Acquiring 3-dimensional data of a human face using a laser slit-ray projection method

  • This paper describes a system which enables a fast 3-dimensional measurement of a human face using a sli-ray projection method. One distinctive feature of our system is that a real-time video signal processor is employed in order to reduce the amount of image data to be processed and enable a fast measurement. Another feature of our system is that a skillful calibration software is developed. Due to this calibration software, opetators can be free from cumbersome settings of the measuring system.

  • A post-processing program based on the OOP(Object-Oriented Programming) concept has been developed for visualization of MRI. User-friendly GUl(Graphic User Interface) has been built on the base of MFC(Microsoft Foundation Class). The program is organized as modules by classes based on VTK-library, and these classes are made to function through inheritance and cooperation which are an important and valuable concept of object-oriented programming. The major functions of this post-processor program are introduced and demonstrated, which include contour plot, surface plots, cut plot and clip plot as well as view manipulation (translation, rotation, scaling etc).

일반화된 Hough 변환을 위한 특수 목적 VLSI 시스템 설계에 관한 연구 (Specialized VLSI System Design for the Generalized Hough Transform)

  • In this research, a mesh connected VLSI structure is proposed for the real time computation of the generalized Hough transform(GHT). The purpose of the research is to design a generalized Hough transformer that can be realized as a single chip processor. The GHT has been modified to yield a highly parallel structure consisting of simple processing elements(PEs) and communication networks. In the proposed structure, the GHT can be computed by first assigning an image pixel to a PE and performing shift and add operations. The result of the CAD circuit simulation shows that it can be computed in the time proportional to the number of pixels in the pattern. In addition to the Hough transformer, the peak detector has been designed to reduce 1)the number of the I/O operations between the transformer and the host computer and 2) the host computer's burden for peak detection by transmitting only the local peaks detected from the transformed accumulator. It is expected that the proposed single chip Hough transformer with peak detector makes a fast and inexpensive edge based object recognition systems possible for many industrial and military applications.

  • GW170817/GRB170817A establishes a double neutron star merger as the progenitor of a short gamma-ray burst, starting 1.7 s post-coalescence. GRB170817A represents prompt or continuous emission from a newly formed hyper-massive neutron star or black hole. We report on a deep search for broadband extended gravitational-wave emission in spectrograms up to 700 Hz of LIGO O2 data covering this event produced by butterfly filtering comprising a bank of templates of 0.5 s. A detailed discussion is given of signal-to-noise ratios in image analysis of spectrograms and confidence levels of candidate features. This new pipeline is realized by heterogeneous computing with modern graphics processor units (GPUs). (Based on van Putten, M.H.PM., 2017, PTEP, 093F01.)

  • Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry(ESPI) using the Model 95 Ar. laser, a video system and an image processor was applied to the in-plane displacement measurements. Unlike traditional strain gauges or Moire method, ESPI method requires no special surface preparation or attachments and can be measured in-plane displacement with no special surface preparation or attachments and can be measured in-plane displacement with no contact and real time. In this experiment specimen was loaded in parallel with a loadcell. The specimen was the cold rolled steel sheet of 2mm thickness, which was attached strain gauges. The study provides an example of how ESPI have been used to measure strain displacement in this specimen. The results measured by ESPI compare with the data which was measured by strain gauge method in tensile testing.

  • 최근에 지능형 로봇분야에서 주위 카메라를 기반으로 실시간으로 환경인식 및 물체 추적 등 다양한 분야에서 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 환경인식 및 물체 추적은 결국 배경과 관심물체를 분리하는 것이라고 볼 수 있는 데, 차 연산을 이용하여 물체의 움직임만을 배경으로 분리하는 방법과 물체인식을 통해 배경으로부터 분리하여 추적하는 방법에 대한 연구가 지속적으로 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 배경과 물체 사이에서 변화하는 색상의 변화를 퍼지기법을 이용하여 물체를 배경과 분리하여 실시간으로 물체를 추적하고자 한다. 실시간 물체 추적을 위해 전체영상에 대한 전역적 탐색을 통해 여러 후보 물체 중 관심물체를 배경에서 추출 후, 추출된 물체의 크기에 따른 지역탐색을 통하여 물체를 추적하는 방법이다. 그리고 본 논문에서는 ARM프로세서를 이용한 카메라시스템을 제작하여 실시간으로 영상분활을 실험하였다.

  • A new architecture of the Digital Scan Converter (DSC) for the linear-scan ultrasound medical imaging systems is proposed and its hardware implementation is reported. While the conventional DSC merely displays the acquisited data and does nor allow access to the frame memory, it is possible, in the new system, to access to the frame memory for further imaging processing so as to obtain useful information for medical diagnosis. Image processing can be performed either by a special pupose processor, or by VAX 11/780. The system is made to operate asyncronously to increase the frame rate with tags assigned to the data. The proposed DSC was designed to be used without much modification for the sector scan system as well.

  • 본 논문은 비디오 워터마킹 알고리즘을 적용한 비디오 시스템 구현에 관한 것이다. 시스템은 압축 알고리즘과 워터마킹 알고리즘을 실시간으로 처리하기 위해 DSP 프로세서를 기본으로 하여 구성하였다. 비디오 워터마킹 알고리즘은 공간영역과 프레임간의 정보를 이용하여 워터마크를 삽입하는 방법을 사용하였다. 실험결과, DSP에서 D1 영상 한 프레임 당 처리 시간이 약 32.1ms 소요되었다.

Scalable Interframe Wavelet Coding with Low Complex Spatial Wavelet Transform

  • In the decoding process associated with interframe wavelet coding, the inverse wavelet transform requires high computational complexity. However, as video technology starts to pervade all aspects of our lives, decoders are becoming required in various devices such as PDAs, notebooks, PCs, and set-top boxes. Therefore, a decoder's complexity needs to be adapted to the processor's computational power, and consequently a low-complexity codec is also required for scalable video coding. In this paper, we propose a method of controlling and lowering the complexity of the spatial wavelet transform while sustaining the same coding efficiency as that currently afforded. In addition, the proposed method may alleviate the ringing effect for slowly changing image sequences.

볼록 거울 및 단일 카메라를 이용한 실내에서의 전 방향 위치 검출 방법 (The Indoor Position Detection Method using a Single Camera and a Parabolic Mirror)

  • This article describes the methods of a decision of the location which user points to move by an optical device like a laser pointer and a moving to that location. Using a conic mirror and CCD camera sensor, a robot observes a spot of user wanted point among an initiative, computes the location and azimuth and moves to that position. This system offers the brief data to a processor with simple devices. In these reason, we can reduce the time of a calculation to process of images and find the target by user point for carrying a robot. User points a laser spot on a point to be moved so that this sensor system in the robot, detecting the laser spot point with a conic mirror, laid on the robot, showing a camera. The camera is attached on the robot upper body and fixed parallel to the ground and the conic mirror.
