해수담수화플랜트에서 가스 하이드레이트 공정 도입을 통한 역삼투 공정의 에너지 절감 효과 (Effect of gas hydrate process on energy saving for reverse osmosis process in seawater desalination plant)

  • Gas hydrate (GH) process is a new desalination technology, where GH is a non- stoichiometric crystalline inclusion compounds formed by water and a number of gas molecules. Seawater GH is produced in a low temperature and a high pressure condition and they are separated from the concentrated seawater. The drawback of the GH process so far is that salt contents contained in its product does not meet the fresh water quality standard. This means that the GH process is not a standalone process for seawater desalination and it needs the help of other desalting process like reverse osmosis (RO). The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of GH process on energy saving for RO process in seawater desalination. The GH product water quality data, which were obtained from a literature, were used as input data for RO process simulation. The simulation results show that the energy saving effect by the GH process is in a range of 68 % to 81 %, which increases as the salt removal efficiency of the GH process increases. Boron (B) and total dissolved solids (TDS) concentrations of the final product of the hybrid process of GH and RO were also investigated through the RO process simulation to find relavant salt rejection efficiency of the GH process. In conclusion, the salt rejection efficiency of the GH process should exceed at least 78% in order to meet the product water quality standards and to increase the energy saving effect.

  • In order to provide a manufacturing system with efficiency and flexibility to cope with the changes in shop floor status, the integration of process planning and operations scheduling is required. In this paper, an integrated system of process planning and operations scheduling based on the concept of process net model and genetic algorithm is suggested. The process net model includes the alternative process plans. The integrated system is applied for prismatic parts.

  • It is very important to rationally allocate manufacturing processes because customer's needs are being various, and product life cycle in the market Is being shortened. The process allocation is needed before making process control plan and is mostly being done by the field experience or intuition of machine operator, process engineer and/or maintenance technician. Therefore, a modified allocation method using the process variation is proposed. This paper presents the result of comparative studies between current method and the proposed one.

미니밀 공정의 회귀식 모델링에 의한 제품품질향상에 관한 연구 (A Study on Product Quality Improvement by Regression Modeling of Mini-Mill Process)

  • Mini-Mill process has been recently in operation at Pohang steel company, which enables more flexible steel coil production on customer demands. The effects of process parameters in Mini-Mill process need to be analyzed not only to make the process stable but also to improve product quality. This work aims to develop a regression model of Mini-Mill process using accumulated product data such that the process parameter effects on product tensile strength may be analyzed. The analysis shows that tensile strength is influenced mainly by the amount of components such as carbon, manganese, silicon, and sulfur. The effect of temperature is shown to be small. It is concluded that control of the components is much more responsible for both meeting the target and reducing the variation of the product tensile strength. Heat treatment is more useful in compensating tensile strength variations due to thickness differences and improving workability and other quality characteristics. More work is necessary for establishing regression expressions of the process that is reliable and accurate enough to dispense with the off-line inspection of the product tensile strength.

  • Recently, LCD Backlight Unit is being replaced from cold cathode fluorescent lamp(CCFL) to external electrode fluorescent lamp(EEFL) because the EEFL has high energy efficiency and long life. Also, it can reduce energy consumption and weight. So far, external electrode ring for EEFL is produced by sheet metal press forming process. Therefore it had low precision and much material loss. To solve these problems, Multi-Forming process that has five step forming process was invented. However, low productivity is another barrier. Product speed that is controlled by the rotational speed cannot be increased due to the unsatisfied design specification. The reason is that the gap between rolled two edge parts of the sheet plate is tightly inspected. Regarding this factor, the understanding of forming behavior to each process is inevitable. This paper describes the CAE analysis of the multi-forming process by PAM-STAMP.

  • Manufacturing process mining performs various data analyzes of performance on event logs that record production. That is, it analyzes the event log data accumulated in the information system and extracts useful information necessary for business execution. Process data analysis by process mining analyzes actual data extracted from manufacturing execution systems (MES) to enable accurate manufacturing process analysis. In order to continuously manage and improve manufacturing and manufacturing processes, there is a need to structure, monitor and analyze the processes, but there is a lack of suitable technology to use. The purpose of this research is to propose a manufacturing process analysis method using process mining and to establish a manufacturing process mining system by analyzing empirical data. In this research, the manufacturing process was analyzed by process mining technology using transaction data extracted from MES. A relationship model of the manufacturing process and equipment was derived, and various performance analyzes were performed on the derived process model from the viewpoint of work, equipment, and time. The results of this analysis are highly effective in shortening process lead times (bottleneck analysis, time analysis), improving productivity (throughput analysis), and reducing costs (equipment analysis).

The Simulation and Control of the Reactive Distillation Process for Dimethylcarbonate(DMC) Production

  • Reactive distillation (RD) is a combination process where both separation and reaction are considered simultaneously in a single vessel. This kind of combination to enhance the overall performance is not a new attempt in the chemical engineering areas. The recovery of ammonia in the classic Solvay process for soda ash of the 1860s may be cited as probably the first commercial application of RD. The RD system has been used for a long time as a useful process and recently the importance of the RD is enlarged more and more. In addition to that, the application fields of RD are diversely diverged. To make the most of the characteristic of RD system, we must decide the best operating condition under which the process shows the most effective productivity and should decide the best control algorithm which satisfies an optimal operating condition. Phosgene which is a highly reactive chemical is used for the production of isocyanates and polycarbonates. Because it has high reactivity and toxicity, its utilization is increasingly burdened by growing safety measures to be adopted during its production. Dimethyl Carbonate (DMC) was proposed as a substitute of phosgene because it is non-toxic and environmentally benign chemical. In this study, RD is used for DMC production process and the transesterification is performed inside of column to produce DMC. In transesterification, the methanol and ethylene carbonate (EC) are used as the reactants. This process use homogeneous catalyst and the azeotrope exists between the reactant and product. Owing to azeotrope, we should use two distillation columns. For this DMC production process, we can suggest two configurations. One is EC excess process and the other is methanol excess process. From the comparison of steady state simulation results where the Naphtali-Sandholm algorithm is used, it showed the better performance to use the methanol excess process configuration than EC excess process. Then, the dynamic simulation was performed to be based on the steady state simulation results and the optimal control system was designed. In addition to that, the optimal operating condition was suggested from previous results.

확률적 프로세스 트리 생성을 위한 타부 검색 -유전자 프로세스 마이닝 알고리즘 (Tabu Search-Genetic Process Mining Algorithm for Discovering Stochastic Process Tree)

  • Process mining is an analytical technique aimed at obtaining useful information about a process by extracting a process model from events log. However, most existing process models are deterministic because they do not include stochastic elements such as the occurrence probabilities or execution times of activities. Therefore, available information is limited, resulting in the limitations on analyzing and understanding the process. Furthermore, it is also important to develop an efficient methodology to discover the process model. Although genetic process mining algorithm is one of the methods that can handle data with noises, it has a limitation of large computation time when it is applied to data with large capacity. To resolve these issues, in this paper, we define a stochastic process tree and propose a tabu search-genetic process mining (TS-GPM) algorithm for a stochastic process tree. Specifically, we define a two-dimensional array as a chromosome to represent a stochastic process tree, fitness function, a procedure for generating stochastic process tree and a model trace as a string of activities generated from the process tree. Furthermore, by storing and comparing model traces with low fitness values in the tabu list, we can prevent duplicated searches for process trees with low fitness value being performed. In order to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, we performed a numerical experiment by using two kinds of event log data used in the previous research. The results showed that the suggested TS-GPM algorithm outperformed the GPM algorithm in terms of fitness and computation time.

사례기반추론을 이용한 사출금형 공정계획시스템 (Intelligent Injection Mold Process Planning System Using Case-Based Reasoning)

  • 사출금형 공정계획이란 금형설계를 완료한 후에 설계된 금형을 경제적, 효율적으로 생산하기 위하여 수행하는 제조공정에 대한 계획이다. 이러한 공정계획은 전문가의 수작업에 의한 수립에 의한 문제, 전문가의 양성과 부족현상, CAD/CAM 시스템 보급 및 생산형태의 다품종소량화 현상에 의해 자동화가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 사례기반추론(Case-Based Reasoning)을 이용하여 IIMPPS(Intelligent Injection Mold Process Planning System)라는 사출금형 공정계획시스템을 개발하였다. 사출금형 공정계획을 자동화하기 위해서 사례기반 추론을 사용한 이유는 사출금형이라는 제품은 금형의 종류와 구조 등에 따라 공정계획이 매우 다양하게 수립되지만, 성형품의 용도나 품명이 같은 경우에는 공정이 거의 유사하여, 과거에 수립된 공정계획이 새로운 금형의 공정 계획에 매우 유용하게 사용될 수 있기 때문이다. 그리고 본 연구에서는 IIMPPS의 타당성을 평가하기 위하여 전문가의 정성적인 평가와 공정계획의 정확도 평가를 수행하였다.

역정규 손실함수를 이용한 기대손실 능력지수의 개발 (Development of Expected Loss Capability Index Using Reflected Normal Loss Function)

  • Process quality control, which prevents problems and risks that may occur in products and processes, has been recognized as an important issue, and SPC techniques have been used for this purpose. Process Capability Index (PCI) is useful Statistical Process Control (SPC) tool that is measure of process diagnostic and assessment tools widely use in industrial field. It has advantage of easy to calculate and easy to use in the field. $C_p$ and $C_{pk}$ are traditional PCIs. These traditional $C_p$ and $C_{pk}$ were used only as a measure of process capability, taking into account the quality variance or the bias of the process mean. These are not given information about the characteristic value does not match the target value of the process and this has the disadvantage that it is difficult to assess the economic losses that may arise in the enterprise. Studies of this process capability index by many scholars actively for supplement of its disadvantage. These studies to evaluate the capability of situation of various field has presented a new process capability index. $C_{pm}$ is considers both the process variation and the process deviation from target value. And $C_{pm}{^+}$ is considers economic loss for the process deviation from target value. In this paper we developed an improved Expected Loss Capability Index using Reflected Normal Loss Function of Spring. This has the advantage that it is easy to realistically reflect the loss when the specification is asymmetric around the target value. And check the correlation between existing traditional process capability index ($C_{pk}$) and new one. Finally, we propose the criteria for classification about developed process capability index.
