In order to control the water quality in rivers or lakes, it is needed to evaluate accurate amount of pollutant loadings from watersheds. The daily pollutant loadings were simulated using the pollutant loading calculation model which was composed of mathematical equations superimposed on the TANK model. The calibration of runoff and pollutant loading parameters were carried out with observed data, using a trial-and-error method. In addition, the proposed model was applied to evaluate its applicability for the representative watershed, the Bokha river watershed, Icheon city, Korea. The parameters of SS and T-P showed large values in the first tank while T-N showed large in the second tank. As a result of simulating the daily pollutant loadings by the pollutant loading calculation model, all of SS, T-N and T-P loadings were increased or decreased according to the amount of runoff discharge. Especially, it was apparent that SS and T-P loadings were significantly influenced by the runoff variation when it was rain. These results could partly explain that SS and T-P would occur mainly from the surface runoff while T-N would occur from both surface and subsurface flow.

We measured salinity and $^{222}Rn$ concentration to explore submarine spring along the coastal areas (Mundongri, Icheon-ri, Jukseong-ri, Daebyeon-ri, Yeonhwa-ri, and Dadae-po) including Ilkwang Bay of Busan Metropolitan City in 2009 and 2010. Before field observation, we selected the potential and possible locations of submarine spring based on the lineament distribution and rose diagram analysis. Salinity and radon concentration were measured within the 1~2 km from the coastal lines. Radon activity decreased gradually from onshore to offshore. Vertical profiles of salinity at some stations showed lateral transport of water mass characterized by low salinity. Vertical profiles of salinity in the Ilkwang Bay, which is a unique bay in the south-eastern coastal area of Busan Metropolitan City, also showed the occurrence of low salinity in the bottom seawater. Our results suggest the possible occurrence of submarine discharge of fresh groundwater in the coastal areas around Busan Metropolitan City. In the future, intensive research should be conducted for the exploration methods of submarine spring as well for the possible utility of submarine groundwater as alternative water resources.
The purpose of this study is to identify characteristics of the landscape changes in Gwangjyu city and Icheon city, the suburban areas on the outskirts of the Seoul metropolitan area, by focusing on the causes of the urban sprawl and the resultant morphological characteristics of landscape degradation. Particular attention has been given to the 'advantages for developing suburb including geographical proximity and land price', 'institutional regulation such as land-use regulation' and 'community solidarity' as drivers for possible introduction of external factors. The types of landscape change were divided into three, after having on-the-ground research on eleven chosen towns and interviews with head of a village: Overwhelming Change, Separated and Small-Scale Change. It was found that, in general, the quality of landscape was best for the small-scale change type, followed by separated and overwhelming change types. While the types of landscape change are correlated with the geographical proximity, its relevance with land regulation is relatively weak. The study found that imposing a land-use regulation as a means to prevent changes in suburban village landscape may not be fully effective. Also it analyzed that villages could better manage with keen interest the surrounding landscape if there is a high degree of solidarity within the village community. Therefore, the sense of community could play an important complementary role to land-use regulation which does not suffice in itself to manage suburban landscape.
Many local governments are reducing speed limits according to the "Safe Speed 5030" policy implemented by the government to reduce traffic accident deaths. In the urban road sections in many metropolitan cities where speed limit reduction is applied as a pilot project, the decrease effect of the traffic accident number and death count is shown; however, no study of the effect analysis on the road sections of medium and small cities (basic local government unit) is found. Therefore, this study investigated the travel speed, number of traffic accidents, and death count before and after the implementation of speed limit reduction, targeting some urban road sections in Pyeongtaek city and some provincial road sections in Icheon city among basic local governments, namely among medium and small cities in Seoul Metropolitan Area.

The urban-rural consolidated city has emerged in order to promote the balanced development of urban region and rural region. Targeted 11 urban-rural consolidated cities in Gyeonggi Province, this paper investigated the changes of economic space in accordance with the location of industrial activities. The number of establishments has increased in all cities. From the analysis of the changes in the economic space divided into urban regions and rural regions, concentration phenomenon of economic activities in urban regions was strengthened in 9 cities with the exception of Icheon-si and Anseong-si. Concentration of economic activities in urban region was noticeable in Namyangju-si, Pocheon-si, and Yongin-si. 5 types were derived from the classification on the basis of locational changes of economic activities in urban region and rural region. They are 1) urban-rural gap deepen type, 2) urban region growth slowdown type, 3) rural region growth type, 4) urban-rural balanced growth type, and 5) urban region-led growth type. While urban-rural gap of the cities close to highly urbanized city or metropolis has intensified, the growth of urban region was weakened in the cities located away from the metropolis.
Objectives: The purpose of this research was to analyze the influence of self-actualization needs, dependence on parents, and work-family balance stress affecting on the marriage friendly attitudes among the unmarried women in twenties and thirties. Method: The participants were 315 unmarried women connected by SNS. The data were collected by questionnaire method through SNS by the smart phone using by the snowball sampling method and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Results: First, there were significant differences in the marriage friendly attitudes according to education level, religion, dating. In the case of college graduates, having religion and dating partner, unmarried women had more marriage friendly attitudes. Second, the results of multiple regression showed that the marriage friendly attitudes among unmarried women was significantly influenced by education, religion, and the humanity factor among the self-actualization needs, emotional dependence on parents and work-family balance stress. In addition, the humanity factor among the self-actualization needs was found to be the most influential factor on the marriage friendly attitudes among unmarried women in this study. Conclusion: This study suggests the importance of emphasizing humanity education, having the emotional close relationship with the parents, and enforcing social systems for work-family balance for the greater marriage friendly attitudes of unmarried women in twenties and thirties.

Gaining an accurate 3D stream geometry has become feasible with Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), which is crucial for better understanding stream hydrodynamic processes. The objective of this study was to investigate series of filters to remove stream vegetation and propose the best method for generating Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) using UAV-based point clouds. A stream reach approximately 500 m of the Bokha stream in Icheon city was selected as the study area. Point clouds were obtained in August 1st, 2023, using Phantom 4 multispectral and Zenmuse L1 for Structure from Motion (SfM) and Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) respectively. Three vegetation filters, two morphological filters, and six composite filters which combined vegetation and morphological filters were applied in this study. The Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) were used to assess each filters comparing with the two cross-sections measured by leveling survey. The vegetation filters performed better in SfM, especially for short vegetation areas, while the morphological filters demonstrated superior performance on LiDAR, particularly for taller vegetation areas. Overall, the composite filters combining advantages of two types of filters performed better than single filter application. The best method was the combination of Progressive TIN (PTIN) and Color Indicies of Vegetation Extraction (CIVE) for SfM, showing the smallest MAE of 0.169 m. The proposed method in this study can be utilized for constructing DTMs of stream and thus contribute to improving the accuracy of stream hydrodynamic simulations.
In this research, dental health awareness of 3rd graders of high schools in Icheon-city was investigated in order to use the result of this research as the basic data for school dental health program, education direction, and educational purpose. The research was done from Sep. 23. to Oct. 5 and the followings are the results of survey. (1) 85.0% of the students brush their teeth once or twice a day and more female students brush their teeth 3 times a day than male students. (2) 77% of the students had experienced dental caries and 38.0% of the students have periodontal disease, which has lower percentage than cavity. (3) Most of the students can not go to the dentists because they do not have time and 84.0% of the students have been treated in dental clinics so this tells that most of the students had experienced dental treatment. (4) 46.8% of the students had interests in dental health and male students showed more interests than female students and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05). (5) Most of the students hear the importance and information of dental health from mass media such as TV and radio or from people around. The research shows that most of the students do not get periodic dental checkups. (6) 80.8% of the students had never taught dental health education for improvement of dental health and 76.2% of the students think that the dental health education is needed. There was no difference according to the gender. (7) Most of the students think that the dental health education is needed to prevent cavity and gingiva disease and it shows that more students tend to attend the dental health education. (8) 69.3% of the students think that brushing your teeth is important to maintain good dental health and there was no difference according to the gender. Most of the students weren't aware that periodic dental checkups, right brushing, and using fluoric toothpaste is effective for cavity protection. (9) After looking into the knowledge of the students on dental health, it shows that the knowledge is low and there is no difference according to the gender.
Predicting and estimating the disaster characteristics are very important for disaster planning such as prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. Especially, if we can predict the flood damage before flooding, the predicted or estimated damage will be a very good information to the decision maker for the response and recovery. However, most of the researches, have been performed for calculating disaster damages only after disasters had already happened and there are few studies that are related to the prediction of the damages before disaster. Therefore, the objective of this study was to predict and estimate the flood damages rapidly considering the damage scale and effect before the flood disaster, For this the relationship of rainfall and damage had been suggested using nonlinear regression equation so that it is able to predict the damages according to rainfall. We compared the estimated damages and the actual ones. As a result, the damages were underestimated in 14.16% for Suwon-city and 15.81% for Yangpyeong-town but the damage was overestimated in 37.33% for Icheon-city. The underestimated and overestimated results could be occurred due to the uncertainties involved in natural phenomenon and no considerations of the 4 disaster steps such as prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery which were already performed.. Therefore, we may need the continuous study in this area for reducing various uncertainties and considering various factors related to disasters.

Periodic markets of the later Choson dynasty had undergone fundamental changes during the late Chosun dynasty and Japanese colony period. This paper aims to analyse the spatial distributions and changes of the periodic markets in the middle stream of Han-River in this era in the use of the survey of documentary records and fieldwork. Before the early 1910s, long distance transportation was made by riverboats, short distance transportation was done by porters and pack animals. Because goods such as rice, soybean and salt were very heavy and needed long distance transport, they were mainly transported by riverboats. Accordingly, riverports on the shore of river played important roles in exporting and importing goods as nodes of long distance transportation. The opening of railroad Seoul-Busan, the construction of new roads(Sinjakno) of 1910s and the use of oxcarts produced striking changes in the spatial distribution and hierarchy structure of periodic markets. These changes also had influence on the outflow and inflow of goods in the middle stream of Han-River. In the parr of outflow of goods, it seems that the line linking Icheon city-Yongin city-Anseong city played a role in making the boundaries of the marketing areas between goods trams ported by the rail road Seoul-Busan and goods done by Han River river boats. Anseong, Osan and Suwon periodic markets located around railroad stations occupied the higher positions than those of other regions in the hierarchial structure of periodic markets. Their marketing areas could nearly overwhelm those of riverports located in the middle stream region of Han River and extend to the middle stream region of Han River as a result of decrease of transport cost through using of oxcarts and railroads. the opening of railroad Suwon-Yeoju(Suryoson) and railroad Cheonan-Janghawon(Cheonjangson) brought about changes of the structure of long distance trade again. In a part of outflow of goods, it seems that as a result of the new opening of their railroads periodic markets around railroads seized a large portion of the marketing area of the southern part of Yoju and Ichon area and therefore made extreme change in rivershipping of Han River. In the inflow part of goods, goods transported by riverboats from the downstream of Han River before the opening of railroad were imported directly from railroad stations. Accordingly, rivershipping and riverports declined. And because goods were imported by way of great periodic markets and supplied to small periodic markets and consumers before the opening of railroad, but supplied from railroad stations to small periodic markets and consumers after the opening of railroad. The volume of turnover of such great periodic markets as Anseong, Osan and Suwon periodic markets therefore declined. On the other hand, because Yangpyong area had not been yet included within the sphere of influence of railroad until 1930s, it heavily depended on rivershipping of Han River as before. But the opening of railroad Seoul-Wonju(jungangson) brought about decline of rivershipping in Yangpyong and Wonju area.
