사회적 지지와 자아존중감이 간호사의 임파워먼트에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Social Support and Self-esteem on Nurses' Empowerment)

  • Purpose: This study was done to measure the level of social support, self-esteem, and empowerment and to identify any effect of social support and self-esteem on the empowerment of nurses. Methods: The study design was a descriptive survey using questionnaires which were given to 381 nurses in C province. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regressions. Results: The mean score for nurses' empowerment was $2.83{\pm}0.66$. Seven individual characteristics, social support(family, meaningful persons, supervisors, and co-workers) and self-esteem accounted for 23.3% of the variance in nurses' empowerment. Prediction elements influencing empowerment of nurses were salary per month, self-esteem, and social support(supervisors). Conclusion: The results indicate that it is necessary to increase nurses' empowerment. Social support by supervisors and self-esteem were confirmed as important factors to increase nurses' empowerment. In addition, raising the monthly average income would increase empowerment of nurses.

폭발하중을 받는 보강판 구조물의 간이 해석법에 대한 실용성 검토 (A Review on Practical Use of Simple Analysis Method based on SDOF Model for the Stiffened Plate Structures subjected to Blast Loads)

  • The offshore installation units may be subjected to various accidental loads such as collision from supply vessels, impact from dropped objects, blast load from gas explosion and thermal load from fire. This paper deals with the design and strength evaluation method of the stiffened plate structures in response to a blast load caused by a gas explosion accident. It is a comprehensive review of various items used in actual project such as the size and type of the explosive loads, general design procedure/concept and analysis method. The structural analyses using simple analysis methods based on SDOF model and nonlinear finite element analysis are applied to the particular FPSO project. Also validation studies on the design guidance given by simple analysis method based on SDOF model have also considered several items such as backpressure effects, material behavior and duration time of the overpressure. A good correlation between the prediction made by simple analysis method based on SDOF model and nonlinear finite element analysis can be generally obtained up to the elastic limit.

일부지역의 구강관리용품 사용에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Influential factors for the use of oral hygiene supplies in metropolitan area)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate influential factors for the use of oral hygiene supplies with a view to give the right directions for related oral health education. Methods : Subjects were recruited in dental clinics in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Questionnaire data were carried out from June 1 to August 31, 2012. Results : 1. The awareness towards oral hygiene supplies revealed a mean of $5.46{\pm}3.87$ out of 14 points. Familiarity with the oral hygiene supplies was $2.62{\pm}2.66$ and that of oral hygiene supplies was $2.63{\pm}1.48$. 2. A regression analysis showed that by selecting the use of oral hygiene supplies as a dependent variable and the model turned out to make an 8.1% prediction. Among the selected independent variables, familiarity with the use of oral hygiene supplies revealed a statistically significant influence on the use of oral hygiene supplies that was a dependent variable(p<0.000). Conclusions : Awareness of oral hygiene supplies didn't have a lot of impact on the use of the supplies. It is important to motivate learners to make use of oral hygiene supplies in case of oral health education.

Natural radioprotectors and their impact on cancer drug discovery

  • Cancer is a complex multifaceted illness that affects different patients in discrete ways. For a number of cancers the use of chemotherapy has become standard practice. Chemotherapy is a use of cytostatic drugs to cure cancer. Cytostatic agents not only affect cancer cells but also affect the growth of normal cells; leading to side effects. Because of this, radiotherapy gained importance in treating cancer. Slaughtering of cancerous cells by radiotherapy depends on the radiosensitivity of the tumor cells. Efforts to improve the therapeutic ratio have resulted in the development of compounds that increase the radiosensitivity of tumor cells or protect the normal cells from the effects of radiation. Amifostine is the only chemical radioprotector approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but due to its side effect and toxicity, use of this compound was also failed. Hence the use of herbal radioprotectors bearing pharmacological properties is concentrated due to their low toxicity and efficacy. Notably, in silico methods can expedite drug discovery process, to lessen the compounds with unfavorable pharmacological properties at an early stage of drug development. Hence a detailed perspective of these properties, in accordance with their prediction and measurement, are pivotal for a successful identification of radioprotectors by drug discovery process.

A gradient boosting regression based approach for energy consumption prediction in buildings

  • This paper proposes an efficient data-driven approach to build models for predicting energy consumption in buildings. Data used in this research is collected by installing humidity and temperature sensors at different locations in a building. In addition to this, weather data from nearby weather station is also included in the dataset to study the impact of weather conditions on energy consumption. One of the main emphasize of this research is to make feature selection independent of domain knowledge. Therefore, to extract useful features from data, two different approaches are tested: one is feature selection through principal component analysis and second is relative importance-based feature selection in original domain. The regression model used in this research is gradient boosting regression and its optimal parameters are chosen through a two staged coarse-fine search approach. In order to evaluate the performance of model, different performance evaluation metrics like r2-score and root mean squared error are used. Results have shown that best performance is achieved, when relative importance-based feature selection is used with gradient boosting regressor. Results of proposed technique has also outperformed the results of support vector machines and neural network-based approaches tested on the same dataset.

직무특성모형에 의한 간호조직유효성 예측요인 (The Effects of Job Characteristics on the Nursing Organizational Effectiveness)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to testify effectiveness and adaptability of the job characteristics model in nursing organization. Methods: The subjects of this study were 250 nurses who were working in the 2 general hospitals located in Metropolitan city area. The data were collected by self-reporting questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and path analysis. Results: The modified path model revealed a highly fitness of the data in the overall fitness indexes. The prediction power of modified model was from 44% to 58%, which was very high. The highest predict factors of organizational commitment were identified meaning of empowerment and feedback of job characteristics. The highest predict factors of job satisfaction were identified impact of empowerment and autonomy of job characteristics. Conclusion: With these findings, it was suggested that the nursing job-redesign plan focused on nursing feedback and autonomy among the job characteristics was needed to increase the nurse’ empowerment as well as nursing organizational effectiveness.

디스플레이 FAB 생산능력 예측 개선 사례 연구 (A Case Study on the Improvement of Display FAB Production Capacity Prediction)

  • Various elements of Fabrication (FAB), mass production of existing products, new product development and process improvement evaluation might increase the complexity of production process when products are produced at the same time. As a result, complex production operation makes it difficult to predict production capacity of facilities. In this environment, production forecasting is the basic information used for production plan, preventive maintenance, yield management, and new product development. In this paper, we tried to develop a multiple linear regression analysis model in order to improve the existing production capacity forecasting method, which is to estimate production capacity by using a simple trend analysis during short time periods. Specifically, we defined overall equipment effectiveness of facility as a performance measure to represent production capacity. Then, we considered the production capacities of interrelated facilities in the FAB production process during past several weeks as independent regression variables in order to reflect the impact of facility maintenance cycles and production sequences. By applying variable selection methods and selecting only some significant variables, we developed a multiple linear regression forecasting model. Through a numerical experiment, we showed the superiority of the proposed method by obtaining the mean residual error of 3.98%, and improving the previous one by 7.9%.

구조방정식 모형(SEM)을 이용한 축구 요인간 인과관계 분석 (Causal Relationship Analysis of Winning Factors in Football Game : Structural Equation Model)

  • Modern football has transformed into a scientific football based on data. With this trend, various methods for tactics studies and outcome prediction have been developed on the perspective of data analysis. In this paper, we propose a structural equation model for football game. We analyze critical factors that affect to the winning of game except psychological parts and the causal relationship between latent variables and observed variables is statistically verified through the proposed structural equation model. The results show that the Passing ability and the Ball possession affect to the Attack ability, and consequently it has a positive impact on the winning of game.

방문간호서비스의 직무특성이 방문보건인력의 심리적 임파워먼트에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Job Characteristics on Emotional Empowerment in Visiting Health Personnel)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of job characteristics on emotional empowerment in visiting health personnel. Methods: Subjects were recruited in ten community health care centers in one directorial area. Data collection was done using a self-report questionnaire. Job characteristics of visiting healthcare personnel were measured using the questionnaire developed by Kang (2006), based on Hackman & Oldham (1975). Emotional empowerment was measured using the questionnaire developed by Kang (2006), based on Spreitzer (1995). Results: First, the score of job characteristics was revealed to be 3.51 points the task significance was high, and the feedback was low. Second, the level of emotional empowerment was revealed to be 3.78 points the meaning was high, and the impact was low. Third, the prediction power of job characteristics on emotional empowerment was 34% autonomy, task identity, and task significance were identified as statistically significant predictive factors. Conclusion: The job characteristics of visiting healthcare personnel are highly correlated with emotional empowerment. Autonomy, task identity, and task significance are predictive factors of emotional empowerment. These results can be used to develop more effective job planning for increasing organizational effectiveness in visiting healthcare personnel.

4차 산업혁명시대 노인 간호 (Gerontological Nursing in the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution)

  • Purpose: There is a need to examine changes in the health care environment and the impact on gerontological nursing care in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In this article recent healthcare paradigm changes, gerontechnology, high tech and high touch, person-centered approaches are discussed. Methods: A narrative review was used. Results: Cyber physical system, artificial intelligence, advance and convergence of bioengineering, and information communication technology are changing the health care paradigm to "precision", "prediction" and "personalization". Entry into the global aging society and the surge in the elderly population worldwide has led to searches for a new means to prepare for projected demands of this growing population. Thus, efforts such as gerontechnology have been made to apply and utilize recent innovative science and technology in order to promote the health and life of elders. There is a great emphasis on the convergence of high tech and high touch, in which humanistic and artistic approach are critical in order to assure that technology is beneficial to human beings rather than harmful. Conclusion: Positive healthcare experiences among patients and their families are emphasized by utilizing new technology and employing high touch while providing personalized care with a person-centered approach.
