  • Moving image sharing technology has developed various servers and programs for personal broadcasting. In this paper, we propose the method of transmitting the multiple moving image, including the output channel of external streaming server. It also implements and tests multiple real-time broadcast channel automatic transmission systems that assign multiple output channels to automatic output channels. As a result of the experiment, it is easy to allocate moving image to broadcast channels that are output through the external streaming server's output channels regardless of the size of the streaming server, enabling the management of efficient output channels at the time of transmission of multiple moving image. The moving image can be provided through streaming method regardless of the type of moving image from the moving image provider terminal, and the moving image transmission can be controlled in various ways, including adding and changing channels for which the moving image is sent, and sending delayed to the moving image.

  • KITSAT-3, the third satellite of KITSAT series which has been developed for the last four and half years with purely Korean design and implementation technology, was launched successfully at last. All subsystems were tested and validated during the initial operation of the satellite. During the initaial operation phase, the Earth imaging camera on board KITSAT-3 acquisited several tens of scenes all over the world and transmitted the image data to ground station. The quality of images and the reliability of data transmission-reception system were tested qualititively and quantititively, respectively. In this paper, we summarize the camera, data handling, on-board memory, and image data transmission system of KITSAT-3 as well as the image receiving and archiving system in ground station. The error rate of image data transmission and reception was tested during the initial operation phase. The average data transmission error rate satisfied the initial requirement of less than 1%. The error rate will be reduced through the continuous work of test and stabilization of the ground system hardware.

  • This paper has proposed a single image based fog degree quantification method by measuring both transmission and local contrast. The proposed method estimates the foggy expected regions from transmission, and then assesses the size of regions of which transmission values are foggy expected ones and the range of local contrast value on such regions. Compared with fog degree gauged by the scattering coefficient measurement sensor, the proposed method quantifies the fog degree with more than 95% accuracy for images containing various objects and environments. We also developed a technique that measures the local contrast values in process of measuring transmission values. So, the proposed method does not increase complexity compared to the existing transmission method.

  • Purpose: The aims of the present study are to determine the optimum compression rate in terms of file size reduction and diagnostic quality of the images after compression and evaluate the transmission speed of original or each compressed image. Materials and Methods: The material consisted of 24 extracted human premolars and molars. The occlusal surfaces and proximal surfaces of the teeth had a clinical disease spectrum that ranged from sound to varying degrees of fissure discoloration and cavitation. The images from Digora system were exported in TIFF and the images from conventional intraoral film were scanned and digitalized in TIFF by Nikon SF-200 scanner (Nikon, Japan). And six compression factors were chosen and applied on the basis of the results from a pilot study. The total number of images to be assessed were 336. Three radiologists assessed the occlusal and proximal surfaces of the teeth with 5-rank scale. Finally diagnosed as either sound or carious lesion by one expert oral pathologist. And sensitivity, specificity and k value for diagnostic agreement was calculated. Also the area (Az) values under the ROC curve were calculated and paired t-test and oneway ANOVA test was performed. Thereafter, transmission time of the image files of the each compression level was compared with that of the original image files. Results: No significant difference was found between original and the corresponding images up to 7% (1 : 14) compression ratio for both the occlusal and proximal caries (p<0.05). JPEG3 (1 : 14) image files are transmitted fast more than 10 times, maintained diagnostic information in image, compared with original image files. Conclusion: 1 : 14 compressed image file may be used instead of the original image and reduce storage needs and transmission time.

  • In this paper, we have implemented the DVR system which is controlled far away, and added a function of TCP/IP Network for image data and control signal transmission, the DVR system has the advantage of easy to search and of no loss in stored quality. The continuously declining price of the hard drive presents the opportunity for the DVR system to displace the analog system. Also, with spread of the internet the needs of PC based the DVR system increase. Therefore, we have implemented DVR system within a function of network. When obtained image through the PTZ camera is transmitted to digital form, very large space of storage is required, hence image compression is essential. We use JPEG2000 for compression of image. JPEG2000 adopt DWT by means of transform. DWT concentrates important information of image on subband and has feature of multi-resolution. It is effective in order to express image. Thus JPEG2000 is suitable for image compression in DVR system. The significance of this paper is to design the DVR system which is controlled through TCP/IP network and to implement transmission of image compression using JPEG2000.

  • DCT image coding has been well known for its compression efficiency. Its nature makes it also suitable for efficient progressive transmission and reconstruction since low frequency transform coefficients contain most of the energy of image signals. In this paper, we propose a progressive transmission technique of DCT image by non-sequential bit ordering using Lloyd-Max quantizer. And then, we will show that the Lloyd-Max quantizer can be embedded quantization. In simulation results, the proposed method show better subjective picture and MSE of the reconstructed image than the conventional zig-zag scanning transmission of transform coefficients.

  • In this study, we design a low-cost test equipment for real-time image observation and transmission/reception distance test using 1m by 1.5m bang-pai kite. The image observation is made by using two servo motors to enable the camera to control the two axis attitude. The image observation equipment is hung on the string of a kite and the test is performed to observe the real time image. The transmission and reception distance test of the wireless RF transceiver module is conducted on the ground and in the air.

  • This paper presents an interactive progressive image transmission method, which enables a remote user to interactively select and transmit preferred regions from an index image. Our enhanced quadtree decomposition using PSNR-based rules and new implicit quadtree coding provide better rate-distortion performance than previous quadtree coders as well as leading bit plane methods. An adaptive traversal of child nodes is introduced for better visual display of restored images. Depth-first traversal combined with breadth-first traversal of the quadtree to accomplish interactive transmission as presented, results in a method that provides competitive performance at a low level of computational complexity. Moreover, our decoding requires only simple arithmetic which is enabling our method to be used for real-time mobile applications.

  • Future combat systems can be represented as the NCW (Network Centric Warefare), which is based on the concept of Sensor-to-Shooter. A wireless video sensor networking technology, one of the core components of NCW, has been actively applied for the purpose of tactical surveillance. In such a surveillance sensor network, multi-composite sensors, especially consisting of image sensors are utilized to improve reliability for intrusion detection and enemy tracing. However, these sensors may cause a problem of requiring very high network capacity and energy consumption. In order to alleviate this problem, this paper proposes an image data transmission scheme based on resource reservation. The proposed scheme can make it possible to have more reliable image data transmission by choosing proper multiple interfaces, while trying to control resolution and compression quality of image data based on network resource availability. By the performance analysis using NS-3 simulation, we have confirmed the transmission reliability as well as energy efficiency of the proposed scheme.
