The purpose of this study was to identify the status of fashion related subjects in colleges and to utilize it as a basic material to develop a better curriculum. To do this, 43 2-year colleges or 63 majors in Korea were analyzed. From the analysis of the locations of the colleges with fashion related majors, it was found that 51.2% schools with fashion related majors were located in the Capital area. When looking at the division to which fashion related departments belong, it was found that 35.5% belonged to design related division, and 22.6% belonged to Art and Physical Education Division. When analyzing the subjects of the colleges with Fashion Design Department (Major), the subject which took the biggest ratio was Clothing Construction and Pattern Drafting as 32.8% and the next was Design Area as 31.5%. In case of Fashion Stylist Department (Major), the subject area with the biggest share was Design Field (49.5%). If looking into segmented classification, design related subjects were 20.9%, and styling related subjects were 17.9%. In Fabric and Fashion related department, the subject with the biggest ratio was Dying and Textile Design as 40.4%, and Fabric related subjects were the next as 22.3%. In the Broadcasting Stylist related departments, the subjects of with the biggest ratio was Fashion Design related subjects as 37% and the next was Beauty related ones as 30.2%. According to the study result, it could be concluded that Fashion related departments in the colleges located in the Capital area focused on the subjects to nurture a fashion designer and their curricula are not specialized or differentiated but somewhat similar one another.
Generation MZ has emerged as a significant consumer segment and trendsetter in the fashion market of South Korea. Fashion designer brands have become popular among this generation by offering a range of fashion content on social network services (SNS) based on fresh and trendy designs. Despite the growing market share of fashion designer brands in the industry, previous research has mainly focused on brand personality in line with the characteristics of traditional fashion brands. Therefore, this study aims to derive brand personality and SNS characteristics of fashion designer brands based on previous research and investigate the influence of these factors on brand preference and behavioral intention. Moreover, it examines how this influencing mechanism fluctuates based on the consumer type (i.e., innovative type vs. price-sensitive type). Based on an online survey of 256 Korean adults with experience in fashion designer brands, this study identified the influencing mechanisms on purchase intention and word-of-mouth intention. This study contributes to empirical investigations of consumer brand preference and behavior intention in fashion designer brands through the brand equity model. It also offers insight into developing a segmented brand strategy by considering the variations in the influence mechanism of behavioral intention across different consumer types.
Clothing is a powerful medium that reflects the environment, situation, and trends of the times. It has been an important subject of semiotic analysis, particularly in East Asia. While Korea, China, Japan, and Mongolia are geographically close, they have each developed unique characteristics in their clothing. These characteristics continue to evolve over time. The purpose of this paper is to explore the modern fashion design characteristics of these four East Asian countries by using the Greimas symbol square. To achieve this, the paper follows a research method consisting of several steps. First, it considers previous studies on the topic. Second, it analyzes fashion collections from Paris, Milan, New York, and London, as well as the Seoul and Cruise collections, from 2013 to 2024. Third, it compares costumes and modern fashion designs of brands known for their East Asian influences. Finally, it applies the framework of the Greimas symbol square to analyze the main elements of dress culture in these four countries and their significance in modern fashion collections. The findings of this study reveal that East Asian costume culture can be summarized into four distinct characteristics in modern fashion. Korea is characterized by "moderation," China by "exaggeration," Japan by "distinctiveness," and Mongolia by "symbolism."
The purpose of this study is to examine negative IT performances produced by irrational fashion-mimic IT investments in firms. Since most studies have been carried out on the assumption of rational investment decisions, many of them have revealed positive investment process and performances in firms. However, fashion-mimic investments to follow the paths of market leaders rather than rational investment decisions have been of frequent occurrence in many firms. This study divided types of mimic investments into subgroups where one subgroup has fashion-mimic properties and the other subgroup retains rational-mimic properties. We compared differences in performance of these subgroups to investigate effects of irrational investments in IT projects. The results indicated that there are differences in performance between fashion-mimic and rational-mimic investments. Additional analysis also revealed differences in performance at the presence of CEO control in the case of fashion-mimic investment subgroup.

This study examined on the most noticeable game industry in a digital era, and on the definition and feature of post-digital generation enjoying it, along with the relations with the game. Especially, this paper examined correlations between game characters' fashion and pop singers' fashion targeting post-digital generation enjoying games. As the result of this study, on-line game's popularity affected popular culture and game business and popular stars have close interrelation. In addition, through variosus objective surveys, the game characters' fashion was classified into five images before being analyzed; fighter's image, retro image, surreal image, sensual image, and unisexual image. The game characters' fashion wasn't only analyzed also studied correlation between on-line game character's fashion and pop singers' fashion by five images. Consequently in case of game characters' fashion, it influenced on pop singers' fashion targeting teens and twenties enjoying games, which meant fashion connections between game characters and pop singers.

Trend and fashion have very close relationship and if it is fully comprehended, it will be good opportunity to awkardness againnst new fashion line.

The denim fashion is a style of clothing showing trends towards globalization in that it is most favored and most frequently purchased and worn by youngsters throughout the world. However, it differs from region to region in its shapes, colors, silhouettes and coordination, reflecting a feature of regionalism. Male denim fashion data were collected from large cities of the East and the West for an analysis in terms of design and coordination. It was found that a common point originated from the features of the clothing itself as well as from a common culture shared among those of similar ages while differences came from various factors such as aesthetic sentiments and lifestyle of each ethnic group, willingness to accept the fashion trends, and the ways of expressing oneself by means of clothing and their attitude towards clothing. It was noteworthy that the denim fashion in Europe and America, Beijing and Seoul differed largely owing to their different tastes for expressing themselves. A comparison study of the regional denim styles may lead to a better understanding of a worldwide phenomenon of the common fashion trends and regional differences in aesthetic appeal and the fashion preference.
The purpose of this paper is to seek ways to improve the competitiveness of Korea's fashion industry by utilizing the source of competitiveness of Japan's fashion industry, which represents the world's leading countries in terms of fashion, so that Korea can better enter the global fashion market. The study shall first compare the competitiveness of the Japanese and Korean fashion industries by utilizing the generalized double diamond model; second, provide an understanding of what the Japanese fashion industry can offer to Korean fashion industry and companies - that is, understand what the Japanese fashion industry's competitive edge is; and third, study the kind of global competitiveness that Korea's fashion industry must achieve. To adopt a generalized double diamond model to compare the competitiveness of the Korean and Japanese fashion industries, we selected 31 sub-variables to act as determinants of the model. That is, we extracted 31sub-variables by doing research of literature to analyze national competitiveness of the fashion industries. To measure these 31 sub-variables, secondary data was gathered. We collected data related to each sub-variable from various sources of Korea and Japan. And to calculate the competitiveness index, we took three steps with reference to previous studies. We found that status of the fashion industry of the two countries as it stands. That is, Japan is an advanced country of which fashion industry is domestic market-oriented while Korea is a small open economy that mainly focuses on the foreign market. Out of 31 proxy variables, Korea's fashion industry shows higher measurements relating to production and export than Japan, but Japan's fashion industry reports higher measurements than Korea in the fields of R&D, design and brand power, the rate of value added, the efficiency of companies and globalization. In order for Korea's fashion industry to achieve competitiveness in the global market, it should pursue the following development direction. First, it is very difficult for Korea to follow the footsteps of the U.S. and Japanese fashion industries that are able to take advantage of economies of scale, because Korea is smaller than those countries. Therefore, in the case of small economies such as Singapore, strengthening of international activities will practically improve domestic determinants that Korea should improve its domestic diamond by enhancing the current competitiveness of its international diamond. In other words, Korea needs to further endeavor to develop and expand global resources and markets as well as improve its competitiveness in terms of R&D, design and brand power, the rate of value-added, and the efficiency of companies. As the Korean fashion industry shows relatively advanced level of information technology and the fashion education system, it has considerable potential to grow. Korea is expected to have a huge growth potential since it has relatively higher level of information technology, fashion education system and activities than those of Japan in both the domestic diamond and international diamond. In particular, a better environment is laid out before Korea to gain competitiveness in the fashion industry due to the recently growing influence of the Korean Wave that Korea is expected to grow as a leader in the Asian market as well as in the global market.

The purpose of this study is to rediscover the hidden value of non-mainstreamers style which has been overlooked for the past decade by investigate the aesthetics and formative features of the Grunge fashion. The Grunge fashion was derived from explosive popularity of the early 90's grunge music. Grunge was the alternative anti-thesis against mainstream pop music and anti-fashion against mainstream fashion.
