  • Until now, the implementation of servo motor control units which is being applied in various industrial ares such as industrial system, office equipment, home appliance and robotics, used the MCU and DSC(or DSP). However, MCU and DSC have limitations of not being able to maximize control efficiency of the motor and the flexibility. An Efficient WLAN Device Power Control Technique for Streaming Multimedia Contents over Mobile IP Storage (모바일 IP 스토리지 상에서 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 실행을 위한 효율적인 무선랜 장치 전력제어 기법)

  • Mobile IP storage has been proposed to overcome storage limitation in the flash memory and hard disks. It provides almost capacity-free space for mobile devices over wireless IP networks. However, battery lifetime of the mobile devices is reduced rapidly because of power consumption with continuous use of a WLAN device when multimedia contents are being streamed through the mobile IP storage. This paper proposes an energy-efficient WLAN device power control technique for streaming multimedia contents with the mobile IP storage. The proposed technique consists of a prefetch buffer input/output module, a WLAN device power control module, and a reconfigurable prefetch buffer module. Besides, it adaptively determines the size of the prefetch buffer according to a quality of the multimedia contents, and it dynamically controls the power mode of the WLAN device on the basis of power on-off operations while streaming the multimedia contents. We evaluate the performance of the proposed technique on a PXA270-based mobile device that employs the embedded linux 2.6.11, Intel iSCSI reference codes, and a WLAN device. Extensive experiments reveal that the proposed technique can save the energy consumption of the WLAN device up to 8.5 times with QVGA multimedia contents, as compared with no power control.

  • To achieve high-speed communication and to improve QoS characteristics, ATM is now being used as underlying transfer mechanism of Internet protocols, or TCP/IP. When TCP uses the ABR service in ATM networks, the ABR service control is important to improve the performance of TCP/IP traffic as long as there is no interaction between ABR rate control and TCP flow control. In such environment, the interoperability of EFCI and ER switches becomes unavoidable in order to more effectively control ABR traffic in ATM network. In this paper, we use the model of mixed EFCI-ER environment and discuss the performance issues, e.g., the fairness of bandwidth allocation, drop rate, throughput by using various ER switch algorithms. Among various ERSwitch algorithms, we present one algorithm that have a less network topology and allocate the fair share of VC bandwidth by simulation results.

  • This paper presents a new method for world wide network motor controlled system. It uses disturbance observer to present high precision position control algorithm to disturbance change, and to apply this to induction motors. It shows that proposed algorithm is strong in induction motor precision control for disturbance change. This system with disturbance observer used deadbeat control, which have high benefit, is good for quick disturbance compensation. To show these effectiveness the whole process is simulated by simulink, and also experimented by DSP6416 with TCP-IP network board.

  • We describe the MiniWeb[7] TCP/IP stack (mIP), which is an extremely small implementation of the TCP/IP protocol suite running 8 or 32-bit micro controllers intended for embedded control systems, and satisfying the subset of RFC1122 requirements needed for host­to-host interoperability over different platforms. Our TCP/IP implementation does sacrifice some of TCP's mechanisms such as fragmentation, urgent data, retransmission, or congestion control. Our implementation is applicable to web based controllers. The network protocols are tested in operational networks using CommView and Dummynet where the various operational parameters such as bandwidth, delay, and queue sizes can be set and controlled.

  • This paper deals with implementation of middleware using CAN(Controller Area Network) network and TCP/IP for real-time distributed control system of a humanoid robot. Existent system using CAN network is available. But, there is problems in extensibility and flexibility. In this raper, the new system using TCP/IP for solution and improvement of problems is proposed. The new system is applied to ISHURO-II, real-humanoid robot. The performance is verified through experiment.

  • Remote control and monitoring of information appliances require RTOS and TCP/IP network module to communicate each other. Traditional TCP/IP protocol stacks, however, require relatively large resources to be useful in small 8 or 16-bit systems both in terms of code size and memory usage. It motivates design and implementation of micro TCP/IP that is lightweight for embedded systems. Micro embedded web server is also required to control and monitor information appliances through the Web. In this paper, we design and implement micro TCP/IP and Web server for information appliances. For this goal, we investigate requirements for the interoperability of embedded systems with the Internet and the Web-based control of embedded systems. Next, we compare our micro TCP/IP protocol stack with that of RTIP and QPlus in terms of object code size and performance. The size of micro TCP/IP protocol stack can be reduced by 3/2 and 1/4, respectively, comparing with that of RTIP and QPlus. We also show that the performance of our micro TCP/IP is similar to that of RTIP and QPlus since it handles 2.9Mbps when delayed ACK is not adapted.

  • Recently, IP mobility study of infra's common elements is undergoing processes to achieve FMC based on All-IP. Existing typical mobility technology based on IP is IETF's Mobile IP. However, it faced to limitations due to packet loss, delays when MN is moving on Mobile IP, also existing network infra - routers (FA)-needed to add/change the functions to support Mobile IP. In this paper, existing mobility problems based on IP and the suggested improvements for platforms which support mobility, quality, security are proposed. It discusses the performance on the current existing IP infrastructure derived from simulation analysis on mobility packet loss and delay. From the resulting data, improvements will also be outlined for optimal performance.

Effects of Indigestible Dextrin on Bowel Function and Serum Lipid in Rats (난소화성 덱스트린이 횐쥐의 장기능 및 혈청 지질에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of indigestible dextrin on bowel function and serum lipid. Recently developed indigestible dextrin is water soluble dietary fiber obtained by heating and enzyme-treatment of potato starch with low viscosity. SD male rats weighing 80~85g were divided into three groups; control diet(IC), control +5% pectin(IP), control +5% indigestible dextin(ID). Experimental rats were fed one of the experimental diets ad libitum for six weeks. Weight gain, food intake, and food efficiency ratio were not significantly different among other groups. Those of ID tended to be higher than in IP and IC. Weights of liver, spleen and kidney were not significantly different among groups. Epididymal fat pads weight in W and ID tended to be lower than in IC. The weight of cecum was sinificantly higher in m than in other groups(p<0.05). The weight and length of large intestine tended to be higher in IP and ID than in IC. Total feces excretion of ID and If tended to be more than that of IC. Transit time was shorter in IP than in other groups. Serum total lipid, total cholesterol and TG levels were higher in IC group than other groups. The fecal excretion of lipid was significantly higher in IP than in other groups(p<0.05). That of ID tended to be more than that of IC, so fat apparent absorption of ID was lower than that of IC. Ca absorption were decreased more in IP than in other groups(p<0.05).
