  • In this study, effective multispectral Landsat TM band combinations for a merging with the high resolution IRS-1C PAN data using the IHS method to improve landuse accuracy is discussed. From the pre-classified image using the merged images with TM all six band images(with the exception of band 6 image) and PAN image, a sample data which has ten classes was generated. An evaluation of the overall classification accuracy for the representative seven merged images which were merged using each TM three-band images and IRS-1C PAN image by IHS method for the sample area. The increase in classification accuracy is most significant with the inclusion of two of TM4, TM5 and TM7 infrared band images. Especially, the largest increase(11.8 percent) in landuse classification accuracy were investigated when Landsat TM247 bands were merged with IRS-1C PAN data. The classification accuracy when TM three band image and PAN image were used without merging is higher than result of the case of using the merged images.

  • To obtain new information using a single remotely sensed image data is limited to extract various information. Recent trends in the remote sensing show that many researchers integrate and analyze many different forms of remotely sensed data, such as optical and radar satellite images, aerial photograph, airborne multispectral scanner data and land spectral scanners. Korean researchers have not been using such a combined dataset yet. This study intended to apply the technique of integration between optical data and radar data(SAR) and to examine the output that had been obtained through the technique of supervised classification using the result of integration. As a result, we found of better enhanced image classification results by using IHS conversion than by using RGB mixed and interband correlation.

  • Objectives : The Purpose of this study is to investigate clinical characteristics with 120 patients who have sufferred from headache and were treated. Methods : We classified 120 patients into several groups by International Headache Society(IHS) classification and evaluated the effects of oriental medical therapy on headache. Results : 1. According to the statistics, women patients were more than men. And 50s has highest number of headache patients. 2. In classification by IHS, tension type headache were highest. 3. 24.2% of patients had entered Department of Internal Medicine, Colleage of Oriental Medicine Dongeui Univ for treatment within six month of onset. 4. According to the statistics, headache of whole part has highest number of headache patients. 5. The most number of associated symptoms were nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia etc. 6. The most number of headache patient's past history were hypertension. 7. In classification by oriental medical differentiation of symptom and signs, the rate of blood deficiency were highest. 8. 64.2% of patients said they were satisfied with treatment, reporting half the frequency of headache or better from before treatment. Conclusions : In conclusion, the present results suggest that oriental medical therapy has effects on headache.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate clinical characteristics with 25 patients who have suffered from headache and were treated. Methods : We classified 25 patients into several groups by IHS classification and evaluated the effects of oriental medical therapy on headache. Results : 1. According to the statistics, instances of migraine were more prevalent than tension headache, especially among women. 2. 28% of patient had entered for treatment within one month of onset. 3. Common associated symptoms included dizziness, nausea, dyspepsia, palpitation and insomnia. 4. In classification by the oriental medical differentiation of symptoms and signs, the rate of stagnation of the humid dam and deficiency of qi, these two types were highest. 5. 56% of patients said they were satisfied with the treatment, reporting half the frequency of headache or better from before treatment. Conclusions : The present results suggest that oriental medical therapy has effects on headache. Further clinical comparative studies on herb-medication versus acupuncture therapy for headache are urged.

  • Classification of the land cover characteristics is a major application of remote sensing. The goal of this study is to propose an optimal classification process for electro-optical camera(EOC) of Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite(KOMPSAT). The study was carried out on Landsat TM, high spectral resolution image and KOMPSAT EOC, high spatial resolution image of Miho river basin, Korea. The study was conducted in two stages: one was image fusion of TM and EOC to gain high spectral and spatial resolution image, the other was land cover classification on fused image. Four fusion techniques were applied and compared for its topographic interpretation such as IHS, HPF, CN and wavelet transform. The fused images were classified by radial basis function neural network(RBF-NN) and artificial neural network(ANN) classification model. The proposed RBF-NN was validated for the study area and the optimal model structure and parameter were respectively identified for different input band combinations. The results of the study propose an optimal classification process of KOMPSAT EOC to improve the thematic mapping and extraction of environmental information.

  • Objectives : The aims of this study were to investigate the factors of headache and to evaluate the effects of oriental medical therapy on headache. Methods : 45 patients were classified into several groups by oriental medical classification and also by IHS classification. they were treated with acupuncture therapy and herbal medicines. Results : The results were as follows 1. 55.6% of patients has etiologic factors. 2. Self-reports showed that 15 patients were introvertive and 4 patients were nervous. 3. Sleep disorders, digestive troubles, and dizziness were accompanied with some patients. 4. After the oriental medical therapy, 15 patients didn't feel an ache, 11 patients were improved a little, 8 patients didn't recovered, and 11 patients could not be known. Conclusions : In conclusion, the present results suggest that oriental medical therapy has effects on headaches.

  • A suitable pan-sharpening method has to be chosen with respect to the used spectral characteristic of the multispectral bands and the intended application. The research on pan-sharpening algorithm in improving the accuracy of image classification has been reported. For a classification, preserving the spectral information is important. Other applications such as road detection depend on a sharp and detailed display of the scene. Various criteria applied to scenes with different characteristics should be used to compare the pan-sharpening methods. The pan-sharpening methods in our research comprise rather common techniques like Brovey, IHS(Intensity Hue Saturation) transform, and PCA(Principal Component Analysis), and more complex approaches, including wavelet transformation. The extraction of matching pairs was performed through SIFT descriptor and Canny edge detector. The experiments showed that pan-sharpening techniques for spatial enhancement were effective for extracting point and linear features. As a result of the validation it clearly emphasized that a suitable pan-sharpening method has to be chosen with respect to the used spectral characteristic of the multispectral bands and the intended application. In future it is necessary to design hybrid pan-sharpening for the updating of features and land-use class of a map.
