  • Zinc is ubiquitous in all living cells. Structural and catalytic properties of cellular enzymes are zinc dependent. Zinc deficiency leads to a variety of pathological abnormalities with immune impairment. It is an established fact that nutritional status contributes to overall immune response of individuals. Outcome of zinc deficiency on immune system is so drastic that it is difficult to conceive at the first instance. Zinc supplementation has been advocated to prevent diarrheal disease in children with poor nutritional status. The bioavailability of zinc depends upon its sources. Moreover it varies between monogastrics and ruminants. Controversy still prevails between inorganic and organic sources of zinc with respect to their superiority in bioavailability. Zinc exerts immunostimulatory effects in various laboratory and farm animals. Animals having congenital zinc deficiency diseases like A46 lethal trait usually die due to impairment of the immune system unless treated with zinc. The immune mechanism of zinc and its effect on animals and man are discussed. Zinc has been considered as extremely safe at higher therapeutic doses, but does not provide any beneficial effect but rather may cause immunosuppression. More recently, zinc has been prescribed for immunodeficient hosts, to modulate the immune system so that to a certain extent it can combat against opportunistic pathogens.

  • The global population has increased with swift urbanization in developing countries, and it is likely to result in a high demand for animal-derived protein-rich foods. Animal farming has been constantly affected by various stressful conditions, which can be categorized into physical, environmental, nutritional, and biological factors. Such conditions could be exacerbated by banning on the use of antibiotics as a growth promoter together with a pandemic situation including, but not limited to, African swine fever, avian influenza, and foot-and-mouth disease. To alleviate these pervasive tension, various immunomodulants have been suggested as alternatives for antibiotics. Various studies have investigated how stressors (i.e., imbalanced nutrition, dysbiosis, and disease) could negatively affect nutritional physiology in chickens. Importantly, the immune system is critical for host protective activity against pathogens, but at the same time excessive immune responses negatively affect its productivity. Yet, comprehensive review articles addressing the impact of such stress factors on the immune system of chickens are scarce. In this review, we categorize these stressors and their effects on the immune system of chickens and attempt to provide immunomodulants which can be a solution to the aforementioned problems facing the chicken industry.

  • This paper proposes non-linear control method using immune algorithm based fuzzy logic. Nonlinear dynamic system exist widely in many types of systems such as chemical processes, biomedical processes, and the main steam temperature control system of the thermal power plant. Up to the present time, PID Controllers have been used to operate these systems. However, it is very difficult to achieve an optimal PID gain with no experience, because gain of the PID controller has to be manually tuned by trial and error. An inverted pendulum control problem is selected to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method and defines relationship state variables $\chi$, $\chi$, $\theta$, $\theta$ using immune fuzzy.

  • This pqer investigates the subject of intrusion detection over networks. Existing network-based IDS's are categorised into three groups and the overall architecture of each group is summarised and assessed. A new methodology to this problem is then presented, which is inspired by the human immune system and based on a novel artificial immune model. The architecture of the model is presented and its characteristics are compared with the requirements of network-based IDS's. The paper concludes that this new approach shows considerable promise for future network-based IDS's.

  • This paper presents a new approach with artificial immune system algorithm to solve the profit based unit commitment problem. The objective of this work is to find the optimal generation scheduling and to maximize the profit of generation companies (Gencos) when subjected to various constraints such as power balance, spinning reserve, minimum up/down time and ramp rate limits. The proposed hybrid method is developed through adaptive search which is inspired from artificial immune system and genetic algorithm to carry out profit maximization of generation companies. The effectiveness of the proposed approach has been tested for different Gencos consists of 3, 10 and 36 generating units and the results are compared with the existing methods.

  • The interaction of HIV and human immune system was studied in the perspective of dynamics. We summarized the recent researches on drug scheduling using optimal control theory for HIV treatment. The drug treatment to make immune system to work properly is investigated based on mathematical models including memory CTLp. In the simulation results, it was verified that stopping medication after a certain period of treatment can lead a patient to be cured naturally by one s immune system. Also, we summarized and categorized the advantages and disadvantages of each HIV drug scheduling method. In conclusion, model-based predictive control is more efficient for making decision of drug dose than other methods, when there exist uncertainties on model parameters or state variables.

  • This paper describes on-going research, applying an artificial immune system to the problem of network intrusion detection. The paper starts by introducing the motivation and rationale of this research. After describing the overall architecture of the proposed artificial immune system fur network intrusion detection, the real network traffic data and its profile features used in this research are explained. As the first step of this effort, the negative selection algorithm, which is one of three significant evolutionary stages comprising an overall artificial immune system, is investigated and initial results are briefly discussed. Finally, the direction of future work is discussed based on this initial result and the contribution of this research is addressed.

Up to the present time, PID Controllers have been used to operate these systems. However, it is very difficult to achieve an optimal PID gain with no experience, because of the interaction between loops and gain of the PID controller has to be manually tuned by trial and error. This paper suggests control approaches by immune fuzzy for the nonlinear control system inverted pendulum, through computer simulation. This paper defines relationship state variables $x,\dot{x},{\theta},\dot{\theta}$ using immune fuzzy and applied its results to stability.

  • An immune system has powerful abilities such as memory, recognition and learning to respond to invading antigens, and is applied to many engineering algorithm recently. In this paper, the combined optimization algorithm is proposed for multi-objective problem by introducing the capability of the immune system that controls the proliferation of clones to the genetic algorithm. The optimizing ability of the proposed algorithm is identified by using multi-peak function which have many local optimums and identification of the flexural rigidity for wire rope model.

  • Bombyx mori is a representative industrial insect and is used in silk production. Additionally, it serves as an insect model in molecular studies. To date, various molecular studies on its physiological characteristics, including the innate immune response and cuticular melanization, have been conducted. The melanization, including cuticular melanization, in insects is controlled by the prophenoloxidase-activating system, which is also involved in their innate immune response. In this review, to better understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the prophenoloxidase-activating system in the silkworm, the roles of five biomolecules, namely tyrosine hydroxylase, prophenoloxidase-activating enzyme, phenoloxidase, serine protease homolog, and immulectin, are discussed.
