Feature Extraction of Forest Fire by Using High Resolution Image (고해상도 위성영상을 이용한 산화피해림의 특징추출)

  • 본 연구는 전정색(panchromatic) 고해상도 위성영상을 이용하여 산화피해림과 비산화림을 대상으로 수종별로 구분하여 조사하였다. 제안된 방법은 회색단계 공발생 행렬(Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix, GLCM)을 통하여 생성된 질감 영상(textural images)과 웨이블릿 분해 영상(wavelet decomposition images)의 융합을 실시하여 질감 영상에서 추출될 수 있는 정보와 웨이블릿 분해를 통해 얻을 수 있는 정보를 획득하고자 하였다. 그 결과로 동일 수종을 형성하는 임반이나 산화피해 정도가 유사한 산림의 경우 영상의 밝기값의 분포가 일정한 범위 내에서 형성되어 수종 분류 및 산화피해 등급의 구분이 가능했으나, 영상 내 경계효과(edge effect) 현상은 일부 영상에서 나타났다.

Experimental Study on the Dynamic Behaviour of Oil Seals (오일시일의 동적거동에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • This paper deals with an experimental study on the dynamic behaviour of rubber oil seals when the interferences between the shaft and the seal lip as well as the dynamic eccentricities are present. The micro-separation of the sealing gap was observed with the aid of an image processing apparatus. The temperature of the seal lip edge, friction torque and the dynamic sealing gap profile are experimentally investigated for the initial interference and the shaft eccentricity. The data was simultaneously measured under the operation conditions. Experimental results show that, as the shaft speed is increased, the leakage of sealed fluids is increasing for a certain range of shaft speeds. The test data indicates that the shaft eccentricity clearly produces the gap separation between the shaft and the seal lip which is unable to follow the radial displacement of shaft as the shaft speed increases.

  • In this paper, a real-time eye tracking method using fast face detection is proposed. Most of the current eye tracking systems have operational limitations due to sensors, complicated backgrounds, and uneven lighting condition. It also suffers from slow response time which is not proper for a real-time application. The tracking performance is low under complicated background and uneven lighting condition. The proposed algorithm detects face region from acquired image using elliptic Hough transform followed by eye detection within the detected face region using Haar-like features. In order to reduce the computation time in tracking eyes, the algorithm predicts next frame search region from the information obtained in the current frame. Experiments through simulation show good performance of the proposed method under various environments.

  • A new classified VQ scheme for DCT coefficients(DCT-CVQ) is proposed for still image coding. DCT coefficient matrices are classified into six classes by ac coefficients that well represent edge characteristics and the distribution of ac energy in the DCT domain. To reduce the complexity of, VQ, ac transform coefficients are partitioned into several vectors, and an adaptive method is provided by making different codebook sizes for different classes. Simulation results show that this DCT-CVQ results in good subjective quality at low bit rates, and SNR is increased by about 1.5-4.0 dB in the range 0.2-0.5 bpp, when compared with other DCT-VQ coding schemes.

  • 본 논문에서는 연속된 영상에서 다중해상도 에지정보의 차이를 이용하여 이동하는 물체를 탐지하고 계수하는 시스템을 제안한다. 연속적으로 입력되는 영상에 대하여 이산 웨이블릿 연산을 수행하여 다중해상도 에지를 추출하고, 인접한 프레임 사이의 다중해상도 에지 차이를 이용하여 이동물체를 추출한다. 가중치가 부여된 유클리디언 거리를 이용하여 물체를 추적한 다음, 칼만필터를 이용하여 물체 궤적의 위치 정보를 보정한다. 마지막으로, 관심영역에 대한 물체 궤적의 상대적인 위치를 고려하여 이동물체를 계수한다.

Automatic Defect Detection from SEM Images of Wafers using Component Tree

  • In this paper, we propose a novel defect detection method using component tree representations of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images. The component tree contains rich information about the topological structure of images such as the stiffness of intensity changes, area, and volume of the lobes. This information can be used effectively in detecting suspicious defect areas. A quasi-linear algorithm is available for constructing the component tree and computing these attributes. In this paper, we modify the original component tree algorithm to be suitable for our defect detection application. First, we exclude pixels that are near the ground level during the initial stage of component tree construction. Next, we detect significant lobes based on multiple attributes and edge information. Our experiments performed with actual SEM wafer images show promising results. For a $1000{\times}1000$ image, the proposed algorithm performed the whole process in 1.36 seconds.

  • This paper describes the algorithm which can estimate road following direction and deetect obstacle using a monocular vision system. This algorithm can estimate the course of vehicle using the vanishing point properties and detect obstacle by statistical method. The proposed algorithm is composed of four steps, which are lane prediction, lane extraction, road following parameter estimation and obstacle detection. It is designed for high processing speed and high accuracy. The former is achieved by a small area named sub-windown in lane existence area, the later is realized by using connected edge points of lane. We would like to present that the new mehod can detect obstacle using the simple statistical method. The paracticalities of the processing speed, the accuracy of the algorithm and proposing obstacle detection method, have been justified through the experiment applied VTR image of the real road to the algorithm.

  • An image enhancement method using modified anisotropic diffusion filter is proposed in this paper. It employs sensor noise estimation and scale space methods based on the minimum reliable scale. Then the anisotropic diffusion filter is modified by the calculated critical value function and local gradient. Through simulation, it is verified that the proposed algorithm has the capability of little or no noise amplification in homogenous region as well as superior edge enhancement.

  • The magnitude of the plastic zone around the crack tip of DENT(Double Edge Notched Tension) specimen and the crack growth length under cyclic loading were measured by ESPI(Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry) system. The measured magnitude of plastic zone was compared with the equations proposed by Irwin and calculated by a nonlinear static method of MSC/NASTRAN. The measured crack growth length by ESPI system was also compared with the obtained data by the image analysis system. From the study, it is confirmed that the plastic zone and crack growth length can be measured accurately with the high-tech equipment.

  • We suggest a system to detection whether material picked up is double or single when the robot feeds them in automation line. This system measures thickness of metal plate and alarms when they are double sheet measuring boundary lines of metal sheet. This system calculates the minimum distance of straight boundary lines by eliminating noise in the edge regions. In the experimental system, double or single is determined by calculating implemented the thickness in the image where the distance of pixels are retrieved by the hash table. In this paper, the algorithm of histogram is adapted to experiment in the implement, thus proved as double sheet detection system.
