A Study on the Acceptance of Hindu Culture in Modern Southeast Asian Buddhism - The Structural Analysis of Hindu Myth and Buddhist Modification on Ramakien (근대 동남아불교의 힌두문화 수용 - 태국 라마끼엔의 힌두신화와 불교적 변용)

  • The article focuses on the impact and Acceptance of Hindu culture in Modern Southeast Asian Buddhism. The purpose of this study is to examine critically the influential epic Ramayana on Siam culture, Thai Ramayana version 'Ramakien', reveal instances of Buddhist Modification. The Ramayana by the great sage Valmiki is considered by Indians to be the first great literary work to be produced in India. The influence of this work is to be seen not only through centuries but even in other countries, such as Thailand where there are modified modern versions. In this paper, I have three objectives : (1) I may discuss the epic Ramayana of India gave birth to the Ramakien of Thailand. In modern times Valmiki's epic was made to fit the spiritual trends current in the new Chakri dynasty, which were themselves based on Brahmanic tradition and Theravada buddhism. With regarding to the structure of the Traibhumi cosmography, and the relationship between merit and power implied by this cosmography ranks all beings from demons to deities in a hierarchy of merit which accrues according to karma the actions of past lives. (2) I analyze how to have attempted to dissect the Hindi and Thai version of the Ramayana. The Hindu concept of kingship is also depicted in the life of Rama. The Hindus see in Rama the norm of a true Hindu life characterized by the Caste and Dharma. In Thai transformed version, it does not preach Hindu values of personal or social life. The Ramakien emphasized that the Buddhism were higher than all other laws, and that the King is regarded as the incarnation of Phra Ram, and thus is also the narration of the righteous buddhist ruler. (3) I discuss how cultural or social contexts can influence the structure of the royal Wat. The whole epic was painted by the order of Rama I in the galleries of the Wat Phra Keo. In other words, it is the very centre of the dynastic cult enshrining the Emerald Buddha, the most iconic expression of the Ramakien tradition were officially amalgamated. Rama I was continued the process of elaborating and stabilizing the complex religious pattern, with Buddhism at the pinnacle. My finding will support the idea that the Ramakien is particularly appealing to the Thai people because it presents the image of an ideal king, Rama, who symbolizes the force of virtue or dharma while Thotsakan represents the force of evil. Eventually the force of good prevails. Being Buddhists, the Thai poets bring into the story the Buddhist philosophy(especially, the law of cause and effect, karma). This paper examines the role of the Hindu epic Ramayana in the historical and cultural contact between Hindu India and Buddhist Southeast Asia. It should now be possible to evaluate what elements of Hindu culture were transmitted into Thai through the Rama story.

Hyperparameter Optimization for Image Classification in Convolutional Neural Network (합성곱 신경망에서 이미지 분류를 위한 하이퍼파라미터 최적화)

  • In order to obtain high accuracy with an convolutional neural network(CNN), it is necessary to set the optimal hyperparameters. However, the exact value of the hyperparameter that can make high performance is not known, and the optimal hyperparameter value is different based on the type of the dataset, therefore, it is necessary to find it through various experiments. In addition, since the range of hyperparameter values is wide and the number of combinations is large, it is necessary to find the optimal values of the hyperparameters after the experimental design in order to save time and computational costs. In this paper, we suggest an algorithm that use the design of experiments and grid search algorithm to determine the optimal hyperparameters for a classification problem. This algorithm determines the optima values of the hyperparameters that yields high performance using the factorial design of experiments. It is shown that the amount of computational time can be efficiently reduced and the accuracy can be improved by performing a grid search after reducing the search range of each hyperparameter through the experimental design. Moreover, Based on the experimental results, it was shown that the learning rate is the only hyperparameter that has the greatest effect on the performance of the model.

  • This study has attempted to use ozone for the treatment of skin diseases as research results that ozonated olive oil has an excellent therapeutic effect on skin diseases are known. However, there is hardly any accurate data in Korea. Usually, animal tests related to cosmetics are not performed, but toxicity tests were conducted because they were absolutely necessary. In general, there are not many cases of measuring actual data through animal tests for the purpose of confirming the performance of cosmetics, but in the case of toxicity tests, it is recommended to accurately measure skin reactions, so this experiment was conducted. In this experiment, in order to evaluate the skin irritation of ozonated oil (high concentration) on the rabbit, the test substance was applied to the back of the rabbit for 24 hours, and then mortality, general symptoms and skin irritation were evaluated. Experimental Results As a result of evaluating the treatment site of the test substance after a certain period of time, no skin irritation was observed in all animals.

  • Due to the modern appearance management craze to deliver a positive image to others, beauty has been subdivided and diversified based on science and technology, and has established itself as a professional technical profession. As the national technical qualification for makeup cosmetologists is separated from cosmetologists (integrated), it is necessary to analyze the correlation with the job attitude of make-up cosmetologists at industrial sites along with verification of the effectiveness of the practical test task. Therefore, in this study, the first task, wedding (romantic), wedding (classic), hanbok, natural makeup, etc., to investigate the job efficacy and job satisfaction perceived by makeup beauticians due to beauty makeup procedures, such as wedding (romantic), wedding (classic), and after establishing a hypothesis. As a result of the study, it was found that wedding classic makeup and wedding romantic makeup treatment induce job efficacy and job satisfaction, respectively, in makeup artists. This suggests that high saturation and intense color expression have a positive effect on job attitude due to the nature of makeup work. Therefore, based on the results of this study, it is judged that future efforts are needed to update the practical makeup tasks that have doubled the effectiveness and to improve the job attitude of makeup beauticians.

Analysis of the Surface Urban Heat Island Changes according to Urbanization in Sejong City Using Landsat Imagery (Landsat영상을 이용한 토지피복 변화에 따른 행정중심복합도시의 표면 열섬현상 변화분석)

  • Urbanization due to population growth and regional development can cause various environmental problems, such as the urban heat island phenomenon. A planned city is considered an appropriate study site to analyze changes in urban climate caused by rapid urbanization in a short-term period. In this study, changes in land cover and surface heat island phenomenon were analyzed according to the development plan in Sejong City from 2013 to 2020 using Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager/Thermal Infrared Sensor (OLI/TIRS) satellite imagery. The surface temperature was calculated in consideration of the thermal infrared band value provided by the satellite image and the emissivity, and based on this the surface heat island effect intensity and Urban Thermal Field Variance Index (UTFVI) change analysis were performed. The level-2 land cover map provided by the Ministry of Environment was used to confirm the change in land cover as the development progressed and the difference in the surface heat island intensity by each land cover. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the urbanized area increased by 15% and the vegetation decreased by more than 28%. Expansion and intensification of the heat island phenomenon due to urban development were observed, and it was confirmed that the ecological level of the area where the heat island phenomenon occurred was very low. Therefore, It can suggest the need for a policy to improve the residential environment according to the quantitative change of the thermal environment due to rapid urbanization.

Freeze-Thaw Resistance of Alkali Activated Ternary Blended Cement Incorporated with Ferronickel Slag (알칼리 활성화제를 첨가한 페로니켈슬래그 혼입 삼성분계 콘크리트의 동결융해 저항성)

  • The present study assessed the micro structure and durability characteristics of ternary blended cement with different types of alkali activators. Ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBS) and ferronickel slag(FNS) was replaced until 50 % of the weight of cement. In addition, potassuim hydroxide and sodium hydroxide were used for comparing the properties of different type of alkali activator. Ternary blended cement with alkali activators showed higher peak portlandite peak than that of OPC(Ordinary Portlande Cement) and non activated ternary blended cement. Also, there was no new hydration products in ternary blended cement or/and alkali activators. Based on the mercury intrustion porosimetry(MIP) test result, ternary blended cement increased macro pore while alkali activated ternary blended cement modified pore structure and increased microp pore as compared to OPC as control. Combination with alkali activators is desirable to enhance the compressive strength and freeze thaw resistance.

A Study on The Effects of Spokes-Character Characteristics on Perceived Quality and Brand Attitude (캐릭터의 특성이 지각된 품질과 브랜드 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • Many companies are increasing the use of characters to enhance brand image and brand value. The use of characters in the certain industry is active, however, the research on characters in academia is insufficient. The purpose of this study is to investigate how characteristics of characters affect on consumer's brand attitude and to suggest the guideline companies to concern on brand characters, in especial on designing or licensing them. The results showed that all characteristics of character positively influenced on brand attitude. Among nine characteristics of the character, trust was the most impact and nostalgia was the least impact on brand attitude, respectively. Perceived quality was mediated on in relations between the brand character and brand attitude. In indirect effect, familiarity was the most impact on brand attitude. In sum, we suggested that trust and familiarity of the character are the most weighted characteristics on brand character design strategy.

Flood Mapping Using Modified U-NET from TerraSAR-X Images (TerraSAR-X 영상으로부터 Modified U-NET을 이용한 홍수 매핑)

  • The rise in temperature induced by global warming caused in El Nino and La Nina, and abnormally changed the temperature of seawater. Rainfall concentrates in some locations due to abnormal variations in seawater temperature, causing frequent abnormal floods. It is important to rapidly detect flooded regions to recover and prevent human and property damage caused by floods. This is possible with synthetic aperture radar. This study aims to generate a model that directly derives flood-damaged areas by using modified U-NET and TerraSAR-X images based on Multi Kernel to reduce the effect of speckle noise through various characteristic map extraction and using two images before and after flooding as input data. To that purpose, two synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images were preprocessed to generate the model's input data, which was then applied to the modified U-NET structure to train the flood detection deep learning model. Through this method, the flood area could be detected at a high level with an average F1 score value of 0.966. This result is expected to contribute to the rapid recovery of flood-stricken areas and the derivation of flood-prevention measures.

  • Monitoring nuclear activity for inaccessible areas using remote sensing technology is essential for nuclear non-proliferation. In recent years, deep learning has been actively used to detect nuclear-activity-related small objects. However, high-resolution satellite imagery containing small objects can result in class imbalance. As a result, there is a performance degradation problem in detecting small objects. Therefore, this study aims to improve detection accuracy by analyzing the effect of the ratio of small objects related to nuclear activity in the input data for the performance of the deep learning model. To this end, six case datasets with different ratios of small object pixels were generated and a U-Net model was trained for each case. Following that, each trained model was evaluated quantitatively and qualitatively using a test dataset containing various types of small object classes. The results of this study confirm that when the ratio of object pixels in the input image is adjusted, small objects related to nuclear activity can be detected efficiently. This study suggests that the performance of deep learning can be improved by adjusting the object pixel ratio of input data in the training dataset.

Development of Plant Phenology and Snow Cover Detection Technique in Mountains using Internet Protocol Camera System (무인카메라 기반 산악지역 식물계절 및 적설 탐지 기술 개발)

  • Plant phenology including flowering, leaf unfolding, and leaf coloring in a forest is important to understand the forest ecosystem. Temperature rise due to recent climate change, however, can lead to plant phenology change as well as snowfall in winter season. Therefore, accurate monitoring of forest environment changes such as plant phenology and snow cover is essential to understand the climate change effect on forest management. These changes can monitor using a digital camera system. This paper introduces the detection methods for plant phenology and snow cover at the mountain region using an unmanned camera system that is a way to monitor the change of forest environment. In this study, the Automatic Mountain Meteorology Stations (AMOS) operated by Korea Forest Service (KFS) were selected as the testbed sites in order to systematize the plant phenology and snow cover detection in complex mountain areas. Multi-directional Internet Protocol (IP) camera system that is a kind of unmanned camera was installed at AMOS located in Seoul, Pyeongchang, Geochang, and Uljin. To detect the forest plant phenology and snow cover, the Red-Green-Blue (RGB) analysis based on the IP camera imagery was developed. The results produced by using image analysis captured from IP camera showed good performance in comparison with in-situ data. This result indicates that the utilization technique of IP camera system can capture the forest environment effectively and can be applied to various forest fields such as secure safety, forest ecosystem and disaster management, forestry, etc.
