  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) design has been mandatory in Korea since 2016, and it has been gradually expanding in the industry, with a slow attempt to apply it in remodeling constructions. This is because Korea is facing a situation where many buildings are over 30 years old and require remodeling or reconstruction. The remodeling industry is also a growing market, as it saves construction time and cost compared to reconstruction. BIM is an ideal technology element for a competitive remodeling construction, as remodeling constructions face a complicated construction process from the start, including demolition, maintenance, and reinforcement to save the change process. However, there are still limitations in applying BIM to remodeling constructions, due to considerations of the existing building and the complicated requests of the inhabitants. BIM still has technical and environmental limitations for general use. In this study, I analyzed BIM application cases from existing studies and suggest what improvement points should be strengthened.

  • The construction workers might be at the risk of many occupational injuries and illnesses. To protect workers from various hazards, industrial health and hygiene systems were specified for the construction workers by law. It is important to know the actual health and safety(H&S) conditions by tasks and the characteristics of injuries and illnesses of construction workers. This study was designed to investigate the actual conditions of construction workers exposed to various harmful substances and work elements including evaluation of health status of each worker and general H&S system. Questionnaire was sent to 600 construction workers nationwide and totally 367 people responded to it having 61.67% of response rate. The common construction hazards were dust(29.6%), noise(19.3%), repetitive motions(12.0%), handling excessive heavy materials(11.2%) in order. The repetitive motions and handling heavy materials related to muscle disorders accounted for 23.2%. The accident and injury types were in order of overexertion, falling, overturning, dropping or flying, electric shock, collision, etc.

  • As a separate project unit, the domestic construction policy evaluation is independently evaluated and managed by different involvements, so that it has been difficult to have a consistent policy evaluation to be performed. In this paper, thus, it is aimed to give an overview of the evaluation system and issues of domestic construction policy and suggest strategies of a improved evaluation system by a comprehensive benchmarking of construction policy evaluation system of Japan. The implications of this paper will serve a basis of improvement of a better construction policy evaluation system in Korea.

  • With the growth of information and communication technologies adoption in construction projects, it could be anticipated that more property owners and construction firms will attempt to use electronic gears and gadgets for site monitoring or surveillance purposes. As the construction workers may be the major group of project team members being monitored, from managerial perspectives and for ethical reasons, it is essential to investigate their degree of acceptance on site monitoring systems. Indeed studies on office workplace monitoring suggest that a monitoring system could shape or control the behaviors of employees. With adequate refinements, their research models could be applicable in the construction industry. This paper presents a model for analyzing the antecedences that affect workers' acceptance level on electronic monitoring, and investigating if there is any behavioral change.

  • The domestic enterprises in order to secure the freshness location of market from the international competition which is keen are propelling a price and a quality high position strategy steadily. It is put in competitive situation with the overseas enterprises and even from construction industry it follows in construction market opening and there is not another idea to the research the management strategies, directions and focus competitive elements of the enterprise against, what it sees consequently and to rise to the priority where the competitive power reinforcement of the enterprise is important, it becomes. Competitive power of like this enterprise for a reinforcement the technique which induces a big interest 6 Sigma is technique from the many companies. 6 sigma preceding researches of manufacturing and service industry the fact that it is accomplished with the object which will carry most. The research which relates with construction industry is staying to an introduction of 6 sigma the investigation phase, the actual introduction introduces and "S" construction there is not only a possibility against the application result of having a limit because it is applying. It is like that but like referring to a minute description for the international competitive power security which it follows in the change which market environment is sudden 6 sigma the introduction will judge, indispensability development of the logical propriety against hereupon and it will reach and it verifies the question investigation for to lead, 6 sigma of the construction companies it confirms the application possibility and presents the propulsion model as 6 sigma the fact that overcoming the limit characteristic of that introduction application as objective of sample research means it will do.

  • To secure quality of dam construction needs appropriate construction duration. Tight construction schedule may have negative influence on infrastructure quality, work safety and maintenance cost. It is necessary to reflect proper construction duration in the planning phase. There have been standards for estimating construction duration of building and industrial complex development but dam construction have not. In order to estimate construction duration of CFRD, feasible study reports and design reports were analyzed to acquire available information. After that, considering on construction duration methods such as comparison with similar cases, approximate estimating formula, approximate quantity assumption were adapted to Critical Path items. Hence, this study present framework for construction duration estimating of CFRD in the planning phase. This framework can be applied other types of dam along the same line.

  • To deal with the water pollution arising from the construction site, this study raises the issues of management and laws and it suggest the efficient way to reduce water pollution by through the case studies. In order to study, seven cases were selected from "Construction Environmental Management Best Practice Competition" co - sponsored by Construction Association of Korea and Construction Environment Association. As a study result, there are problems that depending on the characteristic of the construction site environment simple alone settling facilities can not handle muddy and dirty water generated by the construction site. However, when the construction site applied improved water pollution control facilities with reflecting the characteristic of muddy and dirty water. The problem can be solved moreover it can achieve exceeded emission standard. Therefore new regulations and management with water pollution control facilities considering characteristic of environment is needed to cope with water pollution arising from the construction site.

  • The standard estimation system, used to estimate the predetermined cost of construction work, is measured by the standard and typical construction methods and field conditions. And the standard estimation system is applied to basic data for the measuring of construction cost, such as the consumed quantity of material, labor hours, and machinery cost. However it does not reflect sufficiently for the diversity and reality of constructions work Therefore, this study is recognized the necessity of new cost estimation models for the rational construction cost estimation. To improve estimation technique and construction ability, it was analyzed labor hours, production volume based on the work crew in construction work.

  • During the last few decades, several companies and research laboratories have developed construction robots in an effort to improve productivity, quality, and reduce construction time and safety concerns. Recently, domestic construction industry is also interested in developing the construction robots. However, the studies on the research and development process is impossible in real field. A existing research's object is the development of the research on the assumption that construction's environment is a fixed form, But real construction's environment is very dynamic and atypical. So it is very difficult that we apply construction automation and robots. In order to solve this problem, this study deduce influential factors on decision making of frame construction scheduling for automated construction.
