Real Time On-line Quality Assurance System for HDR Brachytherapy (고선량률 근접 방사선 치료를 위한 실시간 온-라인 정도 관리(QA) 시스템 개발)

  • An essential quality assurance (QA) procedure in high dose rate (HDR) remote after-loading brachytherapy is that of the verification of the Ir-192 HDR source positioning accuracy. A number of methods using mechanical rulers or autoradiograph and video cameras have been reported to check the positional error of the Ir-192 source. In this study, the feasibility of a CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) PC camera, with a fluorescent screen, was investigated. The agreement between the planned and measured dwell position was better than 1 mm and dwell times better than 0.4 sec. Our results indicate that the CMOS PC camera system could be used as a QA tool for the on-line determination of the source position and dwell time.

  • The KASINICS (KASI Nea.-Infrared Camera System) is a ground-based instrument developed by the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI). We developed a temperature and vacuum monitoring system for operating the KASINICS. The system consists of hardware and software parts. The acquired data we saved on a hard disk in a real-time mode. This system on also be applied to general cryogenic instruments. We tested our monitoring system for the cooling and vacuum performance of the KASINICS. The results show that our system is efficient and stable for the operation of the KASINICS.

  • An experimental study was performed for the combustion-field visualization of the burner which burns the liquid hydrocarbon fuel atomized by an ultrasonic oscillator. Configurations of the flame and combustion-field were caught by both high-speed camera and thermo-graphic camera, and those images were analyzed in detail through a post-processing. As a result, the combustion-field grew and reaction-temperature rose due to the strengthening of combustion reaction with the increasing flow-rate of carrier-gas. In addition, a phenomenon of flame flickering was discussed through the comparative analysis of the variational behaviors between the visible flame and IR (Infrared) flame-field.

  • Power management is a very important issue in portable electronic applications. Portable electronic devices require very efficient power management like LDO to increase the battery life. As the voltage variation of battery power is large in the application of cell phone, camera, laptop, automotive, industry application and so on, battery power is not directly used and LDO is used to supply the power of internal circuit. Besides, LDO can supply DC voltage that is lower than bauer voltage and constant DC voltage that is not related to largely fluctuated battery power. In the study, the power-save mode current and IR-drop characteristics are analyzed from a LDO with on-chip fabricated in 0.18-um CMOS technology.

  • In the industry, the automation of brazing system is very important using the vision senor and the edge detection of the bronze pipe. And also, the accurate coordination is needed for the finding of the precise location. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for the measurement of 3D information of the brazing material and the detection algorithm of soldering area using the camera and IR sensor. We use Canny edge detector in noisy environments. The experimental study shows that camera and IR sensor is useful for the measurement of distance in the brazing work.

  • In this paper, the characteristic of temperature variation was reviewed according to pattern variation. In order to degrade of diagnosis of power supply by using time series data for temperature measured by infrared camera it was transformed into 2 dimension phase plane using Takens embedding method. As a simulation results we cannot completely confirm the characteristic behaviors of nonlinear dynamics in phase plane. However these results has a certain patterns, it requires verification method through additional research in the future.

  • In this paper, a vision-based relative navigation system is addressed for autonomous aerial refueling. In the air-to-air refueling, it is assumed that the tanker has the drogue, and the receiver has the probe. To obtain the relative information from the drogue, a vision-based imaging technology by infra-red camera is applied. In this process, the relative information is obtained by using Gaussian Least Squares Differential Correction (GLSDC), and Levenberg-Marquadt(LM), where the drouge geometric information calculated through image processing is used. These two approaches proposed in this paper are analyzed through numerical simulations.

  • To make a robust object tracking and identifying system for an intelligent robot and/or home system, heterogeneous sensor fusion between visible ray system and infrared ray system is proposed. The proposed system separates the object by combining the ROI (Region of Interest) estimated from two different images based on a heterogeneous sensor that consolidates the ordinary CCD camera and the IR (Infrared) camera. Human's body and face are detected in both images by using different algorithms, such as histogram, optical-flow, skin-color model and Haar model. Also the pose of human body is estimated from the result of body detection in IR image by using PCA algorithm along with AdaBoost algorithm. Then, the results from each detection algorithm are fused to extract the best detection result. To verify the heterogeneous sensor fusion system, few experiments were done in various environments. From the experimental results, the system seems to have good tracking and identification performance regardless of the environmental changes. The application area of the proposed system is not limited to robot or home system but the surveillance system and military system.
