In this study, the effects of the number of coat and immersion period on strength properties, waterproofness and chemical resistance of painted and immersed cement mortars using two admixture were examined. Test results showed that the flexural and the compressive strengths of the coated and immersed cement mortars increase with increasing number of coat and immersion period. The water absorption of the coated and immersed cement mortars tended to decrease with increasing number of coated and immersion period. In the case of the change of weight and the immersion period for the solutions, a decreasing tendency was shown as the immersion period increases regardless of solution, with a little variation.

The importance of magnesium alloys has significantly increased due to their low density, high strength/weight ratio, very good electromagnetic shielding features and good recyclability. However, unfortunately, Mg alloys are very susceptible to corrosion due to their high chemically activities (= -2.356 V vs. NHE at $25^{\circ}C$), hence, most commercial Mg alloys require corrosion protective coatings. Organic coating such as painting, powder coating and electrophoretic deposition of paint (E-paint) is typically used in the final stages of the coating process of Mg alloys. In this study, effect of pre-immersion time on the deposition of E-paint on AZ31 Mg alloy was investigated. It was found that during pre-immersion time, AZ31 Mg alloy rapidly reacts with E-paint solution and paint can be self-deposited on the AZ31 surface without applying of electric current. The pore size on the E-painted AZ31 Mg alloy increased with increasing pre-immersion time from 0 to 5 min. Both adhesion and corrosion resistance of E-painted AZ31 Mg alloy decreased with increasing pre-immersion time. The best E-paint AZ31 Mg alloy, which showed stronger adhesion after water immersion test and good corrosion resistance, was started to deposit after 5 s of pre-immersion time.

This study explores the effects of VR (Virtual Reality) store vividness, which is one of VR shopping environmental features used in previous research, on user satisfaction. In addition, the mediating role of immersion between VR store vividness and user satisfaction is investigated. The moderating role of self-efficacy is also explored since the effects of vividness and immersion on user satisfaction may depend on a consumer's perceived shopping self-efficacy. A total of 58 participants experienced a VR store with the Oculus Go VR headset. To test the hypotheses, model 14 of Process Macro 3.4 is used (95% Confidence Interval). According to the results, immersion mediated between VR store vividness and user satisfaction. Additionally, there was a significant interaction effect between immersion and self-efficacy on user satisfaction. When a consumer experiences high immersion at a VR store, consumers may have a strongly positive experience, especially among those who have a perceived low shopping self-efficacy.

The corrosion of pure titanium (CP- Ti Grade 2) and titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V ELI) were studied under various conditions of simulated body fluids. The static immersion test and the electrochemical test were performed in accordance with ISO 10271 : 2001. For the electrochemical test, the open circuit potential was monitored as a function of time, and the cyclic polarization curve was recorded. The corrosion resistance was evaluated from the values of corrosion potential, passivation current density, breakdown potential, and the shape of hysteresis etc. The effects of alloy type, surface condition, temperature, oxygen, and constituents in the fluids such as acid, chloride were estimated. Both specimens had extremely low dissolution rate in the static immersion test. They showed strong passivation characteristics in the electrochemical test. They maintained negligible current density throughout the wide anodic potential range. The passive layer was not broken up to 2.0 V (vs. SCE). The hysteresis and the shift of passivation potential toward the anodic direction was observed during the reversed scan. The passivation process appeared to be accelerated by oxygen in air or that dissolved in the fluids. The passivation also proceeded without oxygen by the reaction of constituents in the fluids. Acid or chloride in the fluids, specially later weakened the passive layer, and then induced higher passivation current density and less shift of passivation potential in the reversed scan. CP-Ti Grade 2 was more reactive than Ti6Al4V ELI in the fluids containing acid or chloride, but thicker layer produced on its surface provided higher corrosion resistance.
The physical properties of polymer concrete were investigated for development of high-performance construction materials. Various specimens of polymer concrete were prepared using unsaturated polyester resin as the polymer-binder with the various dosage of calcium carbonate as microfiller (5~20 wt %) and fine aggregate(10~50 wt %). For the evaluation of the physical properties of polymer concretes, tests such as compressive strength, flexural strength, water absorption test, hot water immersion test, acid resistance test and pore size distribution analysis were conducted. As a result, it is concluded that compressive and flexural strengths of polymer concretes increased up to 4 times than those of conventional cement concrete. Whereas the compressive and flexural strengths of polymer concretes tested after hot water immersion, compared with those of polymer concretes tested before hot water immersion, decreased about 67%, 47%, respectively. By hot water immersion, total pore volume and porosity(%) of polymer concretes were remarkable increased due to decomposition of polymer binder. And also, it is showed that water absorption(%) and weight loss(%) of polymer concrete specimens by acid immersion, compared with those of ordinary portland cement concrete, decreased about 1/100, 1/27, respectively.
Moisture damage of asphalt mixtures can occur because of a loss of bond between the asphalt binder and the fine and coarse aggregates. Therefore, moisture damage on asphalt pavements is the main cause of potholes, which is one of the main distress type of asphalt pavement. The purpose of this study is to evaluation effect moisture damage on material properties of asphalt mixtures through the laboratory performance test. The existing Modified Lottman test procedure was improved and the number of times that thermal cyclic conditioning can be added until the asphalt mixtures is damaged, was tested in order to exhibit the changes of the material properties because of moisture damage by immersion. Through the above experiments, it was found that the material properties of asphalt mixtures on room-temperature were rapidly decreased with loss of about 50% at initial stage of moisture damage caused by the amount of repeated immersion. Also, it was found that the property damage ratio using material properties of failure energy and $DCSE_f$ by test temperature $25^{\circ}C$ were showed a high relationship to moisture damage of the asphalt mixtures caused by the amount of repeated immersion.
This paper includes the comparative study between Cr plating and nitriding process with an aim at improving corrosion, wear and maintainability for KNR(Korean Next Generation Rifle) 5.56mm barrel. The endurance test was conducted to compare the performance of standard barrel, Cr plating barrel and nitriding barrel. Main activities are described as follows; optimal Cr plating and nitriding process set-up for KNR 5.56mm barrel; durability test of each barrel(20,000 rounds); salt water immersion test; dispersion, initial velocity, inner diameter data acquisition. According to the results of this firing test, Cr plating barrel is superior to standard barrel and nitriding barrel in view of corrosion, wear and maintainability
PURPOSES : The objective of this study was to evaluate the results of the dynamic immersion test (DIT) through digital image analysis (DIA). METHODS : The asphalt binder retained post DIT was inspected visually by more than three investigators. However, because visual observations can be subjective, depending on the inspector's skills and knowledge, DIA was also performed. The threshold value for the DIA was determined by a mesh analysis, in which the digital image to be analyzed is divided into very small meshes. In addition, the bitumen bond strength (BBS) test was also performed to the compare the visual results with the mechanical values. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS : Depending on the materials used, various methods can be used to predict the behavior of retained asphalt. However, the increasing ratio in the trend of retained asphalt shows different behaviors among the evaluation methods. In this study, the results of the visual observations were significantly different from those of the DIA, the mesh analysis, and the BBS tests. Thus, DIA is an appropriate method for evaluating the results of the DIT. However, in order to use this technique in the field, it is necessary to determine a more reasonable threshold value by performing DIA on various materials.
The aim of our study is to investigate the anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory properties of an ethanol extract of the leaf and stem of Aralia cordata. Writhing responses induced by acetic acid, tail immersion test, and formalin-induced paw pain response for nociception and formalin-induced paw edema for inflammation were evaluated in mice. A. cordata (50 - 200 mg/kg, p.o.) and ibuprofen (100 mg/kg, p.o.), a positive non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), inhibited the acetic acid-induced writhing response, but they did not protect the thermal nociception in tail immersion test. However, morphine (5 mg/kg, s.c.) used as positive opioid control alleviated both the acetic acid-induced writhing response and thermal nociception in tail immersion test. In the formalin test, A. cordata (50 - 200mg/kg) and ibuprofen (200mg/kg) inhibited the second phase response (peripheral inflammatory response), but not the first phase response (central response), whereas morphine inhibited both phase pain responses. Both A. cordata (100 mg/kg) and ibuprofen (200 mg/kg) significantly alleviated the formalin-induced increase of paw thickness, the index of inflammation. These results show for the first time that the leaf and stem of A. cordata has a significant anti-nociceptive effect that seems to be peripheral, but not central. A. cordata also displays an anti-inflammatory activity in an acute inflammation model. The present study supports a possible use of the leaf and stem of A. cordata to treat pain and inflammation.
