기존의 N-ISDN 망과 현재 진행 중인 B-ISDN 망이 공존하는 과정에서 B-ISDN 망을 통하여 연결되는 N-ISDN 망의 기능 및 특성과 서비스 질을 최소한 유지하고, N-ISDN 망의 이용을 극대화하기 위하여 B-ISDN과 N-ISDN의 연동 방안을 제안하였다. 제안된 방안에서는 N-ISDN급의 정보 통신 서비스를 효율적으로 사용할 수 있도록 N-ISDN 망과 B-ISDN 망사이에 적합한 연동망을 구성하며, 구축될 새로운 연동망을 고려한 체계적인 서비스 제공방안으로 B-ISDN과 N-ISDN 사이의 연동에 관한 통신 시나리오, 서비스 연관 및 접속 유형, 그리고 망연동 및 서비스 연동에 대한 시나리오의 개략적인 방안을 제시하였다. 제시된 연동 방안에서는 망 접속 장치를 통하여 N-ISDN의 회선모드 베어러 서비스(Circuit Mode Bearer Service)는 B-ISDN의 서비스 등급 A로, 패킷모드 베어러 서비스(Packet mode bearer Service)와 프레임 모드 베러어 서비스(Frame mode bearer Service)는 B-ISDN의 서비스 등급 C로 각각 수용되어 망연동 및 서비스 연동을 가능하게하여 주기 때문에 서로 다른 정보 전달 능력(information transfer capability)을 가지고 있는 B-ISDN과 N-ISDN의 통신망을 상호 접속시켜주는데 사용될 수 있다.

This paper describes a design and implementation of ISDN system on a chip which provides ISDN service and used to develop a low-price multimedia communication terminal. This ISDN SOC is an ISDN system control chip which has 32bit RISC processor, and it includes ISDN S interface transceiver, G.711 voice CODEC, PC interface for data communication, ISDN protocol which includes Q.931 call control protocol and internet protocol. It provides good solution to develope ISDN terminal equipment and ISDN terminal adaptor which connected with basic rate interface, because it minimize external peripheral devices.

In this papre we implemented the ISDN S-interface Card for a PABX that makes it possible to accommodate ISDN terminals. In order to implement this ISDN cand we first designed entire structure and functions of its hardware and software. And then based on this we implemented server and entity, inter-entity communication, ISDN protocols, and call processing interface for realizing ISDN interface functions. Finally we evaluated the performance of the implemented ISDN card by measuring the response time of call setup and release.

This paper describes a B-ISDN terminal adapter which provides B-ISDN adaptation functions for conventional services such as N-ISDN, video, connectionless data service in the ATM based B-ISDN. These services are provided individually or simultaneously. The B-ISDN terminal adapter offers interfaces of N-ISDN, video codec, Ethernet for supporting conventional services. And it provides various types of services which are available in conventional terminals and networks through B-ISDN. The AAL type 1 is used for N-ISDN and video services, the AAL type 3/4 and 5 are used for LAN service.

Interworking architecture and scenarios are analyzed and proposed for seamless provision of multimedia services across 64 kbit/s-based N-ISDN and ATM-based B-ISDN. First, the functional architecture of multimedia service is analyzed, and the functions of each protocol layer are proposed. The architecture of multimedia services in N-ISDN is studied, and the functions of ATM protocol for multimedia services in B-ISDN are analyzed. We propose the interworking architecture of multimedia services across 64 kbit/s-based N-ISDN and ATM-based B-ISDN.

Recently the tendency of the network system development rapidly progresses toward ISDN that intergrates all presetn-day communication networks and services into a single, universal network set up on the basis of the exisiting telephone network. For this reason many countries pay worldwide attention to the researches about ISDN, especially to the researches about the exchange and the ISDN user-network interface which is one of the most important parts of network system. This paper is the first part of the two-par papers describing the ISDN user-network interface. in this paper, after surveying the architecture of ISDN exchange recommended by CCITT, the general architecture of the ISDN exchage is proposed, Based on this architecture, the switching emulator is implemented, and the necessary conditions of the ISDN exchage(LAPO, CCP etc) are also studied.

B-ISDN(Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network)which is defined as a service or system requiring transmission channels capable of supporting rates above 1.5 Mbps has emerged as a new future telecommunication infrastructure. B-ISDN can integrate a wide range of services and the success of B-ISDN is crucially dependent on the development of user-needing application services. The purpose of this study is the conceptual development of B-ISDN application services. We survey on the kinds of B-ISDN service, classify application areas by user groups, and develop B-ISDN application services. Finally we categorize B-ISDN application services by their application areas and necessary services.

This paper focuses on the necessities of interworking and dervation of the requirements of interworking system for interworking between 64 Kbps based N-ISDN (narrowband ISDN) and B-ISDN(broadband ISDN). Furthermore, the design and the implementation of IWF (interworking function) are presentd. We analyze two ISDN signalling systems, and propose the architecture of interworking system. And then we make the baisc call procedure model between N-ISDN and B-ISDN, and verify the dynamic behaviors through the reachability tree of petri net. IWF is designed and implemented for transforming the differences between the two signalling systems. The operational confirmity of th eimplemented program was confirmed by the local test method. The performance of IWF was evaluated throguh the simulation language SLAM-II. As the result of evaluation shows, we confirm that the processing delay is maintained within 3 ms under the utilization 0.9.

본 논문은 단계적으로 B-ISDN을 구축할 때 단계구분의 기준으로 널리 이용되는 ITU-T의 3단계 B-ISDN 신호(망제어) 능력의 주요 특성과 능력차이를 살펴보고, 이 능력기준에 의거해 구현된 B-ISDN간에 호환성을 고려한 네가지 망진화 방안들을 제안한다. 또한 B-ISDN 구축을 위해 현재 진행 중인 HAN/B-ISDN 연구개발 사업의 체계종합 연구 결과로 제시하는 단계별 B-ISDN 구축방안과 각 단계별 망의 형상과 주요 특징을 소개한다. 그리고, 신호 능력 단계에 따른 망 진화 방안으로서, 1 단계 망으로부터 2 단계 망으로 진화해가는 과정에서 어떻게 기능을 발전시킬 것인가에 대한 고찰을 통해 HAN/B-ISDN 사업에서 추구하는 단계별 망의 진화방안을 제시한다. 아울러 초고속정보통신망 구축을 위해 수반될 B-ISDN과 이종망간 연동을 위한 방안을 살펴보고, B-ISDN과 프레임릴레이망, N-ISDN등의 기존 유선 통신망과의 연동과 위성통신 및 이동 통신망, 그리고 ATM-Forum 규격을 토대로 한 사설 ATM망의 수용 방안을 제시한다.

This paper describes the implementation of a SoC(System-on-a-Chip) and an ISDN communication terminal by the SoC in ISDN network. The SoC has been developed with the functions of 32-bit ARM7TDMI RISC core processor, network connection with S/T interface, TDM--bus interface and voice codec, user interface. And we also review the developed software structure and the ISDN service protocol procedures which are working on the SoC. And finally this paper describers a structure of an ISDN terminal equipment using the implemented SoC and terminal software.
