A Process Quality Information System (PQIS) for the CIM environment is presented. The system includes three subsystems which are qualify control, statistical analysis, and information management. As part of CIM, the PQIS was designed by using the ICAM Definition(IDEF) methodology. The Oracle-CDE was utilized as a graphic development tool which made the system more user friendly. PQIS operates on IBM or compatible PCs under MS-Windows and Oracle DBMS. The methodology developed in this research provides a foundation for the application of CIM subsystems.

The design development, and production of a product is one of the greatest challenges which flexible manufacturing systems face today. No matter how a company refines and controls the manufacturing process, if the product is not properly designed, it will not operate correctly or performed well. Therefore the focus on quality of design must be balanced. One such strategy certain to address the managerial and manufacturing of the future is concurrent engineering. Concurrent engineering calls for the consideration and inclusion of product design attributes satisfying all the design constraints such as customer requirements. Furthermore, concurrent engineering has been recently promoted in many industries as a response to competitive marketing pressures. Viewed as a systematic approach of creating high quality products and bringing them to market at lower cost and in significantly less time, it also attracts the attention of quality designers. In this paperm a methodology and model for optimizing the product design, especially selection of optimal design alternative, is developed. The focus of this paper is on product design as the most critical activity of concurrent engineering. The model is based on the customer requirements for quality. Customer requirements for a certain product can be grouped based on the various design attributes. The design attributes have the priorities. The number of design functions. Design attributes value are calculated, however these values are applied to the optimization method. Numerical example will be illustrated.

Recently, high-rise building projects have been in the spotlight in South Korea. Curtain wall construction, as one of important operations in the high-rise building projects is composed of various, entangled and complex unit processes that require a systematic planning to prevent unexpected delays. A schedule simulation technique has been used for deriving more efficient planning and accurate performance measurement. However, the simulation technique has difficulty in collecting actual data and in applying data fluctuations during construction. Thus, this paper suggests a concept model of Modular Simulation Model(MSM) that overcomes such limitations of traditional simulation technique based on curtain wall operations.
This paper shows the case study of risk analysis in an weapon system research and development project. For risk analysis, an advanced stochastic networking technique-VERT (Venture Evaluation and Review Technique) is used. Assumptions for activities of network diagram and conversion methods from PERT ( Program Evaluation and Review Technique) to VERT are discussed. Also, simulation result is presented and discussed.

DoD makes efforts to develop Capability-Based Force Structure through NCW and requirements. MND makes efforts to develop capability based force development and management for dynamic security environment and wartime command and control, however it seems to be very difficult to develop Capability-Based Force Structure without the concept and development method of integrated capability. The purpose of this paper is to make "An Integrated Capability Framework of Capability Based Force Structure" which presents integral capability of Enterprise. This framework contains the concept of force operation and force development view based on defense force life cycle.

This Study proposes that a SoS(System of Systems) Conceptual Design Model which is developed for the SoS establishment, requirement and decision, utilizing SoS engineering and architecture methodology, and the Model performed with the Process Transition Map using subject matter expert survey. Establishing an Integrated Battle Experimentation System(IBES) for the future force development, the process product of IBES was conceptually designed using a SoS Conceptual Design Model.

Information systems development entails planning, analysis, design and construction phases. The analysis phase identifying user requirements is the most important of these phases. Since unidentified defects in the early phase causes increased work and costs as development proceeds, the quality of analysis results affects the quality of the resultant system. Major tasks in the analysis phase are data modeling and process modeling. Research on building a knowledge-based system for data modeling have been conducted much, however, not sufficiently for process modeling. As a system environment with high user interaction increases, research on process modeling methods and knowledge- based systems considering such environment are required. In this research, a process modeling framework for information systems with high user interaction is suggested and a knowledge-based system for supporting the suggested framework is implemented. A proposed model consists of the following tasks: event analysis, process analysis, and event/process interaction analysis. Event analysis identifies business events and their responses. Process analysis break down the processes of an enterprise into progressively increasing details. Decomposition begins at the function level and ends when the elementary process level is reached. Event/process interaction analysis verifies the results of process analysis and event analysis. A knowledge-based system for supporting a proposed process modeling framework is implemented in a web-based environment.

An effectively designed budget system in the poor resources environment necessarily has three design criteria : (i) to be both planning-oriented and control-oriented, (ii) to be both rationalistic and realistic, (iii) to be sensitive to the variations of resources environment. PPB system is an extreme (planning-oriented and rationalistic) and conventional OEB/OUB system is the other extreme (control-oriented and incrementalistic). Generally, the merits of rationalism are limited because of the infeasibility of applications. Hence, mixtures of the two extremes such as MBO, ZBB, and RZBB have been examined and applied during the last decade. The classical mathematical models of capital budgeting are the starting points of the development of the Budget-Mix Model introduced in this paper. They are modified by the followings: (i) technological-resource constraints, (ii) bounded-variable constraint, (iii) the exchange rules. Special emphasis is laid on the above (iii), because we need more efficient interresource exchanges in the budget-mix process. The Budget-Mix Model is not based on optimization, but a heuristic approach which assures a satisficing solution. And the application fields of this model range between the incremental Nonzero-Base Budgeting and the rational Zero-Base Budgeting. In this thesis, the author suggests 'the budget- mix concept' and a budget-mix model. Budget-mix is a decision process of making program-mix and resource-mix together. For keeping this concept in the existing organization realistic, we need the development of quantitative models describing budget-mix situations.

The conventional inventory models are concerned with the items of which utilities and amount of numbers are constant over time. But in practice the items in inventory systems are increasing or decreasing. This study is concerned with the development of ameliorating inventory models. The ameliorating inventory is the inventory of goods whose utility increases over the time by ameliorating activation. The term ameliorating inventory is used in this paper at least, since the terminology is not standard well known. This study is performed according to areas; one is an economic order quantity(EOQ) model for the items whose utility is ameliorating in accordance with Weibull distribution, and the other is a partial selling quantity(PSQ) model developed for selling surplus inventory accumulated by ameliorating activation. Computer programs are developed to obtain the optimal ordering and selling quantity. Numerical examples to illustrate the effect of ameliorating rate on inventory polices are shown at the end of this paper.

Proposed in this paper is a standard-compliant business process modeling tool which is based on the UML(Unified Modeling Language) activity diagram and produces an XPDL(XML Process Definition Language) file as an output. The XPDL is a standard process definition exchange format by WfMC(Workflow Management Coalition). To develop an UML/XPDL-based modeling tool, the mapping of modeling elements between activity diagram and XPDL format is conducted after the detailed analysis of each modeling specification. As a result of this mapping, it is revealed that modeling elements of each activity diagram and XPDL must be expanded. So new modeling elements are identified and added to each specification. Based on this mapping, the prototype system is developed, and the usefulness of the developed system is shown through the case study.
