A Study on the policy for export competitiveness enforcement of Korean Service Industry (한국 서비스산업의 수출경쟁력 강화정책에 관한 연구)

  • Korea's trade balance in service showed surplus in 2012 on the basis of BPM5. This is recorded by 14 years since 1999. This owes to decrease of deficit in tourism balance, increase of surplus in construction and transportation, and shift from deficit to surplus, even in small portion, in personal cultural recreational services balance. While externally the global economic growth becomes inactive and the Korean Won has appreciated, internally Korean service industry is very weak and is not equipped with international competitiveness. This study intends to look into service surplus items and services deficit items and to present measures that will be able to strengthen competitiveness in service industry. As a short case study, German and Japan was benchmarked, as they are the countries which are developed on the basis of manufacturing like Korea. And in this study, by analyzing surplus items and deficit items in trade balance sheet, it is attempted to suggest policies which would be available for strengthening service industry. As the service industry is a highly value-added one, it is necessary to designate promising categories and intensively foster as strategic industry. Service industry has their own characteristics distinguished with manufacturing goods. It has very different logistics and payment system with manufacturing industry. It means there must be independent support systems which reflect the nature of industrial classification in service industry. It is necessary to provide export support system, to organize export market development group, to support marketing, to set common logistics center, to support diplomatic means, to provide legal service and so on.

  • The object of this study is to build service model that combines developing IT technology with construction filed. It combines existing traditional construction project with high-tech IT choosingly, diverting construction project from labour-intensive to value-added technology-intensive industry. By doing so, it plans improving productivity and creation of new market. Now most ideal field of combining construction with IT technology is U-City industry that is being emphasized recently. Therefore, For this study, We analyze present condition of several IT technology used in construction and U-City project. Also, determining priority of promising IT technology for requirement analysis of consumer. And it proposes plan for construction of U-City service model through prospect and environment analysis of U-City and IT industry.

  • LED 가시광 조명통신 산업의 큰 가능성에도 불구하고 현재 대부분 일본의 기술내지는 서비스 모델을 따라 가는 것에 급급하고 있어 향후 LED 가시광 조명통신 관련 사업에서 주도적 역할을 쥐기 위해서는 관련 핵심기술 개발 노력뿐만 아니라 응용 애플리케이션 산업에도 큰 관심을 기울여야 할 것이다. 이에 본 고에서는 LED 가시광 조명통신 기술을 기반으로 한 유비쿼터스 서비스 모델에 대한 사례조사 및 체계적인 분석을 통하여 그 가능성을 제시하였다.

The Growth of the IT Service Industry and the Role of Public Organizations in Fairfax County (미국 페어팩스 카운티 IT서비스산업의 성장과 공공부문의 역할)

  • This study aims to understand regional specificity and its impact on the IT service industry in Fairfax County. Fairfax County primarily specializes in the IT service in the United States, and it has cultivated a resilient and unique industrial environment. Business-related initiatives by the federal government have resulted in the influx and expansion of IT service firms, the formation of new small firms, the abundance of skilled workers, and the growth of the IT services related with the federal procurement market, though the government policies do not explicitly intend to affect the industrial path in Fairfax County. Meanwhile, local institutions have provided various programs and services for both incumbent firms and potential entrants, and have recently focused on the accumulation and leverage of relational assets among economic actors through a variety of networking venues.

  • 근래 한국 IT 산업의 성장률과 경쟁력은 전반적으로 둔화 추세에 있으며, IT 제조업과 IT 서비스업의 불균형 또한 심각한 수준이다. 특히 IT 서비스업의 세계시장 점유율은 1%에 불과한 실정으로 시장성장 한계, 신규서비스 활성화 미흡, 지출여력 한계 등의 여러 원인이 지적되고 있다. 한편, 이러한 IT 서비스 산업의 성장 한계를 극복하기 위해 '융합(convergence)'이 대두되어 왔으며, IPTV가 방송-통신 융합을 주도하는 핵심적 미디어로 진화하고 있는 중이다. 그러나 IPTV의 기술적 진화가 반드시 시장 확산과 발전을 이끌어 내지는 않을 것이며, 정부규제, 콘텐츠 수급, 고객니즈, 마케팅전략 등 여러 측면에서의 고려가 병행되어야만 한다. 이같은 배경 하에서, 본 연구는 IPTV 결합서비스의 발전방안을 제시하고자 사례연구와 실증연구를 수행하였다. 사례연구 결과, IPTV 서비스가 시장에서 확산되기 위해서는 결합서비스 형태가 바람직하고, 우수 콘텐츠 확보가 요구된다. 실증연구 결과, IPTV 결합서비스 시장은 고객가치를 기준으로 세분화 될 수 있으며, 세분시장별 효과적 마케팅전략을 제안할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 본 연구는 IPTV 결합서비스 관련 주체별로 발전의 저해요인을 분석하고 활성화 방안을 제시하고 있다.

  • The service industry has become very important for almost every country. The same goes for Korea, as its service industry accounts for more than 60 percent of GDP. However, it is true that the competitiveness of Korea's service industry is very low compared to that of major developed countries. It is particularly true for knowledge-intensive service sectors. In this reason, Korea needs to strengthen the competitiveness of domestic service sectors. There have been many studies on service innovation models. 1his paper tries to explore how to enhance the competitiveness of Korean service industry. It argues that the science and technology will play an essential role in strengthening the competitiveness of many service sectors and technology and innovation management will be very important also for them. Therefore, based on the review on existinf models, this paper suggests a "Model of Strategic Services Innovation Management" which is composed of strategic intent, technological innovation, and organizational innovation. Based on this model this paper analyzes two cases: Wal-Mart and Incheon International Airport Co. According to our analyzes, both companies have enhanced their competitiveness significantly based on technological and organizational innovations, which have been initiated at corporate leveL Therefore, the Korean service industry should actively adopt the Strategic Services Innovation Management Model in order to enhance its competitiveness and productivity.

2007 주목할 10대 기술

  • IT산업은 항상 끊임없는 '혁신'을 통해서만 성장의 자양분을 얻는다. 기술적 또는 개념적 진보가 없다면 IT산업은 당연히 산업으로서의 존재가치가 없다. 그렇다면 2007년, 한국의 IT시장을 주도할 '10대 핵심 IT기술'들은 어떤 것들일까. 국내 통신 및 네트워크, 솔루션 업계가 가장 관심 있게 지켜보는 IT기술등 중 10개를 선별했다. 10대 IT기술에 포함된 것들 중에는 개념적으로는 10년전부터 출현해 알려져 있지만, 그동안 단순히 개념에 머물렀을 뿐 아직 상용화가 안 된 것들도 일부 포함돼 있다. 참신성보다는 실질적인 의미와 중요성에 무게들 둔 때문이다. 2007년에 주목할 만한 10대 IT기술로는 먼저 'IP 멀티미디어 서브시스템(IMS)이 꼽힌다. 유무선을 비롯한 다양한 네트워크를 자연스럽게 연결해주고 여러 서비스들의 다양한 조합이 가능해 고객맞춤형서비스를 가능하게 하는 '멀티미디어 멀티캐스트 컨트롤(MMC)도 10대 IT기술에 포함됐다. 이와 함께 100Mbps 초고속 인터넷 서비스를 가능하게 하는 ETTH (Ethernet To The Home), 차세대 보안이슈인 네트워크접근제어(NAC), 금융회사나 이동통신회사의 상품개발을 신속하게 지원하는 '프로덕트 팩토리', 하드웨어시스템의 최적화를 보장한 가상화 및 ILM, 컴퓨팅산업을 한 단계 이상 진화시킬 쿼드코어 CPU, 소프트웨어 시장의 새로운 패러다임인 SOA(서비스지향아키텍처), 본격적인 시장 확산이 기대되는 전자태그(RFID), IT거버넌스의 열기로 급부상하고 있는 ITAM(IT자산관리) 등도 올해 주목할 10대 IT기술 반열에 올랐다.

A Proposal for a New Industrial Classification System by Service Economy Perspective (서비스경제 관점의 산업분류체계 개선 제안)

  • The Industrial Classification is a systematic taxonomy of industrial activities and the Standard Industrial Classification is used in all country by their own a consistent classification method. Therefore, it is employed to analyze current status of industry affairs using statistical investigations in terms industrial activities for making industrial policies and to compare industrial activity among countries. Since the Second Industrial Revolution, the need for the homogenous standard of industrial classification among countries emerged as the economic and industrial exchanges between the countries have became more active. In 1940, Colin Clark who british economist divided the industry into the first (primitive), second (processed), and third (service) industries. Based on this, the United Nations Office for Statistics (UNSD) established International Standard Industry Classification (ISIC) in 1948, which most countries invoke it. ISIC(International Standard Industry Classification) and the standard industry classifications of countries have reached the present after several revisions since the enactment of the Act. In the 2000s, the standard industry classification is amended to reflect the emergence of new industries and changes in industrial structure, mainly featuring the creation and segmentation of sections in the tertiary industry domains. It also shows that primary and secondary sectors are shifting to tertiary industry. In this study, the causes of these common phenomena are systematically identified and the problems present classification systems have been analyzed. Also proposed is the direction of formation of the industrial classification system from a service economy point of view and the conceptual model of the new classification system. In the future, it is necessary to validate the proposed model through this study and to carry out various new classification system studies.
