  • This paper propose a method to detect the rotor position of IPMSM(Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor) at standstill without a position sensor. The proposed method is based on current variation caused by the magnetic saturation of stator core as rotor position. By choosing an appropriate voltage vector and applying it to phase winding, it enables the algorithm to discern between a north pole and south pole, and subsequently estimates an absolute position. This method dose not depend on the model of the motor and the motor parameter.

  • In this paper the speed control of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) is presented using sliding mode control. Recently in the control of the motor, various modern control theories are used. Sliding mode control is one of these, which has been spotlighted in the area of the motor drive. By using sliding mode control as the speed controller of IPMSM, the superior performances, which are the fast dynamic responce without overshoot the robustness to the external load disturbance and the alleviation of the chattering, are attained.

  • An inductance measurement method for interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM) is proposed in this paper. In this method, the motor is measured at standstill condition, and only a 3-phase voltage source, an oscilloscope and a DC voltage source are required. Depending on the deductive dq-axis voltage equations in the stationary frame of reference, the dq-axis inductances at different current magnitude and vector angle can be calculated by the measured 3-phase voltages and currents. And hence, the saturation and cross-magnetizing effect of the inductances are measurable. This paper introduces the principle equations, experiment setup, data processing, and results comparison on the concentrated-winding and distributed-winding IPMSMs.

  • 집중권 방식의 견인용 영구자석 매입형 동기전동기(IPMSM)는 출력밀도의 관점에서 우수하나 심각한 영구자석 와전류 손실을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 영구자석 매입형 동기전동기의 자기적 특성을 분석하여 V-타입 회전자 영구자석의 각도와 폭을 변경함으로써 철손을 최소화하는 최적설계를 수행하였다. 자성체의 비선형성을 고려하기 위하여 자기등가회로법 대신 유한요소법을 이용하였으며, 각 파라메타가 영구자석에 발생하는 철손에의 영향 및 파라메타간의 교호작용을 파악하기 위하여 시뮬레이션 기반의 실험계획법을 사용하였다. 이를 통하여 모터의 성능을 유지하면서 철손을 상당히 줄인 집중권 방식의 영구자석 매입형 동기전동기의 최적설계를 반응표면법을 이용하여 도출하였으며, 유한요소법을 이용하여 이를 검증하였다.

  • 효율 및 내환경성에서 우수한 성능을 갖는 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기(IPMSM, Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor)는 최근 철도차량용 견인전동기로서 주목받고 있다. 일반 도시 철도차량의 추진제어시스템은 장시간 연속 운행 및 자연통풍냉각 방식의 설계가 요구되므로 대전력 스위칭으로 인한 발열 문제가 고려된 낮은 스위칭 주파수 및 6-스텝 제어 아래 인버터의 고성능 제어가 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 6-스텝 및 낮은 스위칭 주파수로 IPMSM을 제어하기 위한 PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) 동기화 방법을 기술하고 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제어 성능을 검증하였다.

  • Recently, Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM) is widely used in the industry applications such as power train for hybrid vehicles and compressor motors of air-conditioner due to its high power density and wide speed range. In designing motors, pole slot combination should be chosen properly according to the use of the motor and driving method in the initial design stage, accordingly there have been many researches about pole slot combination. As a part of the studies, this paper presents a comparison of characteristics of concentrated winding IPMSM, such as back-emf, Total Harmonic Distortion(THD) and core losses for each pole slot combination. By comparing the characteristics of each model, this paper can be a guide or reference in determining pole slot combination in the initial design stage.

  • In order to use the high-speed range of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(same as IPMSM above), the motor should be at flux weakening control status. High-speed range is called field weakening control region or constant power region, and explain the basic theory of flux weakening control used in the constant power region. Back electromotive force of IPMSM is measured. and field weakening conrtrol driving characteristics is configurated verification test. Through experimentation speed-torque characteristic curve, the efficiency variation corresponding to the current phase angl,the efficiency map were produced.

  • This paper describes a development of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) and driver for electric vehicle (EV) which is driven by 2 motors without differential gear. A inverter is designed to drive 2 motors with 6 legs IGBT switches in a control board. Also vector control algorithm is implemented with maximum torque control method in the constant torque region and field weakening control method considering inverter capacity in the constant power region. Prototype IPMSM and inverter have been developed. To verify dynamic characteristics of the those about torque to speed and efficiency etc. We are making an experiment on that. Though that is not completed, we will show results to be acquired.

  • This paper deals with a fault diagnosis algorithm for open faults in the switching devices of PWM inverter-fed IPMSM (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) drive. The proposed diagnostic algorithm is realized in the controller using the informations of three-phase currents or reference line-to-line voltages, without requiring additional equipments for fault detection. Under switch open fault conditions, the conventional dq model used to control an AC motor cannot directly be applied for the analysis of drive system, since three-phase balanced condition does not hold. To overcome this limitation, a fault model based on the line-to-line voltages is employed for the simulation studies. For comparative performance evaluation through the experiments, the entire control system is implemented using digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320F28335. Simulations and experimental results are presented to verify the validity of the proposed diagnosis algorithm.

  • This paper proposes the rotor position and rotor speed estimation for an interior permanent magnet synchronous machines (IPMSM) using Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) in alpha-beta coordinate system. Conventional algorithms using UKF are based on the simple observer model of IPMSM in d-q coordinate system. Rotor acceleration is neglected within the sampling step. An expansion of the observer model in an alpha-beta coordinate system with the consideration of the rotor speed variation provides the improved rotor position and speed estimation. The results show good stability concerning the expansion of observer model for the IPMSM.
