일개 자동차 부품 사업장의 노동조건 변화가 직무 스트레스 및 근골격계질환에 미친 영향 - 2004년부터 2022년까지 - (The Impact of Changes in Working Conditions at a Car Parts Manufacturing Plant on Job-related Stress and Musculoskeletal Disorders-2004 to 2022)

  • Objective: This study aims to investigate the impact of changes in working conditions on job-related stress and musculoskeletal disorders using the results of seven surveys conducted at a single workplace from 2004 to 2022 regarding factors hazardous to the musculoskeletal system. Additionally, the study aims to propose alternative methods of investigating factors hazardous to the musculoskeletal system. Methods: A car parts manufacturing plant where the same survey was taken seven times from 2004 to 2022 was selected and the survey data was analyzed. The main contents of the survey were weekly working hours, Borg's scale, work intensity, job-related stress, and the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms. The statistical analysis was performed using SAS (version 9.4). Results: The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, changes in working conditions have an impact on job-related stress. Secondly, changes in working conditions have an impact on work intensity indicators. Thirdly, changes in working conditions have an impact on the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms. Fourthly, even with an increase in age and length of service, job-related stress and musculoskeletal symptoms were alleviated when working conditions were improved. Conclusions: In order for measures to reduce musculoskeletal disorders to be successful, working conditions must not deteriorate, and it is necessary to demand revisions to regulations, etc. to reflect these points in the investigation of hazardous factors to the musculoskeletal system.

The Effect of Dental Hygienists' Empathy the Elderly on their Communication Skills

  • Purpose: As life expectancy increases and interest in oral health increases, the opportunity to visit the dentist increases. To provide safe dental care for elderly patients and accurately identify their needs. We aim to understand the impact of knowledge, image, and empathy for the elderly on communication skills. Research design, data, and methodology: This study conducted an online survey using a convenience sample of 201 dental hygienists working in dental hospitals and clinics from October 4 to October 6, 2023. The purpose of the survey was explained and consent was obtained in the research consent form before being conducted. Results: Differences in knowledge, image, empathy, and communication skills among the elderly include age, clinical experience, need for elderly-related education, and confidence in oral care in elderly patients with systemic diseases (p<0.05, p<0.01, p<0.001). The factor affecting communication skills toward the elderly was empathy (t=15.416(0.000***)). Conclusions: Through this study, the communication skills with the elderly is a basic quality and attitude that dental hygienists must have. Therefore, it is essential to develop and implement empathy and communication skills training programs for dental hygienists, which can significantly contribute to fostering a positive trust-based relationship between elderly patients and dental professionals. This proactive measure is crucial in preparing for the upcoming era of an increasingly aged society.

직무적합이 경력만족에 미치는 영향에서 일의 의미와 직무몰입의 이중매개 효과 (The Dual Mediation of Work Meaningfulness and Job Involvement on the Relationship Between Person-job Fit and Career Satisfaction)

  • 본 연구는 최근 직장인들과 인사담당자들의 관심을 받고 있는 직무적합, 일의의미, 직무몰입, 경력만족이 서로 어떠한 관계가 있는지를 확인하고자 하였다. 선행연구를 통해서 이들 변인들은 직무적합에서 시작하여 일의의미, 직무몰입을 거쳐 경력만족에 이르는 경로가 논리적으로 타당한 것으로 확인되었으며, 이러한 이중매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 283명의 직장인을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, SPSS 21과 Process Macro를 통하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 직무적합, 일의의미, 직무몰입, 경력만족은 각각 정적인 상관을 보였으며, 직무적합과 경력만족 간의 관계에 대한 일의의미와 직무몰입의 이중매개효과는 통계적으로 유의미한 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 일의의미와 직무몰입, 경력만족 등의 긍정적 심리변인의 수준을 높여 인적자원의 이탈을 막고, 조직의 지속적인 성과를 위해서 직장인이 자신의 직무가 자신의 특성과 적합하다고 지각할 수 있도록 직무를 설계할 필요가 있다는 것을 의미한다. 연구의 시사점, 한계점 그리고 향후 연구에 대한 제언 등을 결론에 제시하였다.

경상북도 산림자원 여건분석 및 지역 산림인재 정책 기초연구 (A Study on the Regional Forest Human Resources Policy based on the Forest Resource Conditions in Gyeongsangbuk-do)

  • The purpose of this study is to establish a linkage between local forest human resources policies and the analysis of forest resource conditions in Gyeongsangbuk-do. In particular, the study aims to gather insights from students enrolled local formal education institutions through a demand survey and their opinions. These findings would serve as basic data for the formulation of medium- and long-term policies. According to the results of the analysis, all surveyed groups expressed a desire to pursue careers, entrepreneurship, or further school education based on their forestry majors. Among, the most important needs identified for local human resources, receiving training related to field practice and access to information emerged as paramount. In addition, it was observed that educational programs were conducted on weekends and during school vacations, with integration into the school curriculum to ensure participants not only benefit from self-development but also receive administrative support. A notable observation in the survey results was the absence of a network among forest professionals, signifying a key weakness within the forest sector in Gyeongsangbuk-do. The results of this study hold significant value in terms of analyzing and sharing the educational preferences of forest human resources in Gyeongsangbuk-do, thereby serving as basic research data for proposing policies. In the future, by expanding the scope to include case studies and forest human resource preference analyses through cooperation with other local governments and institutions, the research can contribute to the establishment of national-level policies for forest human resources on a broader scale.

The notch of the mandible: what do different fields call it?

  • The bony notch on the inferior border of the mandible, anterior to the attachment of the masseter muscle, where the facial vessels commonly pass, has been called different names in the literature, e.g., premasseteric notch, antegonial notch, and notch for the facial vessels. Interestingly, various disciplines have leaned toward different names for this notch. Therefore, to aid in consistent communication among professionals, the present study aimed to analyze usage of these varied terms and make recommendations for the best terminology. Based on the adjacent anatomical structures used to name this notch, three groups were analyzed in this study, a group using masseter in the term, a group using gonion in the term, and a group using facial vessels in the term. A literature search found that the group using gonion in the term was found most in the literature. The orthodontics field used gonion in the term the most (29.0%: 31/107) followed by the oral and maxillofacial surgery field (14.0%: 15/107), the plastic surgery field (4.7%: 5/107), and the anatomy field (3.7%: 4/107). The dental field used gonion in this term the most (43.9%: 47/107) and the medical field used facial vessels in the term the most (33.3%: 6/18). Based on these results, the use of gonial terms for this notch seems to be preferred.

국내 공공도서관의 코로나19 팬데믹 관련 대응 및 재난발생시 기대되는 역할 연구 (Public Libraries' Response to COVID-19 Pandemic and Expected Roles in Upcoming Disasters: A Case Study of South Korea)

  • 2020년, 신종 코로나바이러스 감염병(COVID-19)은 전 세계를 강타하였다. 국가를 망라하여 인류의 생명을 위협했을 뿐만 아니라 사회, 경제적 등 다방면으로 타격을 입혔다. 본 연구는 코로나19 팬데믹 상황에서 국내 공공도서관이 어떻게 대응했는지, 나아가 직면한 어려움은 무엇이었는지 이해하고, 앞으로 다가올 또 다른 재난상황에서 공공도서관은 어떠한 역할을 기대하는지를 알아보고자 진행하였다. 317명의 국내 공공도서관 사서들에게 온라인 설문응답을 확보하였고, spss를 통해 응답을 분석하였다. 또한 양적연구의 한계를 보완하기 위하여, 설문지에 주관식 질문을 추가하여 사서들의 자유로운 의견을 청취하였다. 그 결과, 팬데믹 상황에서 사서들은 다양한 새로운 서비스를 제공하고자 노력하였고, 비대면및 온라인서비스 제공의 어려움을 보고하였다. 또한, 15.5%의 응답자만이 도서관 직원을 위한 워크샵을 경험하였으며, 53.3%의 사서들은 소독 등 방역업무 추가로 인한 업무과중을 보고하였다. 차후에 감염병으로 인한 재난상황이 닥쳤을 때에는 공공도서관의 다수의 역할들 가운데 다양한 정보자원을 제공함으로써 대중을 안내하는 정보 제공자로서의 역할이 가장 중요함을 시사하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과를 토대로 타 국가 도서관들의 대응과 재난상황시 기대되는 역할을 비교 및 대조하며 향후 연구에 대한 시사점을 논의하였다.

강원특별자치도 무장애 관광 활성화 방안 연구: FGI를 중심으로 (A study on the promotion of Gangwon State barrier-free tourism)

  • Purpose - Focusing on the FGI research method, the current status and issues of barrier-free tourism in Gangwon State were identified, and specific activation plans were derived Design/methodology/approach - This study conducted in-depth interviews with 20 experts related to the tourism industry. The issues, current status, and activation plan of barrier-free tourism in Gangwon State recognized by experts in tourism policy, tourism administration, tourism management, and tourism service industry were derived. Findings - First, the tendency of businesses to be promoted based on the non-disabled by not recognizing the weak as the main tourism demand group, second, confusion caused by the unification of terms related to barrier-free tourism, third, lack of finding tourism constraints subdivided according to the type and degree of disability, fourth, tourism information and evaluation indicators provided by prioritizing the convenience of suppliers rather than consumers, and fifth, the nature of the project focused on improving access to physical infrastructure. Subsequently, the results of the analysis of the plan to revitalize the barrier-free tourism industry in Gangwon State were as follows. First, education and programs to improve disability awareness appropriate to local conditions were activated, second, related information was unified and project sustainability was improved by creating a control tower for the barrier-free tourism industry at the provincial level, third, to overcome the employment crisis based on finding locally tailored jobs related to tourism care professionals, and fourth, to continuously secure quantitative and qualitative data and establish utilization plans. Research implications or Originality - First, it presents theoretical implications for related fields by providing issues and activation measures related to barrier-free tourism from the perspective of experts who are still lacking in research in academia. The practical implications are that based on the opinions of experts working in the tourism field, more specific issues of the barrier-free tourism industry in the province were presented, and policy and practical solutions were presented accordingly, suggesting realistic alternatives that can be carried out in the actual field.

Online resources for information on shoulder arthroplasty: an assessment of quality and readability

  • Background: Many patients use online resources to educate themselves on surgical procedures and make well-informed healthcare decisions. The aim of our study was to evaluate the quality and readability of online resources exploring shoulder arthroplasty. Methods: An internet search pertaining to shoulder arthroplasty (partial, anatomic, and reverse) was conducted using the three most popular online search engines. The top 25 results generated from each term in each search engine were included. Webpages were excluded if they were duplicates, advertised by search engines, subpages of other pages, required payments or subscription, or were irrelevant to our scope. Webpages were classified into different source categories. Quality of information was assessed by HONcode certification, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) criteria, and DISCERN benchmark criteria. Webpage readability was assessed using the Flesch reading ease score (FRES). Results: Our final dataset included 125 web pages. Academic sources were the most common with 45 web pages (36.0%) followed by physician/private practice with 39 web pages (31.2%). The mean JAMA and DISCERN scores for all web pages were 1.96±1.31 and 51.4±10.7, respectively. The total mean FRES score was 44.0±11.0. Only nine web pages (7.2%) were HONcode certified. Websites specified for healthcare professionals had the highest JAMA and DISCERN scores with means of 2.92±0.90 and 57.96±8.91, respectively (P<0.001). HONcode-certified webpages had higher quality and readability scores than other web pages. Conclusions: Web-based patient resources for shoulder arthroplasty information did not show high-quality scores and easy readability. When presenting medical information, sources should maintain a balance between readability and quality and should seek HONcode certification as it helps establish the reliability and accessibility of the presented information. 법률정보허브로서 법원도서관의 지식정보공유 기능과 역할 강화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Legal Information Landmark, Court Library, Knowledge Information Sharing, Function and Role Expansion, Legal Information Hub)

  • 본 연구에서는 법원도서관이 법률정보허브로서 어떻게 지식정보공유의 기능과 역할을 강화할 수 있는지에 대해 다각도로 조명하고자 하며, 이를 위해 문헌조사, 사례조사, 관계자 면담, 그리고 이용자를 대상으로 한 설문을 기반으로 현황을 총체적으로 파악하고, 이를 기반으로 법원도서관이 법률 지식의 보급과 공유에 있어서 중추적인 역할을 할 수 있는 방안을 모색하여 제시하고자 하였다. 연구결과, 법원도서관의 역할 및 기능으로, 4가지의 사법부 지식정보 공유 복합센터로서의 역할, 다섯 가지의 사법부 지식정보 공유 복합센터로서의 기능, 그리고 9가지의 법률 문화 확산을 위한 접근성 확대 방안을 제안하였다. 이렇게 법원도서관이 법률 지식 문화 대중화라는 목표를 가지고 차세대 공유 복합 센터로서의 기능을 수행한다면, 법률과 문화에 관심이 많은 국민과 법률 관련 기관 및 교육 기관 종사자, 센터의 근접지역에 거주하고 있는 국민을 상대로 법률 지식 접근성을 확대할 수 있을 것이다.

The Impact of COVID-19 on Healthcare Services in Bangladesh: A Qualitative Study on Healthcare Providers' Perspectives

  • Objectives: The objective of this study was to explore healthcare providers' experiences in managing the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and its impact on healthcare services. Methods: A qualitative study was conducted with 34 healthcare professionals across 15 districts in Bangladesh. Among the participants, 24 were health managers or administrators stationed at the district or upazila (sub-district) level, and 10 were clinicians providing care to patients with COVID-19. The telephone interviews were conducted in Bangla, audio-recorded, transcribed, and then translated into English. Data were analyzed thematically. Results: Most interviewees identified a range of issues within the health system. These included unpreparedness, challenges in segregating COVID-19 patients, maintaining isolation and home quarantine, a scarcity of intensive care unit beds, and ensuring continuity of service for non-COVID-19 patients. The limited availability of personal protective equipment, a shortage of human resources, and logistical challenges, such as obtaining COVID-19 tests, were frequently cited as barriers to managing the pandemic. Additionally, changes in the behavior of health service seekers, particularly increased aggression, were reported. The primary motivating factor for healthcare providers was the willingness to continue providing health services, rather than financial incentives. Conclusions: The COVID-19 pandemic presented a unique set of challenges for health systems, while also providing valuable lessons in managing a public health crisis. To effectively address future health crises, it is crucial to resolve a myriad of issues within the health system, including the inequitable distribution of human resources and logistical challenges.
