  • In this paper, we proposed a content-based image retrieval system using the multi-Index key. The multi-index ky combines the color distribution considering the spatial characteristic and the shape features of an image using the edge detection. Consequently, the evaluation shows that the performance of the proposed technique is better than other techniques.

  • This paper reports a non-photorealistic rendering method for creating stream pattern from an input image. Our method extracts potential stream pattern in the given image. The proposed approach uses a shock filter based on a partial difference equation(PDE) which is implemented by applying a selective dilation and erosion processes. However, unlike the traditional first order solution to the PDE, we employ a second order scheme and compensate for the undesired diffusive effects caused by a viscosity form. The selection of dilation or erosion for a pixel is based on an edge detector computed from a structure tensor. By adding noises on to the input image, our method also can generate stream pattern even if there is less texture in some area. The experimental results show that the stream pattern is extracted very well.

  • Image correction of the fluorescein angiogram with the low contrast and geometrically distorted is studied. The procedure is divided into two steps : A template matching step and a geometrical transformation step. Based on the sequential similiarity detection algorithm, more Improved matching results are obtained with edge enhanced image. For the reference points and the corresponding matchimg points, the geometrical transformationss by the use of the average value of the X, Y translational shifts and a pair of these points, respectively are described. Then the corrected images are obtained using bilinear interpolation. It is proven that the usefullness of this study for the image correction of the ocular fundus fluoresceln angiogram with low contrast and geometrically distorted mainly due to the eye movements.

  • In this paper, to control the existing headlamp control system using steering wheel angle more efficiently and more actively, image processing algorithm which improved the detection rate of lane at night based on camera was suggested. And to recognize road lane more clearly in the conditions of low illumination, new algorithms were developed in the aspects of improving brightness, extracting clear lane edge and using the characteristics of lane. Through this research, it turned out that lane detection ability by using the normalized stretching, angular mask and expected-area scan have good performance in the night compare to existing algorithms.

  • Over the last few years computer based image processing has become more prominent in forensic science. The image quality from many CCTV systems is too poor for facial recognition. but there are other human characteristics which allow us to recognize individuals from a distance. one of these parameters is a human's height. In this paper, we propose useful height measurement method by auto Position, size adjustment which uses image superimposition and edge detection regardless of lens distortion and not uses conventional photogrammetry calibration methods.

  • This paper proposes a method to improve video quality on images that have blocking artifacts at block boundary. Block image transform coding suffers from blocking artifact that is a main cause of degrading video quality because of the quantization error of transform coefficients in quantization process. filtering and DPCM for DC components have been widely used to reduce blocking artifact. Recently, lots of works focus on the technique that minimizes block effects using discontinuity of block boundaries. In this paper, image blurring in decoding stage is improved by adding compensation factor to each transformed blocks so that discontinuity of block boundaries can be decreased. The compensation factor is applied on each block without much loss of edge components.

  • The leakage current in a CMOS image sensor (CIS) can have various origins. Leakage current investigations have focused on such things as cobalt-salicide, source and drain scheme, and shallow trench isolation (STI) profile. However, there have been few papers examining the effects on leakage current of nitride stringers that are formed by gate sidewall etching. So this study reports the results of a series of experiments on the effects of a nitride stringer on real display images. Different step heights were fabricated during a STI chemical mechanical polishing process to form different nitride stringer sizes, arsenic and boron were implanted in each fabricated photodiode, and the doping density profiles were analyzed. Electrons that moved onto the silicon surface caused the dark leakage current, which in turn brought up the speckle defect on the display image in the CIS.

  • In this paper, we have verified the applicability of the line-clustering segmentation method to steel-tube X-ray images. Image data is partitioned into three regions on the base of vertical line edge detection. Parameters for necessary condition, such as neighborlity, similarity and directional neighbor correlation coefficients, proposed in that method is calculated and applied to such selected regions separately Segmental features at each region is extracted statistically and functional classification is clustered by the point or space process. The analyzed data and experimental results show that the line-clustering segmentation method has a high applicability to X-ray image.

  • Due to the development of video and optical technology today, video equipments are being used in a variety of fields such as identification, security maintenance, and factory automation systems that generate products. In this paper, we investigate an algorithm that effectively recognizes an experimental object in an input image with a partial problem due to the mechanical problem of the input imaging device. The object recognition algorithm proposed in this paper moves and rotates the vertices constituting the outline of the experimental object to the positions of the respective vertices constituting the outline of the DB model. Then, the discordance values between the moved and rotated experimental object and the corresponding DB model are calculated, and the minimum discordance value is selected. This minimum value is the final discordance value between the experimental object and the corresponding DB model, and the DB model with the minimum discordance value is selected as the recognition result for the experimental object. The proposed object recognition method obtains satisfactory recognition results using only partial information of the experimental object.
