Development of Automatic Inspection System for ALC Block Using Distortion Correction Technique (왜곡 보정 기법을 이용한 ALC 블럭의 자동 검사 시스템 개발)

  • The lens distortion in the machine vision system is inevitable phenomenon. Distortion is getting worse, due to the selection of lens in the trend of reducing prices and size of the system. In this trend, the distortion correction becomes more important. But, the traditional correction methods has problems, such as complexity and requiring more operations. Effective distorted digital image correction is the precondition of target detection and recognition based on vision inspection. To overcome the disadvantage of traditional distortion correction algorithms, such as complex modeling, massive computation and marginal information loss, an image distortion correction algorithm based on photogrammetry method is proposed in this paper. In our method, we use the lattice image as the measurement target. Through the experimental results, we could find that we can reduce the processing time by 4ms. And also the inspection failure rate of our method was reduced by 2.3% than human-eyes inspection method.

A Real-time Copper Foil Inspection System using Multi-thread (다중 스레드를 이용한 실시간 동판 검사 시스템)

  • The copper foil surface inspection system is necessary for the factory automation and product quality. The developed system is composed of the high speed line scan camera, the image capture board and the processing computer. For the system resource utilization and real-time processing, multi-threaded architecture is introduced. There are one image capture thread, 2 or more defect detection threads, and one defect communication thread. To process the high-speed input image data, the I/O overlap is used through the double buffering. The defect is first detected by the predetermined threshold. To cope with the light irregularity, the compensation process is applied. After defect detection, defect type is classified with the defect width, eigenvalue ratio of the defect covariance matrix and gray level of defect. In experiment, for high-speed input image data, real-time processing is possible with multi -threaded architecture, and the 89.4% of the total 141 defects correctly classified.

  • This paper was studied abouta technology for detecting damage to temporary works equipment used in construction sites with explainable artificial intelligence (XAI). Temporary works equipment is mostly composed of steel or aluminum, and it is reused several times due to the characters of the materials in temporary works equipment. However, it sometimes causes accidents at construction sites by using low or decreased quality of temporary works equipment because the regulation and restriction of reuse in them is not strict. Currently, safety rules such as related government laws, standards, and regulations for quality control of temporary works equipment have not been established. Additionally, the inspection results were often different according to the inspector's level of training. To overcome these limitations, a method based with AI and image processing technology was developed. In addition, it was devised by applying explainableartificial intelligence (XAI) technology so that the inspector makes more exact decision with resultsin damage detect with image analysis by the XAI which is a developed AI model for analysis of temporary works equipment. In the experiments, temporary works equipment was photographed with a 4k-quality camera, and the learned artificial intelligence model was trained with 610 labelingdata, and the accuracy was tested by analyzing the image recording data of temporary works equipment. As a result, the accuracy of damage detect by the XAI was 95.0% for the training dataset, 92.0% for the validation dataset, and 90.0% for the test dataset. This was shown aboutthe reliability of the performance of the developed artificial intelligence. It was verified for usability of explainable artificial intelligence to detect damage in temporary works equipment by the experiments. However, to improve the level of commercial software, the XAI need to be trained more by real data set and the ability to detect damage has to be kept or increased when the real data set is applied.

  • Mini Double Gears Frame is critical part of PDP and also produces couple hundred thousand every month. In the process of mass production, product inspection is very important process. Double Gear, one of the part of machine, was inspected by human eyes which caused mistakes and slow progress. To achieve the speed and accuracy the system was compensated by vision system which is inspecting automatically. The focus value is measured based on the fact that high contrast images have much high frequency edge information. High frequency term of the image is extracted using the high-pass filter and the sum of the high frequency term is used as the focus value. We used a Gaussian smoothing filter to reduce the noise and then measures the focus value using the modified Laplacian filter called a Sum modified Laplacian Focus values for the various lens positions are calculated and the position with the maximum focus value is decided as the focused position. The focus values calculated in various lens position showed the Gaussian distribution. We proposed a method to estimate the best focus position using the Gaussian curve fitting. Focus values of the uniform interval lens positions are calculated and the values are used to estimate the Gaussian distribution parameters to find the best focus position.

A Study on the Development of Surface Defect Inspection Preprocessing Algorithm for Cold Mill Strip (냉연 표면흠 검사를 위한 전처리 알고리듬에 관한 연구)

  • In a still mill, the effective surface defect inspection algorithm is necessary. For this purpose, this paper proposed the preprocessing algorithm for surface defect inspection of cold mill strip. This consists of live steps. They are edge detection, binarizing, noise deletion, combining of fragmented defect and selecting the largest defect. Especially, binarizing is a critical problem. Bemuse the performance of the preprocessing is largely depend on the binarized image. So, we develope the adaptive thresholding method, which is multilevel thresholding. The thresholding value is varied according to the mean graylevel value of each test image. To investigate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we classified the detected defect using neural network. The test image is 20 defect images captured at German Sick Co. This algorithm is proved to have good property in cold mill strip surface inspection.

  • Recently, due to the aging of workers and the weakening of the labor base in the automobile industry, research on quality inspection methods through ICT(Information and Communication Technology) convergence is being actively conducted. A lot of research has already been done on the development of an automated system for quality inspection in the manufacturing process using image processing. However, there is a limit to detecting defects occurring in the automotive sunroof sealer application process, which is the subject of this study, only by image processing using a general camera. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a system construction method that collects image information using a infrared thermal imaging camera for the sunroof sealer application process and detects possible product defects based on the SVM(Support Vector Machine) algorithm. The proposed system construction method was actually tested and applied to auto parts makers equipped with the sunroof sealer application process, and as a result, the superiority, reliability, and field applicability of the proposed method were proven.

Deep Learning Based Real-Time Painting Surface Inspection Algorithm for Autonomous Inspection Drone

  • A deep learning based real-time painting surface inspection algorithm is proposed herein, designed for developing an autonomous inspection drone. The painting surface inspection is usually conducted manually. However, the manual inspection has a limitation in obtaining accurate data for correct judgement on the surface because of human error and deviation of individual inspection experiences. The best method to replace manual surface inspection is the vision-based inspection method with a camera, using various image processing algorithms. Nevertheless, the visual inspection is difficult to apply to surface inspection due to diverse appearances of material, hue, and lightning effects. To overcome technical limitations, a deep learning-based pattern recognition algorithm is proposed, which is specialized for painting surface inspections. The proposed algorithm functions in real time on the embedded board mounted on an autonomous inspection drone. The inspection results data are stored in the database and used for training the deep learning algorithm to improve performance. The various experiments for pre-inspection of painting processes are performed to verify real-time performance of the proposed deep learning algorithm.

  • This study is concentrated on the development of high speed multi-object image processing algorithm in real time. Recently, the use of vision system is rapidly increasing in inspection and robot's position control. To apply the vision system, it is necessary to transform the physical coordinate of object into the image information acquired by CCD camera. Thus, to use the application of the vision system to the inspection and robot's position control in real time, we have to know the position of object in the image plane. Particularly, in case of rigid body using multi-cue to identify its shape, the each position of multi-cue must be calculated in an image plane at the same time. To solve these problems, the image processing algorithm on the position of multi-cue is developed.
