  • Aiming at motion analysis and compensation, it is essential to conduct motion detection with images. However, motion detection and tracking from low-altitude images obtained from an unmanned aerial system may pose many challenges due to degraded image quality caused by platform motion, image instability and illumination fluctuation. This research tackles these challenges by proposing a modified joint transform correlation algorithm which includes two preprocessing strategies. In spatial domain, a modified fuzzy edge detection method is proposed for preprocessing the input images. In frequency domain, to eliminate the disturbance of self-correlation items, the cross-correlation items are extracted from joint power spectrum output plane. The effectiveness and accuracy of the algorithm has been tested and evaluated by both simulation and real datasets in this research. The simulation experiments show that the proposed approach can derive satisfactory peaks of cross-correlation and achieve detection accuracy of displacement vectors with no more than 0.03pixel for image pairs with displacement smaller than 20pixels, when addition of image motion blurring in the range of 0~10pixel and 0.002variance of additive Gaussian noise. Moreover, this paper proposes quantitative analysis approach using tri-image pairs from real datasets and the experimental results show that detection accuracy can be achieved with sub-pixel level even if the sampling frequency can only attain 50 frames per second.

  • The adaptive sparse representation (ASR) can effectively combine the structure information of a sample dictionary and the sparsity of coding coefficients. This algorithm can effectively consider the correlation between training samples and convert between sparse representation-based classifier (SRC) and collaborative representation classification (CRC) under different training samples. Unlike SRC and CRC which use fixed norm constraints, ASR can adaptively adjust the constraints based on the correlation between different training samples, seeking a balance between l1 and l2 norm, greatly strengthening the robustness and adaptability of the classification algorithm. The correlation coefficients (CC) can better identify the pixels with strong correlation. Therefore, this article proposes a hyperspectral image classification method called correlation coefficients and adaptive sparse representation (CCASR), based on ASR and CC. This method is divided into three steps. In the first step, we determine the pixel to be measured and calculate the CC value between the pixel to be tested and various training samples. Then we represent the pixel using ASR and calculate the reconstruction error corresponding to each category. Finally, the target pixels are classified according to the reconstruction error and the CC value. In this article, a new hyperspectral image classification method is proposed by fusing CC and ASR. The method in this paper is verified through two sets of experimental data. In the hyperspectral image (Indian Pines), the overall accuracy of CCASR has reached 0.9596. In the hyperspectral images taken by HIS-300, the classification results show that the classification accuracy of the proposed method achieves 0.9354, which is better than other commonly used methods.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the reliability of lower limb joint angles computed with the software ImageJ during jumping movements. Background: Kinematics is the study of bodies in motion without regard to the forces or torques that may produce the motion. The most common method for collecting motion data uses an imaging and motion-caption system to record the 2D or 3D coordinates of markers attached to a moving object, followed by manual or automatic digitizing software. Above all, passive optical motion capture systems (e.g. Vicon system) have been regarded as the gold standards for collecting motion data. On the other hand, ImageJ is used widely for an image analysis as free software, and can collect the 2D coordinates of markers. Although much research has been carried out into the utilizations of the ImageJ software, little is known about their reliability. Method: Seven healthy female students participated as the subject in this study. Seventeen reflective markers were attached on the right and left lower limbs to measure two and three-dimensional joint angular motions. Jump performance was recorded by ten-vicon camera systems (250Hz) and one digital video camera (240Hz). The joint angles of the ankle and knee joints were calculated using 2D (ImageJ) and 3D (Vicon-MX) motion data, respectively. Results: Pearson's correlation coefficients between the two methods were calculated, and significance tests were conducted (${\alpha}=1%$). Correlation coefficients between the two were over 0.98. In Vicon-MX and ImageJ, there is no systematic error by examination of the validity using the Bland-Altman method, and all data are in the 95% limits of agreement. Conclusion: In this study, correlation coefficients are generally high, and the regression line is near the identical line. Therefore, it is considered that motion analysis using ImageJ is a useful tool for evaluation of human movements in various research areas. Application: This result can be utilized as a practical tool to analyze human performance in various fields.

  • Shack-Hartmann sensors are widely employed as a wavefront measuring device in various applications. Adaptive optics is one of the major applications. Since an adaptive optics system should be operated in real-time, high-speed wavefront sensing is essential. In high-speed operation, integration time of an image detector is very short. In this case, noises such as readout noise and photon noise greatly influence the accuracy of wavefront sensing. Therefore a fast and noise-insensitive centroid finding algorithm is required for the real-time wavefront sensing. In this paper, the multi-resolution correlation method is proposed. By employing multi-resolution images, this method greatly reduces the computation time when compared to the fast Fourier transform (FFT) correlation method. The verification is performed through the computational simulation. In this paper, the center of mass method, correlation method and multi-resolution correlation method are employed to compare the measurement accuracy of the centroid finding algorithms. The accuracy of a Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor using the proposed algorithm is proved to be comparable to that of the conventional correlation method.

  • The image identification methodology associates an image with a unique identifiable representation. Whenever the methodology regenerates an identifier for the same image, moreover, the newly created identifier needs to be consistent in terms of representation value. In this paper, we discuss a methodology for image identifier generation utilizing luminance correlation. We furthermore propose a method for performance enhancement of the image identifier generation. We also demonstrate the experimental evaluations for uniqueness and similarity analysis and performance improvement that have shown favorable results.

  • The spatial resolution of multispectral images can be improved by merging them with higher resolution image data. A fundamental problem frequently occurred in existing fusion processes, is the distortion of spectral information. This paper presents a spatially adaptive image fusion algorithm which produces visually natural images and retains the quality of local spectral information as well. High frequency information of the high resolution image to be inserted to the resampled multispectral images is controlled by adaptive gains to incorporate the difference of local spectral characteristics between the high and the low resolution images into the fusion. Each gain is estimated to minimize the l$_2$-norm of the error between the original and the estimated pixel values defined in a spatially adaptive window of which the weight are proportional to the spectral correlation measurements of the corresponding regions. This method is applied to a set of co-registered Landsat7 ETM+ panchromatic and multispectral image data.

  • The infringement of the copyright is a problem by the distribution of digital contents copied illegally. The digital watermark is expected as a thing preventing unjust copying by burying information in digital data such as image, animation, the sound, TV, radio and movies. [1] [2]But a noise is included in a digital watermark reproduction image. So there is the case that the certification of the reproduction image has difficulty with. If a computer cannot recognize the information reproduced from digital watermarking, the information does not have a meaning. This paper aimed at improvement of the proof of a digital-watermarking reproduction image. And it is verified whether the difference of the form of a character affects the degree of correlation.
