Framework of micro level e-Learning quality dimensions

  • This study was to analyze important dimensions and its factors of micro level of e-learning determining the quality of e-learning. E-learning dimensions and their factors were identified and developed from the analytical review of related researches. From literature review and survey as well as expert interview, six categories of e-learning identified from this study were: 1) curriculum content, 2) usability, 3) instructional design, 4) evaluation -both process and results, 5) management, and 6) refinement and improvement. A total of thirty-seven factors determining the quality of the e-learning six categories were identified. The rank order and contribution rates for each categories and factors were calculated to explain how importantly they contribute to the quality of e-learning. Also three dimensions such as controlling the e-learning quality, e-learning fundamental dimension e-learning process dimension, and e-learning product dimension, were explained. This study suggests a useful guidance for e-learning quality and evaluation framework for better results.

Isolation and Identification of a Bacteriolytic Enzyme-producing Bacterial Strain from Pusan Coastal Sea (해양에서 용균효소를 분비하는 균주의 분리와 동정)

  • In order to produce the bacteriolytic enzyme, bacterial strains capable of excreting a large amount of the enzyme were screened from the coastal sea water samples in Pusan. The bacterial strain SH-1, which showed the highest activity among 43 bacteriolytic enzyme producing bacteria, was finally selected for further studies. The strain SH-1 was an endospore-forming grampositive rod, and the position of spore was paracentral. These morphological characteristics assigned the isolated strain to the morphological group I classified by Gordon. The fatty acid composition of the bacterial stain was analyzed to be consisted of branched chains of iso-Cn and anteiso-Cn. Based on the percent content of the branched chain (93.85%), the isolates could be identified as a species of Bacillus. According to the experimental results of the API system (API 50CHB & API 20E) the strain was identified as Bacillus subtilis. Numerical texonomy, in which 82 major characters were examined using several species of Bacillus as the standard bacteria, indicated that the strain SH-1 showed 90% similarity to Bacillus subtilis. Thus, the isolated strain SH-1 could be identified as Bacillus subtilis.

Sensorless Control for Linear Compressors (리니어 컴프레서를 위한 센서리스 제어)

  • A closed-loop sensorless stroke control system for a linear compressor has been designed. The motor parameters are identified as a function of the piston position and the motor current. They are stored in ROM table and used later for the accurate estimation of piston position. Also it was attempted to approximate the identified motor parameters to the 2nd-order surface functions. Some experimental results are given in order to show the feasibility of the proposed control schemes for linear compressors.

  • Among 80 types of yeast isolated from wild flowers in Daejeon, Korea, two species that have not yet been identified by phylogenetic analysis of the internal transcribed spacer-2 (ITS2) genes and 26S rDNA sequences were identified as Candida sp. 44-C-1 and Cryptococcus sp. 9-D-1. Neither of the newly identified species formed ascospores, while Candida sp. 44-C-1 formed pseudomycelium and Cryptococcus sp. 9-D-1 did not.

Biocontrol of Fusarium Crown and Root Rot and Promotion of Growth of Tomato by Paenibacillus Strains Isolated from Soil

  • In this study, bacterial strains were isolated from soils from 30 locations of Samcheok, Gangwon province. Of the isolated strains, seven showed potential plant growth promoting and antagonistic activities. Based on cultural and morphological characterization, and 16S rRNA gene sequencing, these strains were identified as Paenibacillus species. All seven strains produced ammonia, cellulase, hydrocyanic acid, indole-3-acetic acid, protease, phosphatase, and siderophores. They also inhibited the mycelial growth of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis-lycopersici in vitro. The seven Paenibacillus strains enhanced a range of growth parameters in tomato plants under greenhouse conditions, in comparison with non-inoculated control plants. Notably, treatment of tomato plants with one identified strain, P. polymyxa SC09-21, resulted in 80.0% suppression of fusarium crown and root rot under greenhouse conditions. The plant growth promoting and antifungal activity of P. polymyxa SC09-21 identified in this study highlight its potential suitability as a bioinoculant.

  • Subaortic stenosis in a 2.9kg, 3-month-old pug dog and a 11 kg, 4-month-old Rott -weiler dog showing signs of dyspnea, tachypnea, anorexia, exercise intolerance and depression was diagnosed with electrocardiography, thoracic radiography and ultrasonographic evaluation. In electrocardiography, PR interval widening, R wave amplitude increase in lead II in case 2, ST segment depression and left axis deviation in case 1 and 2 were identified. In thoracic radiographs, enlarged left ventricle and atrium, caudal displacement of left crus of diaphragm and caudal part of cranial mediastinum widening were identified in ventrodorsal view. In lateral view, left ventricular enlargement, secondary dorsal deviation of trachea and post-stenotic dilation of aorta were seen. Also, edematous pulmonary changes were shown in peri-hilar area. In ultrasonographic examination, left ventricular dilatation, pericardial effusion and subaortic valvular ridge were seen with real time B-mode in right parasternal long axis view. Aortic valve regurgitation was identified in color-Doppler mode.

  • The degradation characteristics of TCE by Ferrate(VI) oxidation have been studied. Ferrate(VI) were prepared by electrochemical method. The degradation efficiency of TCE in aqueous solution was investigated at various pH values, Ferrate(VI) doses and aqueous solution temperature values. GC-ECD was used to analyze TCE. TCE was degraded rapidly by ferrate(VI) in aqueous solution, Also, the experimental results showed that TCE removal efficiency increased with the increase of Ferrate(VI) doses. The effect of pH was investigated and the maximum degradation efficiency was obtained at pH 7. And intermediate products were identified by GC-MS techniques. Ethyl Chloride, Dichloroethylene, Chloroform, 1,1-dichloropropene, Trichloroacetic acid and Trichloroethane were identified as a reaction intermediate, and $Cl^-$ was identified as an end product.

Also, the experimental results showed that TCE removal efficiency increased with the decrease of initial concentration of TCE. And intermediate products were identified by GC-MS techniques. Ethyl Chloride, Chloroform, Ethylene, 1,2-dichloroethane and 1,1,2-trichloroethane were identified as a reaction intermediate, and $Cl^-$ was identified as an end product.

Dynamic Performance Improvement of Oscillating Linear Motors via Efficient Parameter Identification

  • In this paper, the dynamic performance of oscillating linear motors, which are used in household refrigerators, is improved by means of efficient parameter identification. Oscillating linear motor parameters are identified as a function of the piston position and the motor current. They are stored in a ROM table and used later for an accurate estimation of piston position. The identified motor parameters are also approximated to the $2^{nd}$-order surface functions, which are divided into 2 or 4 subsections in order to decrease identification errors. Experimental results are given to show that the proposed control scheme can provide oscillating linear motors with high dynamic performance.

  • Determination of an aerodynamic structure is a very important problem in missile modeling. The structure problem is to choose an appropriate set of aerodynamic coefficients to represent chosen missile dynamics. A methodology and criteria to determine a structure from windtunnel data are presented in this paper. Aerodynamic coeffecients in the determined structure are then identified by parameter identification algorithms. The identified coefficients are in turn used to verify appropriateness of the structure. The extended Kalman filter (EKF) and the maximum likelihood mithod (ML) are adopted as the parameter identification algorithm. Both methods exhibit satisfactory results. While the model identified by the ML more closely follows dynamics of the chosen missile than that by the EKF.
