  • This paper presents new diagnosis technique for detecting a partial discharge(PD) using antenna. The wavelet transform is applied for the analysis of PD pulse signal because it is difficult to identify PD signal using electromagnetic waves detected by antenna. The capabilities of the proposed diagnosis methodology for detecting PD signal is verified on experiment in laboratory.

  • The system discussed in this paper is an integrated stand-alone system with the full functional capabilities required of a telerobot system. It is complete with a force-reflecting 6-DOF hand controller, driving a PUMA 560 or 762 robot, with an integrated force-torque sensing wrist sensor and servo-driven parallel jaw gripper. A mix of custom and standard electronics, distributed computers and microprocessors, with embedded and downloadable software, have been integrated into the system, giving rise to a powerful and flexible teleautonomous control system.

  • Protoplanetary disks (PPDs) are a natural consequence of star formation and play crucial roles in planet formation. Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) has provided sub-mm data for the PPDs with a high angular resolution and sensitivity, and it makes us enable to study PPDs in detail. We have developed Packages of Unified modeling for Radiative transfer, gas Energetics, and Chemistry (PUREC), which consists of a self-consistent thermo-chemical model and line and continuum radiative transfer models, in order to interpret and predict the ALMA observations for PPDs. In this talk, we introduce capabilities of PUREC.

  • Conventional back propagation learning is generally characterized by slow and rather inaccurate learning which makes it difficult to use in control applications. A new multilayer perception architecture and its learning algorithm is proposed that consists of a Kohonen front layer followed by a back propagation network. The Kohonen layer selects a subset of the hidden layer neurons for local tuning. This architecture has been tested on the inverse kinematic solution of robot manipulator while demonstrating its fast and accurate learning capabilities.

  • Although digitalization of broadcast waves is extending the multichannel programming capabilities of broadcasting, it does not fully exploit the potentiality of the digital evolution in broadcasting. ISDB has been put forth as second-generation digital broadcasting which offers a basis for a universal service in the future multimedia environment, and opens many new possibilities for services and their use. The paper is divided into three parts: A vision of the future of broadcasting, Evolution towards ISDB - integrated Services Television, and Technology development.

  • This paper deals with the compensation of the impact of highly varying loads on the power system using a static var compensator (SVC). A procedure to determine a suitable capacity of the compensator is proposed, and it is implemented using PSCAD/EMTDC. The proposed method is applied to a test system to illustrate its capabilities.

  • The persons who realize e-Business should have capabilities of understanding in both information technology and business processes. It is expected that current education policies and systems could not meet needs of e-Business human resources in Korea. In this paper, we define and categorize human resources for e-Business as to application areas and expertise levels. An intensive field survey has been conducted. Based on the survey results, several strategic and practical alternatives are suggested for development of e-Business human resources in Korea.

  • It can be said that the current ULSI technology has been supported and/or accomplished by a major challenge to the clean room environment and the ultrapure water equipment manufacturers as to contamination control. The required improvement in ultrapure water quality, which is shown in Figure 1, would not have been possible without significant improvements in membrane performance and enhancements in analytical capabilities.

  • The present study is a review to determine by what bodies and through what mechanisms the national industrial information policy is implemented and administered, that is what is its content and how it is linked to industrial and technological needs in the field of industrial firms. There are lacking essential capabilities required to transfer industrial information and to channel it to ultimate users. It is not possible to identify users' information needs adequately, to acquire pertinent information, to adapt it to prevailing conditions, to disseminate it to those who need it. Various organizations work to meet the specific information requirements of industry. These organizations include governmental agencies, industrial associations, research institutes and information centers. They have, however, developed independently without liaison among them. They may be some unnecessary duplication in some spheres and inadequate facilities in others. A n.0, ppropriate institutions which provide industrial information would be industrial associations, industrial research and development institutes. They serve as a coupling mechanism between industry and the existing information facilities.
