  • As Daniel Bell says, that modern society is an information society. In contrast to earlier days, modern society has placed a high value on information and knowledge. Therefore, modern civilization depends largely on information and knowledged, which is the most valuable sources of all intelligence activities. By coordinating a large number of human action, the information creates a powerful social tool. It combines its personnel with its resources and new materials at various level. At the same time, It continually evaluates how well it is performing and tries to adjust itself accordingly in order to achieve social goals. As we shall see, all this allows information to sew the various needs of society. In connection with above mentioned problem consciousness, the study is designed to sew the following purposes. As its title indicates, and perhaps most significant. This study is to review and reinterpret the existing literature on local telecommunication system, networks, and policy direction in order to arrive at a somewhat more general approach to understanding them. In local telecommunications service, the service exploitation and promotion and database development must be accomplished by establishing local telecommunications. If we develop local telecommunications toward the progressing direction, we would dissolve the regional information disparity and could also make the local policy suited for high-intelligence society. It is true of any science that knowledge is never complete. It is also true of a science that knowledge should grow, through systematic reexamination of the body of findings. There are certainly true of this study on the developmental direction for local telecommunication system.

  • In 21st Century business world, services are carried out in multifaceted, competitive and rationality manner that are characterized by evolving many factors, which are often unpredictable. On-the-go banking is a product in financial sector. However, it faces serious pitfalls being it riskiness. Bank customers compete for time-saving options. On contrary, PCBs compete for marginalizing its operating costs for enhancing its revenues. On strategic tactics, PCBs targets city customers in multi-facets including offering incentives for enhanced usages of on-the-go banking. Influencing customer's intention, attitude and behavior in banking, PCBs also offers incentive under market system along with often informational asymmetry. However, it causes exploitation. In most cases customers don't read terms & conditions of services. They don't save contract-copy. These weaknesses cause abuses. Customer faces hidden charges, extra fees, account hacked. Addressing the issue, Voluntary Insurance Option is proposed where PCBs will introduce it as a product of bank-services. Transferring risk away from customer will benefit both PCBs and bank-customers. This product can attract new customers who were on the brink using digital banking but just felt it was too risky. This model can facilitate the parties involved for increasing usage of on-the-go banking-services while customers can maintain optimal utility of usages.

  • Recently, population based optimization algorithms are developed to deal with a variety of optimization problems. In this paper, the salp swarm algorithm (SSA) is dramatically enhanced and a new algorithm is named Enhanced Salp Swarm Algorithm (ESSA) which is effectively utilized in optimization problems. To generate the ESSA, an opposition-based learning and merit function methods are added to standard SSA to enhance both exploration and exploitation abilities. To have a clear judgment about the performance of the ESSA, firstly, it is employed to solve some mathematical benchmark test functions. Next, it is exploited to deal with engineering problems such as optimally designing the benchmark buildings equipped with multiple tuned mass damper (MTMD) under earthquake excitation. By comparing the obtained results with those obtained from other algorithms, it can be concluded that the proposed new ESSA algorithm not only provides very competitive results, but also it can be successfully applied to the optimal design of the MTMD.

  • Purpose - This study aims to examine the relationship between flexible Human Resource Management (HRM) and individual ambidexterity and the moderating effect of trust in management. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected 971 survey data from employees in Korea. The Confimatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and the multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Findings - First, the flexible human resource management have a positive effect on individual ambidexterity. Second, trust in management positively moderate the relationship between flexible human resource management and individual ambidexterity. Research implications or Originality - First, this study is critical that it examines individual ambidexterity and antecedent factor, which have not been relatively researched in Korea. This study is meaningful in that it revealed that the individual ambidexterity can be increased through flexible human resource management. Second, individual ambidexterity may vary depending on the characteristics of the human resource management system. Third, it is important to find the boundary condition of trust in management. By finding conditions that enhance the effect of flexible human resource management on individual ambidexterity, it also provides practical implications applicable to companies.

  • Unicellular green algae of the genus Dunaliella thrive in extreme environmental conditions such as high salinity, low pH, high irradiance and subzero temperatures. Species of Dunaliella are well known in the alga biotechnological industry and are employed widely for the production of valuable biochemicals, such as carotenoids. Some strains of Dunaliella are cultivated commercially in large outdoor ponds and are harvested to produce dry algal meals, such as polyunsaturated fatty acids and oils for the health food industry, and coloring agents for the food and cosmetic industries. During the past decade, the advances in molecular biology and biochemistry of microalgae, along with the advances in biotechnology of microalgal mass cultivation, enabled this microalga to become a staple of commercial exploitation. In particular, the advent of molecular biology and mutagenesis in Dunaliella has permitted enhancements in the carotenoids content of this green alga, making it more attractive for biotechnological applications. Accordingly, the present review summarizes the recent developments and advances in biotechnology of carotenoid production in Dunaliella.

  • Advanced control is getting increasingly demanded in water and wastewater treatment systems. Various case studies have shown significant savings in operating costs, including energy costs, and remarkably short payback times. It has been demonstrated that instrumentation, control and automation (ICA) may increase the capacity of biological nutrient removing wastewater treatment plants by 10-30% today. With further understanding and exploitation of the mechanisms involved in biological nutrient removal the improvements due to ICA may reach another 20-50% of the total system investments within the next 10-20 years. Disturbances are the reason for control of any system. In a wastewater treatment system they are mostly related to the load variations, but many disturbances are created also within the plant. In water supply systems some of the major disturbances are related the customer demand as well as to leakages or bursts in the pipelines or the distribution networks. Hardly any system operates in steady state but is more or less in a transient state all the time. Water and energy are closely related. The role of energy in water and wastewater operations is discussed. With increasing energy costs and the threatening climate changes this issue will grow in importance.

  • There is worldwide interest in buffalo as an animal for meeting the growing demands of meat, milk and work in the developing countries. One of the major constraints to full exploitation of the productive potential of buffalo has been its inherently low reproductive efficiency as reflected by late maturity, poor expression of oestrus, silent oestrus, irregular oestrous cyclicity, seasonality in breeding, anoestrus, low conception rate, long postpartum interval, repeat breeding etc. Ovarian cyclicity is regulated by endocrine and neuroendocrine mechanisms namely hypothalamic hormones, gonadotropins and ovarian steroids. Detailed endocrine investigations are suggested with special reference to the hypothalamo-hypophysial-ovarian axis to gain a better understanding of reproduction in buffalo and to modify it to derive the maximum benefit from this animal.

  • Compared to the industrial society, the knowledge-based economy of the 21st century has placed importance on intellectual capital as a sustainable competitive advantage of an organization. The ownership, creation, and interaction of intellectual capital is emerging as the main challenges of the management and, moreover, it might extend to the issue of intellectual capital management. This research found that the exploitation and sharing of knowledge was more efficient in a networked organization through a case study for A research institute, which attempted intellectual capital management domestically for the first time. The contribution of this exploratory research is to suggest new perspectives on the ownership of intangible asset, the evaluation of knowledge-based product, and the competitive advantage and complementarity of an organization in the knowledge-based economy. The limitation is that this research is just exploratory due to the inaccessibility of data. If the intellectual capital management would be more common, the diverse researches should be empirically carried out.

  • In meteorology, exploitation of Kalman filter as a data assimilation system is virtually impossible due to simultaneous requirements of adjoint model and large computer resource. The other substitute of utilizing ensemble Kalman filter is only affordable by compensating an enormous usage of computing resource. Furthermore, the latter employs ensemble integration sets for evolving the background error covariance matrix by compensating the dynamical feature of the temporal evolution of weather conditions. We propose a new implementation method that works without the adjoint model by utilizing the explicit expression of the background error covariance matrix in backward evolution. It will also break a barrier in the evolution of the covariance matrix. The method may be applied with a slight modification to the real time assimilation or the retrospective analysis.
