Analysis of a Flexible Rotor During Impact on Backup Bearings)

  • Active magnetic bearings(AMBs) present a technology which has many advantages compared to traditional bearing concepts. However, they require backup bearings in order to prevent damages in the event of a system failure. In this study, the dynamics of an AMB supported rotor during impact on backup bearings is studied employing a detailed simulation model. The backup bearings are modeled using an accurate ball bearing model, and the model for a flexible rotor system is described using the finite element approach with the component mode synthesis. Not only the influence of the support stiffness, clearance and friction coefficient on the rotor orbit, but also bearing load are compared for various rotor system parameters. Comparing these results it is shown that the optimum backup bearing system can be applicable for a specific rotor system.

SLAG 박리성 평가 방법에 대한 고찰 (A study on the evaluation method for slag detachability)

  • A method which can be used for evaluating slag detachability is proposed in this study. The proposed method was intended to get an absolute value for slag detachability, to give consistent value for a given welded joint, and finally to be simple to test. With a test fig made in this study, an impact by dropping a steel ball (13Kg in weight) is applied on the back side of an as-welded plate having a slag layer on the weld bead. Such impact applied forces the slag to drop off from the bead surface. In order to make a quantitative evaluation the amount of slag removed was measured with increasing the number of drops. Using this method six kinds of fluxes were evaluated in terms of the effects of flux type, basicity and weding variables on the slag detachability. As an initial result of this test, it was found that welding heat input affects the detachability significantly. Most importantly the evaluation made using the presently proposed method gives the same order of ranking as that of the actual practice done by a welder.

고속충격을 받는 Ti/Al 적층재의 파괴거동에 관한 연구 (A study on the fracture behavior of Ti/Al laminates under high velocity impact)

  • In order to investigate the effect of face material on Ti/Al alloy laminates under high velocity impact, a ballistic testing was conducted. Ballistic resistance of these materials was measured by protection ballistic limit($V_{50}$), a statistical velocity with 50% probability penetration. Fracture behaviors and ballistic tolerance, described by penetration modes, were respectfully observed, by $V_{50}$ test and Projectile Through Plates (PTP) test at velocities greater than $V_{50}$. PTP tests were conducted with $0^{\circ}$obliquity at room temperature using 5.56mm ball projectile. $V_{50}$ tests with $0^{\circ}$obliquity were also done with projectiles that were able to achieve near or complete penetration during PTP tests. Resistance to penetration, and penetration modes which face material was Titanium alloy, were compared to those which face material was anodized Al alloy after cold-rolling.

  • Recently, high-performance composite materials have been used for various industrial fields because of their superior high strength, high stiffness and lower weight. In this study, manufactured fiber reinforced metal laminate materials are composed of two parts. One is hard-anodized A15083-O alloy as a face material and the other is high strength aramid fiber (Twaron CT709) and polyethylene fiber(Dyneema HB25) laminates as a back-up material. Resistance to penetration is determined by protection ballistic limit(V$\sub$50/, a static velocity with 50% probability for complete penetration) test method. V$\sub$50/ tests with 0$^{\circ}$ obliquity at room temperature were conducted with 5.56mm ball projectiles that were able to achieve near or complete penetration during high velocity impact tests.

  • 본 연구에서는 이질, 이방성 적층 복합보(beam)의 이론적 충격 응답을 해석하 기 위하여 Sun의 고차 보 유한 요소 이론을 복합 재료 이론과 식(1)~식(3)의 접촉 법 칙을 고려하여 수정하였고, 이 중 충격 접촉력에 관하여는 각각 [90˚/45˚/90˚/-45˚ /90˚]$_{2S}$와[0˚/45˚/0˚/-45˚/0˚]$_{2S}$의 두 적층 형태를 가지는 흑연/에폭 시와 유리/에폭시 복합 재료에 대한 강구(steel ball)에 의한 충격해석을 하여, Yang 의 식에 의한 최대 접촉력과 비교 검토하였고, 다음 변형율 파형을 파동 전파(wave propagation)이론에 의해 비교 검토하므로써 이 수정된 이론의 타당성을 입증하였다.하였다.

Ballistic resistance of these materials was measured by a protection ballistic limit ($V_{50}$)' a statistical velocity with 50% probability of penetration.   • 공동주택의 천장구조는 바닥충격음을 변화시키는 영향요소중의 하나이다. 천장구조의 진동응답 특성이 바닥충격음에 영향을 주는 요소를 확인하기 위해 천장구조의 달대를 제거하여 콘크리트 슬래브의 진동이 천장구조에 전달되지 않는 무달대 천장구조를 개발하였다. 달대가 시공된 일반 천장구조와 대비하여 무달대 천장구조의 천장판 가속도와 바닥충격음 레벨을 비교하였다. 무달대 천장구조를 사용함으로서 콘크리트 슬래브의 진동이 천장구조에 전달되는 것을 절연되어 천장구조의 진동응답 증폭을 저감시킬 수 있었으며, 저주파 대역의 바닥 충격음 증폭 또한 저감시킬 수 있었다. 일반 천장구조는 100 Hz 이하에서 천장구조의 진동응답이 증폭되어 저주파 대역 바닥충격음이 증폭되었다.

  • 시험체의 공지모드를 분석하여 대형 기계용 기초 콘크리트의 두께를 측정하였다. 시험체에 강철구 자유낙하에 의한 기계적인 충격을 가하여 진동을 발생시키고, 이 진동신호를 광대역 원추형 압전 탑촉자로 수신하였다. 수신된 진동신호를 FFT를 사용하여 주파수로부터 시험체의 두께를 결정하였다. 여러 층으로 이루어진 콘크리트 블록의 경우, 이 방법으로 결정된 값은 실제의 두께와 잘 일치하였다. 또한 이 방법은 두께 측정 뿐만 아니라 경계면의 접합 상태 파악에 활용될 수 있다.
