  • In this paper, we propose an architecture for communication between the IPv4-based UA and the IPv6-based UA in IMS based Mobile Networks, and design and implement the IMS protocol Translator for verification of the architecture. For the design of the internetworking between the IPv4 and the IPv6, we analyze the transition mechanisms and investigate the protocol translator. The IMS protocol translator is composed of the IMS-ALG(IP Multimedia Subsystem - Application Level Gateway) and TrGW(Translation Gateway), and the conformance of these components are verified by experiments.

  • At the view of Application layer, there are many researches to achieve the cross-layer optimization with Physical layer. Scalable video coding is good example. Although it is necessary to consider the session layer which lies halfway between two layers, the research about that is insufficient. We present a feasible solution of dynamic session control for scalable video coding over IMS.

  • Since Internet Protocol (IP) is the most important protocol in Next Generation Networks (NGNs), 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) utilizes Session Initial Protocol (SIP) based on IP as the base protocol for negotiating sessions in IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Different from traditional circuit-switched network, in IMS, the media traffic and signaling are delivered through IP transport. The media traffic may affect the signaling efficiency in core network, due to traffic collisions and best effort packets delivery. This paper proposes a novel path-migration mechanism for enhancing the traffic efficiency in integrated NGN-IMS. The simulation results show that the interference and traffic collision can be reduce by applying proposed path-migration mechanism and the signaling efficiency in core network can be improved with higher system capability and voice quality.

  • In Public Switched Telephone Networks(PSTN) number portability is implemented by utilizing Intelligent Network(IN) functions for number mapping. And voice over IP(VoIP) and IP Multimedia Subsystem(IMS) networks can deploy number portability by using E.164 Number Mapping(ENUM). This paper discuss the possibility of using E.164 Number Mapping(ENUM) for number portability in voice over IP/IP Multimedia Subsystem and Public Switched Telephone Networks, eliminating the need for Number Portability Database(NPDB) for number portability routing data in Public Switched Telephone Networks.

  • The trend of Next Generation Networks' (NGN) evolution is towards providing multiple and multimedia services to users through ubiquitous networks. The aim of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is to integrate mobile communication networks and computer networks. The IMS plays an important role in NGN services, which can be achieved by heterogeneous networks and different access technologies. IMS can be used to manage all service related issues such as Quality of Service (QoS), Charging, Access Control, User and Services Management. Nowadays, internet technology is changing with each passing day. New technologies yield new impact to IMS. In this paper, we perform a survey of IMS and discuss the different impacts of new technologies on IMS such as P2P, SCIM, Web Service and its security issues.

현재 AS mechanism을 이용하여 3GPP규격 상에 정의된 대표적 서비스는 presence service이며, presence service network은 presence server, presence agent, presence proxy, watcher등으로 구성된다. 마지막으로 상기에 언급한 규격을 바탕으로 실제 구축된 Instant messaging/presence service network을 제시한다. • An AP that is used by smart device is going to be complicated because smart devices support diverse functions. As a result, multiple low-level IPs including a dedicated CPU are integrated in a high-level subsystem for supporting complicated function such as multimedia codec and camera. A subsystem has software that executes separately from main system, and the software needs to be initialized for every execution of the subsystem. This causes increase of the subsystem startup time so it should be improved because startup time of subsystem affects launching time of application. Methods in applied to computer system for fast startup also could be applied to fast startup of subsystem because subsystem is similar with computer system. In this paper, we apply snapshot method that is used in computer system to subsystem and analyzes the pros and cons. And snapshot method could not be applied to register of IP without modification because register of IP offers restricted read and write. So this paper suggests technique that applying snapshot to each characteristic of register.

  • Machine to Machine (M2M) communications is communications between a business application and devices via a communication network without any direct human interaction. The aim of our research is to connect any M2M device with an M2M AS (Application server) through an IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) Network Core using a M2M Gateway, in order to develop an M2M Horizontal Services Platform over IMS. An IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is an architectural framework defined by the wireless standards body of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) for delivering IP multimedia services to mobile users. This paper shows the design and implementation of a Horizontal M2M Network Services Platform over an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) using the Message Session Relay Protocol (MSRP). We summarize the protocols and architectures that formed the basis for the creation of our architecture. We provide a detailed description of our architecture design, describing the call flow of the proposed architecture and the entities operating in each process. We also describe the design and implementation process detailing the different tools used, explaining the selection of each component and its importance; also how we designed and implemented the M2M gateway, M2M Application Server, Open IMS Core, business application and M2M devices.

  • The IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) is used for providing multimedia services to network provider. The IMS is composed of many nodes, depending on their function. According to the status (fault, performance, etc.) of each node, we need to provide dynamic routing algorithm. In this paper, we propose a dynamic routing algorithm for management of the IMS nodes using SNMP based on FCAPS (Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance and Security) in the IMS network.
