The purpose of this study is to examine men's role conflicts of dual-earner family based on man's role type. Man's role type is composed of man's sex role attitude and family-role performance and categorized in four types such as traditionalism type neo-traditionalism type equalitarianism type and inconsistancy type. The test analysis can be summarized as follows; First test analysis can be summarized as follows; role performance and man's role conflict as working hours is long wife's role requirement is high family-role conflict as working hours is long wife's role requirement is high family-role is not commit man's role conflict directly affected. In addition indirect affect through family-role performance shows that man's role conflict level is low as level of income is high level of income difference between man and wife is low child is younger and intent to modern sex-role attitude. Second looking into the difference role conflict to man's role type it shows that equalita ianism type's role conflict is low and man's role conflict in traditionalism and neo-traditonalism types is high.
Purpose: Currently, the morale of Quality People and Quality Department in Korea is low, so it is not doing enough work. This is one of the reasons why there is no theoretical support for the role of Role of Quality People and Quality Department. The purpose of this study is to examine grandparents' role to their grandchildren, the role type, and the variables that influence the role. For this purpose, data were collected from 542 grandparents through questionnaire. The main findings are as follows: 1. The most frequent role activity that grandparents perform include 'advising their grandchildren to be successful,' 'encouraging them to study hard,' 'having them help housework,' and 'teaching them how to behave', whereas the least one is 'to teach things such as cooking, paduk, and chess.' 2. Supporting role, educating role and raising role are three types of grandparents' role activity to their grandchildren. 3. One of the significant variables affecting their role level is living arrangement of grandparents. In addition, age, economic level, and educational level are partially effective variables in grandparents' role, along with whether they work or not, how often they meet their grandchildren, and how old their grandchildren are. However, it is not among significant variables whether they are healthy, or whether they are paternal or maternal.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data needed to examine the relationship between father and son by investigating correlations among male college students' perceptions of the degree of closeness to their fathers their fathers' paternal role and their own paternal role in the future. The subjects of this study were 474 male college students(sophomores juniors and seniors) from Seoul and Daegu. The questionaire the means of this research is composed of classified questions on related studies and on the researches of reference literatures, Statistical methods applied for data analysis were frequencies mean standard deviation Pearson's correlation. Major findings are as follows; 1) When a son perceives that he is on intimate terms with his father he perceives that his father performs paternal role well. Intimate relation between the father and the son can be considered essential to good performance of paternal role. 2)When a son perceives that he is on intimate terms w th his father he believes that he will perform his own paternal role will in the future. That is the son seems to accept his future paternal role positively as he feels close to his father. 3) Male college students who perceive their fathers' paternal role is properly performed tend to believe they will perform their own paternal role well in the future. Judging from the relation between fathers' performance of paternal role and sons' perception of thir future paternal role we can say good performance of paternal role is important is building up sons' affirmative perception of paternal role.
This study is designed to find out the role performance problems, especially concerning the difference between the employed wives and housewives. The data were obtained from the questionnaire with 25 items collected form 541 wives-266 employed wives and 275 housewives. The t-test and F-test were applied and the results are as follows: 1. There is no significant difference in their role perception between the employed wives and the housewives. respondents think mother role is the most important and social role the least. 2. Employed wives' self evaluation of role performance level is significantly lower than housewives'. Generally, self evaluation level is very low on every role area, especially mother role. 3. Role performance fulfillment level of employe wives is significantly lower than that of housewives. All the areas of their role are less fulfilled, especially employed wives' mother role.
Purpose - Although ensuring that all the organizational members know their roles exactly is an important part of managerial work, few studies address the role clarity in food manufacturing and distribution firms. Role clarity refers to the extent to which individuals clearly understand the tasks, duties, responsibilities, and expectations of their work roles (Hinkin & Schriesheim, 2008). The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the role clarity on organizational commitment and the mediating role of creativity in the role clarity-organizational commitment relationship. Research design, data, and methodology - Data were collected from 297 employees in food manufacturing and distribution firms of Korea by self-evaluations questionnaires. The unit of the analysis for testing is an individual. We proposed four hypotheses: (1) is about the relationship between role clarity and organizational commitment, (2) is about the relationship between role clarity and creativity, (3) is about the relationship between creativity and organizational commitment, and (4) is about the mediating role of creativity. We conducted the hierarchical regression analysis for testing the main and mediating effects. Results - The results of the study indicated that the role clarity was positively associated with organizational commitment and creativity. Results also indicated that the creativity was positively associated with organizational commitment. Especially, the impact of the role clarity on organizational commitment was mediated by creativity. Conclusions - An important contribution of this study is extending prior theory on the relationship between role clarity and organizational commitment by shedding new light on assumptions regarding the mediating effect of creativity. The results demonstrate that the role clarity has an indirect effect as well as a direct effects on organizational commitment. Our research suggests important implications for organizations that pursue to stimulate their employees' creativity, emphasizing the importance of the role clarity. This study has several potential limitations. Maybe the most serious limitation is its cross-sectional study design. Another limitation is the use of employees' self-reports to measure the variables. In the future, researchers should employ a longitudinal study design and use diverse sources of data.
The purpose of this study is to systematize the theory of the father-child relationship by analyzing the father's role and father-child interaction. The results of this study are as followings: (1) The oedipal period 3 to 5 years is a critical in development of the father-child relationship. Father absence is assumed in infancy but it is denying because the father participates in Child- rearing activity. (2) The Father's role is symbolized instrumental role traditionally and culturally but it is appropriate that we think the father's role to be androgynous concepts. Instrumental role as well as expressive role is expected to father's role. (3) The role of the father is supplementary mother's role. The father provides economic, emotional support and helps the balanced child- rearing. This indirect role of the father is very important. (4) The father influences child development, and his role is to be sex-role model to contrieve personality internalize moral development. But it is needed more empirical study to clarify father's effects on child development. (5) The amount of time that fathers spend with their children is less than mothers, but it is not assumed that difference of this amount of time do not differently influence to the children. (6) There are much similarity that difference between father-child interaction and mother- child interaction. Qualitative difference in interaction is response style. A responsive style of the father is physical intellectual instructive but mother's is verbal. (7) The effects of the father to a child must be analyzed on dyadic dimension and triadic dimension of family network. In triadic dimension, father influences mother- child relationship, mother to response sensitively, husband-wife relation.
This study explores the perspective of mothers who have children at teens concerning grandparents' role and grandchildren's role, especially focusing on the similarity and difference according to lineage. The analysis indicates as below. 1. Mothers highly expect the roles of grandparents which are related to the developing of self-identity of grandchildren at teens. There is much similarity between mothers; view on paternal grandparents' role and maternal grandparents' role. However the results support that paternal grandparents' role is more central than maternal grandparents in influencing to the development of self identity of grandchildren. 2. All responses of questionnaire item are categories into 4 aspects; health education, environmental sanitation qualification of school health nurses and social aspect of school. Differences on role perception of school health nurses and role expectation of teachers is revealed-non-significant by .05〈P〈.10 level. while between students is shown significant difference by P〈.005 level, in health education role of school hearth nurses. 2. The environmental sanitation category of school health nurses role: non-significant difference is revealed between teachers and school health nurses by. 05〈P〈.10 level, and significant difference-is revealed by P〈.05 level. 3. Personal creativity is critically important for organizations seeking to survive and thrive in today's highly turbulent business environments. Organizations must effectively identify and mobilize the creative resources of their members. When organizational members perceive a work environment that restricts or fails to encourage individual creative expression, a gap may exist between the level of individual creative potential and the actual amount of individual creativity practiced within the organization. In this situation, this paper will examine the impact of role conflict, role ambiguity, creative self-efficacy, and personal initiative on personal creativity. Creative self-efficacy is the subjective belief in one's personal ability to be creative, that is, a personal assessment of one's own creative potential. A strong internal belief in one's ability to successfully engage in creative behaviors is generally considered an important part of the creative process. Personal Initiative refers to behaviors, mainly directed toward work and organizational issues, that are characterized by the following aspects: self-starting, proactive, and persistent in overcoming barriers. Creativity-related creative self-efficacy and personal initiative are critical components to understand motivation that coordinates the relationship between perception and behavior of individual employees. Based on role theory, researchers have focused on role conflict and role ambiguity as the two key ingredients of role stress. Role ambiguity is defined as an evaluation about the lack of salient information needed to perform a role effectively. Role conflict results from two or more sets of incompatible demands involving work-related issues. Employees are usually pursued work-roles more than one in work-focused organization. Too many work-roles and perceived uncertainties at employee's work can be obstacles to personal creativity. In an analysis of results, while role conflict is not negatively related significantly to creative self-efficacy, role ambiguity is negatively related significantly to creative self-efficacy. While role conflict is significantly related to personal creativity, role ambiguity is negatively related significantly to personal creativity. Creative self-efficacy mediates the relationship among role conflict, role ambiguity, and employee creativity. Personal initiative mediates the relationship between creative self-efficacy and employee creativity. This paper shows that creative self-efficacy and personal initiative are the driving force behind personal creativity. Organizations can get some implications of creative-related role conflict and role ambiguity that employees have experienced. As a result, organizations must not only encourage creativity of employees by greater involvement but also encourage their input towards their-focused own works and tasks. And employees should be developed to pace with the organizational needs and development. Management must enable employees to think of new ideas and practices that promotes personal creativity.
