We developed a GPS digital signal processing FPGA IP, SIGP-1001 to replace the obsolete GP2021 device, which has been used for many space-borne GPS receivers. From a series of tests, we verified that SIGP-1001 has equivalent performance to the GP2021 device under the same operating condition and concluded that SIGP-1001 can replace the GP2021 device. The reliability of a GPS receiver can be improved by using a space-grade FPGA with SIGP-1001 instead of the GP2021 device and its performance is expected to be improved by increasing the number of search channels.
Slipchip offers advantages such as high-throughout, low cost, and simple operation, and therefore, it is one of the technologies with the greatest potential for high-throughput, single-cell, and single-molecule analyses. Slipchip devices have achieved remarkable advances over the past decades, with its simplified molecular diagnostics gaining particular attention, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and in various infectious diseases scenarios. Medical testing based on nucleic acid amplification in the Slipchip has become a promising alternative simple and rapid diagnostic tool in field situations. Herein, we present a comprehensive review of Slipchip device advances in molecular diagnostics, highlighting its use in digital recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA), loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP), and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Slipchip technology allows users to conduct reliable droplet transfers with high-throughput potential for single-cell and molecule analyses. This review explores the device's versatility in miniaturized and rapid molecular diagnostics. A complete Slipchip device can be operated without special equipment or skilled handling, and provides high-throughput results in minimum settings. This review focuses on recent developments and Slipchip device challenges that need to be addressed for further advancements in microfluidics technology.
Objective: This study lays its aims at the definition of relevant operation method and function by researching on the value to be brought when applying smart device that can hand carry soft and flexible materials like jelly. Background: New technology and material play a role in bringing type transformation of interface and change of operation system. Recently, importance has been increased on the study of Organic User Interface (OUI) that conducts research on the value of new method of input and output adopting soft and flexible materials for various instruments. Method: For fulfillment of the study, 27 kinds of gestures have been defined that are usable in handheld device based on existing studies. Quantitative research of survey was conducted of adult male and female of 20s through 30s and an analysis was done on the function that can be linked to gestures with highest level of satisfaction. In order to analyze needs and hurdles of users for the defined gesture, a focus group interview was conducted aiming at the groups of early adopters and ordinary users. Results: As a result, it was found that users have much value regarding usability and fun for elastic device and analysis could be conducted on preferred gesture and its linkable functions. Conclusion: What is most significant with this study is that it sheds new light on the values of a device made of elastic material. Beyond finding and defining the gestures and functions that can be applied to a handheld elastic device, the present study identified the value elements of an elastic device - 'usability and 'fun' -, which users can basically desire from using it. Application: The data that this study brought forth through preference and satisfaction test with the gestures and associated functions will help commercialize an elastic device in future.

Background: The gamma emission tomography (GET) device has been reported a reliable technique to inspect partial defects within spent nuclear fuel (SNF) of pin-by-pin level. However, the existing GET devices have low accuracy owing to the high attenuation and scatter probability for SNF inspection condition. The purpose of this study is to design and optimize a Yonsei single-photon emission computed tomography version 2 (YSECT.v.2) for fast inspection of SNF in water storage by acquisition of high-quality tomographic images. Materials and Methods: Using Geant4 (Geant4 Collaboration) and DETECT-2000 (Glenn F. Knoll et al.) Monte Carlo simulation, the geometrical structure of the proposed device was determined and its performance was evaluated for the 137Cs source in water. In a Geant4-based assessment, proposed device was compared with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)-authenticated device for the quality of tomographic images obtained for 12 fuel sources in a 14 × 14 Westinghouse-type fuel assembly. Results and Discussion: According to the results, the length, slit width, and septal width of the collimator were determined to be 65, 2.1, and 1.5 mm, respectively, and the material and length of the trapezoidal-shaped scintillator were determined to be gadolinium aluminum gallium garnet and 45 mm, respectively. Based on the results of performance comparison between the YSECT.v.2 and IAEA's device, the proposed device showed 200 times higher performance in gamma-detection sensitivity and similar source discrimination probability. Conclusion: In this study, we optimally designed the GET device for improving the SNF inspection accuracy and evaluated its performance. Our results show that the YSECT.v.2 device could be employed for SNF inspection.
Mobile communication technology is advancing forward to deliver more connected devices and richer content and applications. The number of subscriptions continues to grow along with an explosive increase in the mobile data traffic demand. Thereby, it creates a significant network capacity shortage concerns for mobile network operators. In order to address this problem, it is essential to increase the network capacity at a low additional cost. The device-to-device (D2D) communication based proximity service is believed to have a promising future mobile communication technology that is capable to create new mobile service opportunities and offload traffic to the eNB. In addition, it is also required to develop new mobile communication services and its business models not only to accommodate the increasing mobile traffic demand but also to foster profitability of mobile business service providers such as the network providers, contents providers and platform providers. In this article, we first analyze current mobile business eco-system in the context of CPNT based value chain. Then, propose service development framework and business model creation methodologies for the device-to-device communication based services in the beyond LTE/LTE-Advanced systems.
In an examination of the temporomandibular joint disc, MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a useful method, and it is necessary to conduct an examination with one's mouth open for a long time to observe the accurate position change of the disc. Thus, this study would produce a TMJ device, using the 3-D printing technology, which would maintain the state of opening the mouth and would evaluate its usefulness as compared to the existing fixed device. As compared to the image using the existing TMJ device, the image taken with the self-produced TMJ device with a 3-D printer showed a somewhat lower SNR, but there was no defect for a clinical use. It is judged that benefits to costs would increase, since it can be customized for the individual patient and can contribute to the production of similar tools by utilizing the 3-D printing technology.

Recently the interest on device-to-device (D2D) communication has been increased due to the growing popularization of smart phones and tablet PCs. However, existing device identification mechanisms of D2D communication provide a text-based long list of possible devices, which leads the users to avoid to use D2D techniques. In this paper, we propose a location-based device identification technique for D2D communication. This paper describes the algorithm, analyzes its accuracy using analytical models, and verifies the results using computer simulations. The proposed algorithm is more user-friendly and intuitive way than existing D2D techniques.

The systematic validation of the ITS devices' performance reliability is very important because it helps their performance reliability to be maintained in a certain level, enabling to assure the reliability of the collected data, processed data and provided information. Although the government's regulation, "Transportation Efficiency Act", which requires ITS devices to be validated, was passed in 2001, no systematic inspection and calibration procedures have been developed so far. Therefore, in this study the systematic and efficient inspection and calibration method or procedure is investigated by reviewing the similar cases and best practices in Korea and overseas and some recommendations are made.

A carbon nanotube-based nanoelectromechanical device in resonance is examined theoretically. Mechanical deflections are electrically induced and resonantly excited at the fundamental frequency in cantilevered carbon nanotube. The electrically conducting elastic beam with van der Waals interactions at the tip is used for the modeling of the carbon nanotube device. Due to the elastic, electrical, and van der Waals interactions, the total energy of the system shows the unsymmetric two-well potentials. The predictions can be made that the device exhibits its nonlinear dynamic features in the two-well potentials. Also it is predicted that the fundamental frequency of the carbon nanotube device was changed by the nonlinear interactions induced by electrical and van der Waals potentials between carbon nanotube and ground surface of the device.

This paper proposes a new haptic cue vehicle accelerator pedal device using magnetorheological(MR) brake. As a first step, an MR fluid-based haptic cue device is devised to be capable of rotary motion of accelerator pedal. Under consideration of spatial limitation, design parameters are optimally determined to maximize control torque using finite element method. The proposed haptic cue device is then manufactured and integrated with accelerator pedal. Its field-dependant torque is experimentally evaluated. Vehicle system emulating gear shifting and engine speed is constructed in virtual environment and communicated with the haptic cue device. Haptic cue algorithm using the feed-forward control algorithm is formulated to achieve optimal gear shifting in driving. Control performances are experimentally evaluated via feed-forward control strategy and presented in time domain.
