Many image edge details are easily lost in the image denoising process, and the smooth image regions are prone to produce jagged. In this paper, we propose a wavelet-based image global k- singular value decomposition variational method to remove image noise. A layer of wavelet decomposition is applied to the noisy image first. Then, the image global k-singular value decomposition (IGK-SVD) method is used to remove the random noise of low-frequency components. Furthermore, a constructed variational denoising method (VDM) removes the random noise in the high-frequency component. Finally, the denoised image is obtained by wavelet reconstruction. The experimental results show that the proposed method's peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) value is higher than other methods, and its structural similarity (SSIM) value is closer to one, indicating that the proposed method can effectively suppress image noise while retaining more image edge details. The denoised image has better denoising effects.

Performance of the interpolation algorithm used in the technique of bi-dimensional empirical mode decomposition directly affects its popularization and application, so that the researchers pay more attention to the algorithm reasonable, accurate and fast. However, it has been a lack of an adaptive interpolation algorithm that is relatively satisfactory for the bi-dimensional empirical mode decomposition (BEMD) and is derived from the image characteristics. In view of this, this paper proposes an image interpolation algorithm based on the particle swarm and fractal. Its procedure includes: to analyze the given image by using the fractal brown function, to pick up the feature quantity from the image, and then to operate the adaptive image interpolation in terms of the obtained feature quantity. All parameters involved in the interpolation process are determined by using the particle swarm optimization algorithm. The presented interpolation algorithm can solve those problems of low efficiency and poor precision in the interpolation operation of bi-dimensional empirical mode decomposition and can also result in accurate and reliable bi-dimensional intrinsic modal functions with higher speed in the decomposition of the image. It lays the foundation for the further popularization and application of the bi-dimensional empirical mode decomposition algorithm.
In Shamir's (t,n)-threshold based secret image sharing schemes, there exists a problem that the secret image can be reconstructed when an arbitrary attacker becomes aware of t secret image pieces, or t participants are malicious collusion. It is because that utilizes linear combination polynomial arithmetic operation. In order to overcome the problem, we propose a secret image sharing scheme using matrix decomposition and adversary structure. In the proposed scheme, there is no reconstruction of the secret image even when an arbitrary attacker become aware of t secret image pieces. Also, we utilize a simple matrix decomposition operation in order to improve the security of the secret image. In experiments, we show that performances of embedding capacity and image distortion ratio of the proposed scheme are superior to previous schemes.
Positron emission tomography (PET) is widely used imaging modality for effective and accurate functional testing and medical diagnosis using radioactive isotopes. However, PET has difficulties in acquiring images with high image quality due to constraints such as the amount of radioactive isotopes injected into the patient, the detection time, the characteristics of the detector, and the patient's motion. In order to overcome this problem, we have succeeded to improve the image quality by using the dynamic image reconstruction method based on singular value decomposition. However, there is still some question about the characteristics of the proposed technique. In this study, the characteristics of reconstruction method based on singular value decomposition was estimated over computational simulation. As a result, we confirmed that the singular value decomposition based reconstruction technique distinguishes the images well when the signal - to - noise ratio of the input image is more than 20 decibels and the feature vector angle is more than 60 degrees. In addition, the proposed methode to estimate the characteristics of reconstruction technique can be applied to other spatio-temporal feature based dynamic image reconstruction techniques. The deduced conclusion of this study can be useful guideline to apply medical image into SVD based dynamic image reconstruction technique to improve the accuracy of medical diagnosis.
Template tracking refers to the procedure of finding the most similar image patch corresponding to the given template through an image sequence. In order to obtain more accurate trajectory of the template, the template requires to be updated to reflect various appearance changes as it traverses through an image sequence. To do that, appearance images are used to model appearance variations and these are obtained by the computation of the principal components of the augmented image matrix at every iteration. Unfortunately, it is prohibitively expensive to compute the principal components at every iteration. Thus in this paper, we suggest a new Sliding Window based truncated URV Decomposition (TURVD) algorithm which enables updating their structure by recycling their previous decomposition instead of decomposing the image matrix from the beginning. Specifically, we show an efficient algorithm for updating and downdating the TURVD simultaneously, followed by the rank-one update to the TURVD while tracking the decomposition error accurately and adjusting the truncation level adaptively. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm produces no-meaningful differences but much faster execution speed compared to the typical algorithms in template tracking applications, thereby maintaining a good approximation for the principal components.
This paper proposed a versatile algorithm based on a dual-tree complex wavelet transform for intensifying the visual aspect of medical images. First, the decomposition of the input image into a high sub-band and low-sub-band image is done. Further, to improve the resolution of the resulting image, the high sub-band image is interpolated using Lanczos interpolation. Also, contrast enhancement is performed by singular value decomposition (SVD). Finally, the image reconstruction is achieved by using an inverse wavelet transform. Then, the Gaussian filter will improve the visual quality of the image. We have collected images from the hospital and the internet for quantitative and qualitative analysis. These images act as a reference image for comparing the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm with the existing state-of-the-art. We have divided the proposed algorithm into several stages: preprocessing, contrast enhancement, resolution enhancement, and visual quality enhancement. Both analyses show the proposed algorithm's effectiveness compared to existing methods.

We propose a wavelet decomposition feature extraction method for the hand-written character recognition. Comparing the recognition rates of which methods with original image features and with selected features by the wavelet decomposition we study the characteristics of the proposed method. LDA(Linear Discriminant Analysis) QDA(Quadratic Discriminant Analysis) RDA(Regularized Discriminant Analysis) and NN(Neural network) are used for the calculation of recognition rates. 6000 hand-written numerals from CENPARMI at Concordia University are used for the experiment. We found that the set of significantly selected wavelet decomposed features generates higher recognition rate than the original image features.

The bidimensional empirical mode decomposition (BEMD) algorithm with high adaptability is more suitable to process multiple image fusion than traditional image fusion. However, the advantages of this algorithm are limited by the end effects problem, multiscale integration problem and number difference of intrinsic mode functions in multiple images decomposition. This study proposes the multiscale self-coordination BEMD algorithm to solve this problem. This algorithm outside extending the feather information with the support vector machine which has a high degree of generalization, then it also overcomes the BEMD end effects problem with conventional mirror extension methods of data processing,. The coordination of the extreme value point of the source image helps solve the problem of multiscale information fusion. Results show that the proposed method is better than the wavelet and NSCT method in retaining the characteristics of the source image information and the details of the mutation information inherited from the source image and in significantly improving the signal-to-noise ratio.

Digital watermarking techniques are widely applied to protect the integrity and copyright of digital content. In a majority of the literature for watermarking techniques, the watermarked image often causes some distortions after embedding a watermark. For image-quality-concerned users, the distortions from a watermarked image are unacceptable. In this article, we propose a removable watermarking scheme that can restore an original-like image and resist signal-processing attacks to protect the ownership of an image by utilizing the property of singular value decomposition (SVD). The experimental results reveal that the proposed scheme meets the requirements of watermarking robustness, and also reestablishes an image like the original with average PSNR values of 59.07 dB for reconstructed images.

We present a vaguelette-curvelet decomposition based image deblurring algorithm. We first perform denoising based on the hard-thresholding rule by estimating unknown curvelet coefficients. The proposed algorithm then calculates vaguelette functions by deconvolving the curvelet bases by the point spread function. Vaguelette transform is finally performed to make a clearly restored image. Since the proposed algorithm uses the curvelet transform to sensitively express the edges in all directions, it is possible to restore images with more naturally preserved edges in all directions.
