  • The warehousing of inventories is an enormous expense to industries worldwide, and yet there are few available that can be used to design rack storage systems while considering overall system costs. The primary objective of this paper is the development of an overall ware hous storage system costs model to aid a warehous planner in the design of automated warehouse systems. A simulation model and statistical estimation procedures are used to determine the maximum inventory levels accumulated in the receiving, storage, and shipping areas. The overall cost model is developed to determine the required total land, the initial investment fund, the number of pieces of handling equipment, and the storage rack configuration for the main storage area. A numerical example is then presented to demonstrate the application of the overall system cost model developed in this paper.

  • The self-reliance of NSSS System Design is required not only the design capability to perform the system design but also the management capability to control the resource and time for the Project effectively. The purpose of this study is to develop the simplified standard Logic Network that is scheduled on the time and resource using the PERT/CPM method. That is mainly focused on Ulchin 3&4 Project. We prepare the management tool of NSSS System Design project. And we can utilize it as a reference tool for the similar project which are complex and long term in a next project.

  • Despite the recent phenomenal growth in computer installations in business and increasing interests in Management Information Systems in Korea, there are basic questions remained: how are the computers utilized, what is the current state of MIS, and what are the strategies which will enhance the current state of MIS in Korea? The purpose of this paper is to answer these questions. To begin, the current state of MIS is investigated from the aspects of MIS budget, manpower, hardware, and various softwares based on the survey of 30 major industries. The results show that the overall MIS in Korea is still remained in the primitive stage despite its ultra modern computer hardwares. The obstacles that hinders the MIS evolution in Korea seems intractable for quite a long period of time. Some strategies are suggested which can partially remove two big obstacles-shortage in qualified manpower and lack of softwares that fit Korean industries.

  • Online game business has emerged as the most lucrative entertainment industry, with over 10 million players in South Korea. The popularity of online games can be attributed to the availability of broadband network and the presence of numerous PC Bangs and around the country, which have pushed online games into the mainstream entertainment culture. The age distribution of online game players is expanding and a variety of new games are under development to target certain age groups. While the interactive entertainment market continues to expand, with many new online game publishers entering the market, relatively little is known about which factors influence online game players' behavioral intentions to play continuously in this area. It appears that in this extremely attractive and growing services segment, academics, as well as practitioners, would benefit from investigating the relationships among the players' loyalty, interactivity, the sense of presence and the impacts of several other key game-related constructs. Several types of interaction in on-line games and their relationship with the flow construct are investigated, and the resulting conceptual model is proposed. Based on data collected from online questionnaire survey, the validity of the simultaneous equation model has been tested and interesting conclusions have been developed concerning the relationships between the players' loyalty to the sense of presence flow, satisfaction and interactions. Other interesting results concerning game development strategy are also provided.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a Cross Impact System Alternatives Tree(CISAT) model necessary for selecting the interdependent R&D planning system alternatives. This model modifies System Alternatives Tree(SAT) model developed by Kwon et al.. The SAT model is composed of several functions necessary for the achievement of a final goal and several subsystems for satisfying each function. In case that the relationship of technology alternatives is interdependent, this model overlooked a relative importance derived from occurrence or nonoccurrence of the technology alternatives in the future time varience. However, a complex evaluation process within the ballot system is another disadvantage of the SAT. To solve such problems, the Cross Impact Analysis(CIA) model is applied in the SAT model so as to consider the cross impact among interdependent system alternatives.

  • Quality function deployment (QFD) is a useful tool for ensuring quality throughout each stage of the product development and production process. Since the focus of QFD is placed on the early stage, the uncertainty in the input information of QFD is inevitable. If the uncertainty is neglected, the QFD analysis results are likely to be misleading. This paper classifies the sources of uncertainty in QFD, and proposes a new approach to model and analyze the effects of uncertainty in QFD.

  • Models from different perspectives including functinal view, behavioural view and information view are necessary to implement complex systems such as CIM. It is difficult to integrate those models into a unified framework since they describe different aspects of the system for different purposes. However, modeling from different perspectives is often the case, and many workers are involved in developing a system. Thus, the transformation or interconnection mechanism is required to cope with the consistency problem between them and to save the efforts during development. In this study, a methodology to thansform the IDEFO model into a process flow model is proposed.

  • The objective of this paper is to develop a new priority setting algorithm that considers the cross-impact of the future technology alternatives and that satisfies the final goal of the technology management through multi-hierarchy evaluation criteria. By combining the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) model, which is a well-known priority setting model, and Cross Impact Analysis (CIA) model, which is a technological forecasting method that considers cross-impact among R&D Items, we developed an Integrated Cross-Impact Hierarchical (CIH) model, which sets the priority by considering technological forecasting and technology dependency simultaneously. A step-by-step numerical example of the model developed here is presented as backup of its practicality.

  • Managers have come to realized that a large and increasing amount of sources for a corporate competitive advantage can be found in their company's supply chain. At a fundamental level, there is a similar consensus that building a collaborative supply management is a more effective way of managing firms' supply chains. This paper is an attempt to examine the effects of collaborative supply management by probing a mechanism which shows how competences and/or performance are transferred from suppliers to markets through the supply chains. Research hypotheses regarding the relationships between collaborative supply management, supplier Performance, buyer internal performance (new product development and operational performance), and buyer market performance were empirically validated by utilizing a structural equation modeling analysis. The research result Indicates the positive impacts of a collaborative supply chain on supply performance as well as buyer internal and market performance, which also well illustrate how the improved competence and/or performance of suppliers engendered from the supplier-buyer collaboration flows throughout the entire supply chain.

  • This study discusses the prior researches on concepts regarding the analysis of IT investment effect in an organization as proposed from academic and professional perspectives. In addition, we looked at the possible issues that fan arise from implementation stage based on the example of development of IT investment management process at Company A. This study makes contribution in examining the potential issues and their relevant solutions when implementing the management process/system of If investment based on the case of Company A. At Company A, there is much knowledge that Is being adopted directly from suggested principles of the academic and professional fields as employee needs and requirements are met in advance. But, there is customized knowledge as well in order to best describe the specific situation. We partly try to distinguish the concepts and realities by understanding the core issues involving the IT investment management process/system and make practical suggestions for the companies that plan to implement the efficient IT investment management process/system in the future.
