In order to analyze the impact of fine dust generated from a construction waste intermediate processing site on the surrounding areas, diverse types of samples were collected from inside the site and surrounding areas. The impact analysis results of samples are as follows. (1) Compared to the air quality management standards by the Ministry of Environment, the concentration of fine dust within the site was 30 to 46% for PM10 and 14 to 42% for PM2.5, which was not much different from the general air quality level. (2) It was found that PM10 within the site may have a partial effect on the air quality, but when the blocking facilities in the site, wheel washing facilities at vehicle entry and exit route, and sprinkler during working were maintained, the impact on the nearby area was not high. (3) In the case of PM2.5, its concentration was influenced more by the exhaust fumes from work vehicles than fine dust generated during construction waste processing. Since the PM2.5 concentrations in the site and surrounding area were not much different from the general air quality, there was little correlation with the work impact of construction waste intermediate processing sites. (4) Pb, an indicator of heavy metal components, was within 50ng/m3 in all three sites, which was 10% of the domestic management standard and equivalent to the general air quality level. The complaints from residents in nearby areas were filed using indicators based on visual and experiential information in their daily lives, so even if the survey results of environmental impact by the construction intermediate waste processing site are lower than the standard, nearby residents can feel it better than such numerical information. Therefore, specific activities to reduce find dusts should be continuously continued.
This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of surface ozone concentration and occurrence of high ozone concentration using hourly ozone and meteorological data of 1997~1998 in Pusan coastal area. Monthly mean ozone concentration was highest in Spring(35.4ppb) and lowest in Winter(22.2ppb). Relative standard deviation indicating clearness of observation site was 0.42 that is similar to urban area. The diurnal variation of ozone concentration of Dongsamdong showed maximum at 15~16LST and minimum 07~08LST that typical pattern of ozone concentration. In ozone episode period(May 18~23, 1998), diurnal change of ozone concentration was very high, and ozone concentration was related to meteorological parameters such as temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, cloud amount and radiation on a horizontal surface.
The study is to analyze the contents of Environmental Impact Statement(EIS) and supplementary EIS prepared from 1981 to 1992. The contents are project area, project cost, EIS volume, project term, assessment term, EIS preparation cost, land use plan, and kinds of predictive model concerning air quality, water quality, noise and vibration etc. by project type. Data are collected with EIS analysis checklist and analyzed by $SPSS/PC^+$.
Mitigation measures in EIS are the important factors in the effectiveness of EIS. This paper analyzed the content of mitigation measures described in the 30 EISs selected, using 7 analysis items in order to discover the degree of effectiveness of mitigation measures. 30 EISs used in this study were selected through variance maximization strategy, and the 7 analysis items were; 1) thoroughness of mitigation content, 2) quantification of mitigation content, 3) explicit description of mitigation effect, 4) likelihood of mitigation effect, 5) impacted area of mitigation effect, 6) time frame of mitigation effect, and 7) environmental impact of mitigation measures. The results showed that the effectiveness of mitigation measures in the analyzed EISs was relatively low both in the appropriateness and in the specificity. It was suggested that in order to improve the appropriateness of EIS as a decision making tool, the effect of mitigation measures, as well as the mitigation measures themselves, should be studied and described more thoroughly and specifically.
RCAR low speed impact test estimates repair cost of the impacted vehicle. In this study, for a mid-size vehicle front body model, structural performance for RCAR low speed impact were analyzed with changing the bumper stay shape and size. First, for improving the impact load transfer mechanism to side member the stay rear section shape at connecting area with side member was modified and the stay outer was redesigned to be normal to the barrier. Next, the investigation on stay thickness effect was carried out and the performances of several models with different forming shape were compared. The final design showed 13mm decrease in the maximum barrier intrusion distance and greatly reduced side member deformation. Additional analyses explained the validity of the final design.
The compressive tests under impact conditions were performed to establish a design guide for impact damage tolerance. The composition of layup was selected for the real cases of composite aircraft structure. The energy level of visible of visible damage threshold was determined as 7 Joules. It was found that the normalized bending stiffnesses in the direction of closely fixed boundary affected the area of damage. Graphite/epoxy used in the tests exhibited 60% reduction in compression strength at the energy level of visible damage threshold. Wet-conditioned specimens represented 9% reduction in residual compressive strength in comparison with room temperature ambient specimens. In this study, a design factor of 2.1 was proposed for the low velocity impact damage.
This study suggests a new approach for identifying core robot tech-nologies based on technological cross-impact. Specifically, the approach applies data mining techniques and multi-criteria decision-making methods to the co-classification information of registered patents on the robots. First, a cross-impact matrix is constructed with the confidence values by applying association rule mining (ARM) to the co-classification information of patents. Analytic network process (ANP) is applied to the co-classification frequency matrix for deriving weights of each robot technology. Then, a technique for order performance by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) is employed to the derived cross-impact matrix and weights for identifying core robot technologies from the overall cross-impact perspective. It is expected that the proposed approach could help robot technology managers to formulate strategy and policy for technology planning of robot area.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate performance characteristics. in the success of team attack during volleyball competition. For this, real game was analyzed using S-VHS video camera for three dimensional cinematography. The contents of this research were receive to set time, set to spike time, setter moving distance, ball position during set and attacker's relative ball position during jump and spike, and open area at spike. Among the various kinematical factors considered in this study, the ball height relative spiker and open area were found to be related to offensive performance. This finding implies that although their direct impact were not significant the other factors could have indirect impact on offensive performance by increasing open area. Thus, receiver, setter, assistant attacker, and main attacker should practice for successful performance in each stage. Lastly, it is necessary to develop kinematic variables to evaluate performance characteristics of players. Further study may consider the best defense position against the attack of the opponent player.
This study has intended to analyze the nature of the errors that occur as a result of shadows during the process of NDVI calculation using high-resolution satellite images of Cheongju City, in order to calibrate such errors, and to verify the results. This study has calibrated the shadow errors by utilizing the relationship between the Greenness above Bare Soil (GRABS) calculated through Tasseled-Cap transformation and the original NDVI. To verify the accuracy of the results, this study has compared the shadow area extracted by the difference between before and after calibration of NDVI, with the original shadow area. The NDVI value converged on the value of -1.0, representing water, because shadow areas could not accept the reflection value from each band. However, after performing Tasseled-Cap transformation, the NDVI of shadow areas that had converged on -1.0 prior to calibration had increased to a level similar to the NDVI of neighboring areas. In addition, the average NDVI in general had increased from -0.08 to -0.01. Finally, the shadow area drawn out was almost matched to the original one, meaning that the NDVI calibration method employed turned out to be highly accurate in extracting shadow areas.
This study analyzed the impact of greenhouse cultivation area and groundwater level changes due to the water curtain cultivation in the greenhouse complexes. The groundwater observation data in the Miryang study area were used and classified into greenhouse and field cultivation areas to compare the groundwater impact of water curtain cultivation in the greenhouse complex. We identified the characteristics of the groundwater time series data by the terrain of the study area and selected the optimal model through time series analysis. We analyzed the time series data for each terrain's two representative groundwater observation wells. The Seasonal ARIMA model was chosen as the optimal model for riverside well, and for plain and mountain well, the ARIMA model and Seasonal ARIMA model were selected as the optimal model. A suitable prediction model is not limited to one model due to a change in a groundwater level fluctuation pattern caused by a surrounding environment change but may change over time. Therefore, it is necessary to periodically check and revise the optimal model rather than continuously applying one selected ARIMA model. Groundwater forecasting results through time series analysis can be used for sustainable groundwater resource management.
