  • This paper deals with the optimization inverter design and minimization Conduced EMI noise by customizing IPM(Intelligent Power Module). Generally, In case of IPM, we realized that the trade-off relation between switching loss and spike voltage. Higher gate resistor causes tile lower spike voltage and the higher turn-off switching loss. But we know that the life cycle of inverter and the susceptibility of noise, so we optimized the gate resistor. Proposed method is that optimized the gate resistor suitable for the inverter and motor. The simulation and experimental results show that the spike voltage and Conduced EMI noise can be reduced without the additional circuit.

  • A bootstrap circuit for floating power supply has the advantage of being simple and inexpensive. However, the duty cycle and on-time are limited by the requirement to refresh the charge in the bootstrap capacitor. Hence, this paper deals with a design of charge pump circuit for a floating gate power supply of an IPM. The operation of the proposed circuit applied by three-phase inverter system for driving induction motor are verified through the experiments.

  • This paper proposes the 80-kW high-efficiency bidirectional hybrid SiC boost/buck converter using droop control for DC nano-grid. The proposed converter consists of four 20-kW modules to achieve fault tolerance, ease of thermal management, and reduced component stress. Each module is constructed as a cascaded structure of the two basic bi-directional converters, namely, interleaved boost and buck converters. A six-pack hybrid SiC intelligent power module (IPM) suitable for the proposed cascaded structure is adopted for high-efficiency and compactness. The proposed converter with hybrid switching method reduces the switching loss by minimizing switching of insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT). Each module control achieves smooth transfer from buck to boost operation and vice versa, since current controller switchover is not necessary. Furthermore, the proposed parallel control using DC droop with secondary control, enhances the current sharing accuracy while well regulating the DC bus voltage. A 20-kW prototype of the proposed converter has been developed and verified with experiments and indicates a 99.3% maximum efficiency and 98.8% rated efficiency.

  • In this paper, AC electric vehicle propulsion system(Converter/Inverter) using high power semiconductor, IPM(Intelligent Power module) is proposed. 2-Parallel operation of two PWM converter is adopted for increasing capacity of system and the VVVF inverter control is used a mixed control algorithm, where the vector control strategy at low speed region and slip-frequency control strategy at high speed region. The proposed propulsion system is verified by experimental results with a 1,350kW converter and 1.100kVA inverter with four 210kW traction motors.

  • This paper presents an active auxiliary edge-resonant DC link snubber with a ringing surge damper and a three-phase voltage source type zero voltage soft-switching inverter with the resonat snubber treated here for the AC servo motor driver applications. The operation of the active auxiliary edge-resonant DC link snubber circuit with PWM voltage is described, together with the practical design method to select its circuit parameters. The three-phase voltage source type soft-switching inverter with a single edge-resonant DC link snubber treated here is evaluated and discussed for the small-scale permanent magnet (PM) type-AC servo motor driver from an experimental point of view. In addition to these, the AC motor stator current and its motor speed response for the proposed three-phase soft-switching inverter employing Intelligent Power Module(IPM) based on IGBTS are compared with those of the conventional three-phase hard-switching inverter using IPM. The practical effectiveness of the three-phase soft-switching inverter-fed permanent magnet type AC motor speed tracking servo driver is proven on the basis of the common mode current in a novel type three-phase soft-switching inverter-fed AC motor side and the conductive noise on the mains terminal interface voltage as compared with those of the conventional three-phase hard-switching inverter-fed permanent magnet type AC servo motor driver for the speed tracking applications.

  • Plasma Display Panel(PDP) has been recognized as one of the most competitive display panel. Hence, the importance of PDP driving circuit is getting higher and higher. At the same time, it is strongly required for the driving circuit to be high efficiency, high stability, and cost effective one. In this work, a stable PDP driving circuit is developed by improving the circuit configuration. And the reliability and the productivity of the driving circuit are improved by using the Intelligent Power Module(IPM) technology. Finally operating characteristics of the developed IPM driving circuit are verified by using signal source board developed.

  • 본 논문은 IPM의 구동부, 과열, 과전류, 단락 및 제어부의 부족전압 제어하는 IC의 설계중 Over-Temperature protection기능에 대한 것으로서 기존의 온도센서나 과열검출 Tr을 사용하지 않고, 온도에 따른 MOSFET의 Rds(on)변화를 검출하여 과열을 방지하는 Direct Over Temperature protection기능을 PSpice를 이용하여 modelling하고 simulation 한 결과에 대해서 기술하였다.

  • 본 논문은 3상 AC 모터와 영구동기자석 모터제어를 위한 새로운 1200V, 5A/10A 지능형 전력반도체 모듈(Intelligent Power Module, IPM) 제품을 소개한다. 이 전력 모듈은 DIP(Dual in line)패키지의 DBC(Direct Bond Copper)로 구성되어 있으며 Silicon on Insulator, SOI type의 6 채널 게이트 드라이브와 6개의 IGBT, Diode로 구성되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 1200V, 5A/10A 의 새로운 전력반도체의 전기적 특성 및 드라이빙 퍼포먼스를 소개한다.

단순 수명정보를 이용한 IPM의 베이지안 신뢰도 평가 연구 (A Study on Bayesian Reliability Evaluation of IPM using Simple Information)

  • This paper suggests an approach to evaluate the reliability of an intelligent power module with information deficiency of prior distribution and the characteristics of censored data through Bayesian statistics. This approach used a prior distribution of Bayesian statistics using the lifetime information provided by the manufacturer and compared and evaluated diffuse prior (vague prior) distributions. To overcome the computational complexity of Bayesian posterior distribution, it was computed with Gibbs sampling in the Monte Carlo simulation method. As a result, the standard deviation of the prior distribution developed using simple information was smaller than that of the posterior distribution calculated with the diffuse prior. In addition, it showed excellent error characteristics on RMSE compared with the Kaplan-Meier method.
