This study takes a holistic approach to understand the diffusion of IPTV services by combining the adoption-diffusion model and the use-diffusion model of innovation. IPTV service, a leading digital converged application coupling media content with telecommunications, has been recently launched commercially in Korea. We created a structural model of adoption-diffusion, using the perceived easeof-use and usefulness of TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) as mediating variables, and a structural model of use-diffusion, with the rate of use and the variety of use as mediating variables. To empirically analyze these models, non-users of IPTV were surveyed using the adoption-diffusion model to identify factors influencing their intention to subscribe to the service. Meanwhile, users of IPTV were surveyed using the use-diffusion model to determine the factors that influence their satisfaction with the service and their intention to re-use it. Under the adoption-diffusion model, we found that trialability, household innovativeness and perceived risk were the determinants of user satisfaction with IPTV, and perceived ease-of-use, the mediating factors. Under the use-diffusion model, complementarity and communication were shown to be the determinants of users' satisfaction with IPTV, and variety of use, the mediating factor. We also found that consumers' intention to re-use IPTV was strongly influenced by its relative advantage and perceived risk.

최근 멀티미디어 콘텐츠가 빠르게 확산되고, 초고속 광대역 IP 네트워크 기술이 발전하면서 통신과 방송의 독자적 개별 서비스가 서로 공존하여 통합융합 서비스로 진화발전하고 있다. 대표적 방송/통신 융합 서비스인 IPTV는 통합융합서비스의 가장 강력한 응용분야이며, IPTV와 같은 서비스들이 증가함으로 인해 다양한 인터넷 서비스를 구현하기 위해서 인터넷 프로토콜을 통한 고화질의 데이터 처리에 대한관심이 통신업계의 화두로 등장하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 소규모에서 사용되는 표준 라우팅 프로토콜인, RIP 환경과 대규모 자율 네트워크에서 사용되는 링크 상태 라우팅 프로토콜인, OSPF 환경을 구현하여 IPTV 서비스 중에서 방송 화질의 PSNR값으로 성능을 측정하고 평가하여 효율적인 IPTV 서비스를 위한 네트워크 구축 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

IPTV services, as the convergence service of communication and broadcasting, are regarded as the essential information communication media in the New Economy era by providing the consumers with various services through the collaboration among communications, broadcasting and many of other media service providers. The research starts with recognition that, in the new media era, where communication and broadcasting are converging, there are endless demands for new services and various contents, which are driving forces behind the business model of IPTV. In other words, the research expected that customer satisfaction and purchase intention would be different according to the service quality(contents). It was expected that the difference of the perceived service quality(contents) could cause the difference of the process of adopting new technologies. The study on how consumers are satisfied with services provided, and which factors of the service quality have a more significant effect on consumer satisfaction will provide very valuable information for forecasting future trends in the IPTV market. The research tried to investigate factors which influence on consumer satisfaction and loyalty through an empirical survey with real users of IPTV services. Based on the results, the research suggested effective ways of diffusing IPTV.

최근 통칭 IPTV라고 불리는 새로운 개념의 텔레비전 서비스가 활성화되고 있다. VoD(Video On Demand)라고 불리는 콘텐츠 제공방식은 시청자들이 보고 싶은 프로그램을 시간에 구애받지 않고 원하는 시간에 볼 수 있게 되었고, 그 외에도 여러 부가서비스들이 제공되어 사업자들이 새로운 방식으로 수익을 창출하게 되었다. 다양한 서비스를 제공 중인 IPTV는 IP를 기본으로 하여 서비스된다. IP와 방송의 융합으로 IP기반의 서비스에서 발생 했던 보안 위협이 IPTV에서도 발생 할 수 있다. 국제 IPTV 보안 권고안은 추상적이라 현장에 바로 적용시키기는 어려움이 많다. 본 논문에서는 표준 모델을 기반으로 서비스가 어떠한 위협에 노출되어 있는지, 서비스를 제공하는 과정에서 수집하는 사용자의 어떠한 개인정보가 노출될 위협에 있는지에 대해 알아보고 이 취약점들을 분석하여 한국형 보안 모델을 설계하였다.

최근 들어 통방융합이 진행되고 있는데, 이는 방송, 통신, 전화 서비스가 통합된 TPS(Triple Play Service)를 제공하는 IPTV(Internet Protocol TV) 서비스를 등장시켰다. IPTV는 방송 서비스와 VOD(Video on Demand) 서비스를 제공하며, 이에 대한 보안을 위해 IPTV 포럼에서 CAS(Conditional Access System)와 DRM(Digital Rights Management) 보안 솔루션 인터 페이스 표준화를 진행 중에 있다. CAS는 실시간 방송 보안에 적합하고, DRM은 VOD 서비스 보안에 적합하다. 그러나 이 보안 시스템들은 제작자에 따라 권한정보의 표현 및 관리가 서로 상이하여 상호운용 부재를 야기한다. 또한 CAS와 DRM의 인터페이스 표준화 작업이 완료되면 표준 인터페이스를 기반으로 이기종 보안 시스템간의 통합 운용 요구가 발생할 것으로 사료된다. 이는 보안 시스템과 플랫폼에 독립적으로 상호 운용 가능한 권한 정보 관리 시스템의 필요성을 의미한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 디지털 콘텐츠의 보호와 유연한 IPTV 서비스를 위해 CAS와 DRM을 연계하여 권한 정보를 관리하는 수신권한 관리 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였다.

IPTV 서비스의 활성화를 위해 IPTV 단말의 사업자 이동성 확보 방법이 제기되었다. 사업자 이동성이 확보되면 서비스 이용자가 IPTV 단말을 시중에서 직접 구매 후 자신이 서비스를 제공받고자 하는 사업자를 스스로 선택하여 IPTV 서비스를 제공받을 수 있다. 이를 위해, IPTV 단말은 서비스를 제공받기 전 일련의 프로비저닝(provisioning) 과정을 거쳐야 한다. 한국정보통신기술협회(이하 TTA)는 IPTV 단말의 프로비저닝 절차에 관한 표준 기술 규격인 TTAK.KO-08.0026을 제정하였다. 본 논문에서는 이의 개정 문서인 TTAK.KO-08.0026/R2의 내용과 그에 기반하여 구현한 IPTV 단말 프로비저닝 시스템의 구성, 기능, 동작 절차, 파라미터 및 이슈 사항 등에 관해 소개하고, IPTV 단말 프로비저닝 절차의 파급 효과와 표준화의 발전 방향에 대해 논하고자 한다.

3rd party content service is a consumer-based wide selection of contents in which IPTV provider believes will enhance the service considerably extending the variety of contents to finally provide a personalized service. Therefore, the combination of 3rd party content services and the IPTV infrastructure creates a good revenue opportunity but they need to be created. IPTV offers to create personalized channels to distribute 3rd party content service. However, the cost of $3^{rd}$ party content delivery is high when the service is provided from a faraway server. IPTV provider requires an effective strategy of replica placement to minimize the cost without a tradeoff on the performance. We propose a cluster-based strategy of replica placement to find the right balance between cost and performance. The results demonstrate the achievement of an outstanding delivery time and low cost.

현재 서비스 되고 있는 IPTV는 디지털 방송, 단방향 VOD서비스, 지상파 방송, 케이블 방송을 제공하는 TV용 IPTV에서 인터랙티브 디지털 방송과 같은 유무선 통신망을 이용하는 웹 기반 IPTV로 확장되여 서비스 되고 있다. 하지만 현재 서비스 되고 있는 IPTV에서는 사용의 불편함으로 인해 시청자와의 인터랙션이 많이 일어나 않고 있으며 사용자가 접근할 수 있는 콘텐츠 종류가 많지 않다는 문제점을 지니고 있다. 또한 추가 콘텐츠들이 시청하는 화면 많은 부분을 가리는 문제가 발생하고 있다. 이러한 문제점들을 해결하기 위해서 IPTV 화면상에 QR코드를 삽입하고 이를 스마트폰으로 인식하여 다양한 인터랙션 정보에 접근할 수 있는 방법을 제시하고 QR코드를 동영상에 삽입할 수 있는 편집기를 개발하여 사용자가 쉽게 콘텐츠를 생성하고 접근할 수 있도록 하겠다.

Internet protocol television (IPTV) service depends on the network quality of service (QoS) and bandwidth of the broadband service provider. IEEE 802.16j mobile multihop relay Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access networks have the opportunity to offer high bandwidth capacity by introducing relay stations. However, to actually satisfy QoS requirements for offering IPTV services (HDTV, SDTV, Web TV, and mobile TV) for heterogeneous users' requests, providers must use a video server for each IPTV service type, which increases the network load, especially bandwidth consumption and forwarding time. In this paper, we present a solution for forwarding IPTV video streaming to diverse subscribers via an 802.16j broadband wireless access network. In particular, we propose a new multicast tree construction and aggregation mechanism based on the unique property of prime numbers. Performance evaluation results show that the proposed scheme reduces both bandwidth consumption and forwarding time.

Due to rapid developments of IT technologies, convergence services like IPTV (Internet protocol television) are shown up. Even though expert and customer had great expectations for this innovative service, commercialization was delayed for years by the legal dispute between industry players. One of the biggest problems was that whether internet backbone providers have to share their internet network backbone with IPTV service providers (which don't have network backbone) or not. As other countries, Korean government set the rules that ISP have to offer indiscriminate access to other IPTV service provider. At the same time, internet backbone providers can charge access charge based on cost by way of compensation. Thus access charge is very critical to the IPTV industry players. The objective of this paper is to provide model that can calculate the reasonable access charge by system dynamics, based upon real data in Korean telecommunication industry.
