  • The notions of pre-local function, semi-local functions and ${\alpha}$-local functions with respect to a topology and an ideal are introduced, and several properties are investigated. Also, the concept of $P-\mathcal{I}$-open sets and $P-\mathcal{I}$-closed sets in ideal topological spaces are discussed. Relations between $\mathcal{I}$-open sets and $P-\mathcal{I}$-open sets are provided, and several properties related to $P-\mathcal{I}$-open sets, pre-local functions, semi-local functions and ${\alpha}$-local functions with respect to a topology and an ideal are investigated.

  • For positive integers $n_i \geq 2, i = 1, 2, 3, 4$, such that $\Sigma \frac{n_i}{1} < 2$, there exists a quadrilateral $P = P_1 P_2 P_3 P_4$ in the hyperbolic plane $H^2$ with the interior angle $\frac{n_i}{\pi}$ at $P_i$. Let $\Gamma \subset Isom(H^2)$ be the (discrete) group generated by reflections in each side of $P$. Then the quotient space $H^2/\gamma$ is a differentiable orbifold of type $(^* n_1 n_2 n_3 n_4)$. It will be shown that the deformation space of $Rp^2$-structures on this orbifold can be mapped continuously and bijectively onto the cell of dimension 4 - \left$\mid$ {i$\mid$n_i = 2} \right$\mid$$.

  • Generally, Quicksort selects the pivot from leftmost, rightmost, middle, or random location in the array. This paper suggests Quicksort using middle range pivot $P_0$ and continually divides into 2. This method searches the minimum value $L$ and maximum value $H$ in the length n of list $A$. Then compute the initial pivot key $P_0=(H+L)/2$ and swaps $a[i]{\geq}P_0$,$a[j]<P_0$ until $i$=$j$ or $i$>$j$. After the swap, the length of list $A_0$ separates in two lists $a[1]{\leq}A_1{\leq}a[j]$ and $a[i]{\leq}A_2{\leq}a[n]$ and the pivot values are selected by $P_1=P_0/2$, $P_2=P_0+P_1$. This process repeated until the length of partial list is two. At the length of list is two and $a$[1]>$a$[2], swaps as $a[1]{\leftrightarrow}a[2]$. This method is simpler pivot key process than Quicksort and improved the worst-case computational complexity $O(n^2)$ to $O(n{\log}n)$.

  • The sulfur amino acid composition in soybean (Glycine max L.) seeds may be an essential characteristic of new cultivars for some animal diets. Variation in seed storage protein among genotypes might make it possible to improve the quality of seed protein by genetically altering seed storage protein composition through plant breeding. This study was carried out to determine if mutant strains have potential for improving seed protein quality in soybean. Ten mutant strains had a distinct characteristic of seed storage protein subunits. Among the mutant strains, the sulfur amino acid compositions(methionine plus cystein) of Keburi(P.I.417016), Keburi(P.I.506817), and P.I.54608-1 were relatively higher than those of the others and were 1.9, 2.1, and 1.8%, repectively, which might be due to low levels of ${\alpha}$, ${\alpha}$', and ${\beta}$ subunits of 7S protein. Therefore, it is concluded that the mutant strains, Keburi(P.I.417016), Keburi(P.I.506817), and P.I.54608-1 appear to be potential materials for a breeding program for improving sulfur amino acid composition, and the others also seem to be possible breeding materials for other uses.

  • Decreased cardiac contractility occurs in endotoxicosis, but little is known about the ionic mechanism responsible for myocardial dysfunction. In this study, we examined the changes in $Ca{2+}$ and $K^+$ currents in cardiac myocytes from endotoxin-treated rat. Ventricular myocytes were isolated from normal and endotoxemic rats (ex vivo), that were treated for 10 hours with Salmonella enteritidis lipopolysaccharides (LPS; 1.5 mg/kg) intravenously. Normal cardiac myocytes were also incubated for 6 hours with 200 ng/ml LPS (in vitro). L-type $Ca{2+}$ current $(I_{Ca,L})$ and transient outward $K^+$ current $(I_{to})$ were measured using whole cell patch clamp techniques. Peak $I_{Ca,L}$ was reduced in endotoxemic myocytes (ex vivo; 6.00.4 pA/pF, P<0.01) compared to normal myocytes (control; 10.90.6 pA/pF). Exposure to endotoxin in vitro also attenuated $I_{Ca,L}$ (8.40.4 pA/pF, P<0.01). The amplitude of $(I_{to})$ on depolarization to 60 mV was reduced in endotoxin treated myocytes (16.51.5 pA/pF, P<0.01, ex vivo; 20.00.9 pA/pF, P<0.01 , in vitro) compared to normal myocytes (control; 24.71.0 pA/pF). There was no voltage shift in steady-state inactivation of $I_{Ca,L}$ and $(I_{to})$ between groups. These results suggest that endotoxin reduces $Ca{2+}$ and $K^+$ currents of rat cardiac myocytes, which may lead to cardiac dysfunction.

  • Let G be a cyclic group of prime power order pk, and let I be the augmentation ideal of the integral group ring ℤ[G]. We define a derivation on ℤ/pkℤ[G], and show that for 2 ≤ n ≤ p, an element α ∈ I is in In if and only if the i-th derivative of the image of α in ℤ/pkℤ[G] vanishes for 1 ≤ i ≤ (n - 1).

  • For efficient micro scale syntheses of Rose $Bengal-^{131}I$, $Hippuran-^{131}I$, and $H.S.A.-^{131}I$, the dependence of labelling yields on pH, on salt contents, and on the volume of buffer solution in the reaction mixtures as well as the reaction apparatus were studied. pH of 5.6 was optimum for preparation of both Rose $Bengal-_{131}I$ and Hippuran $-^{13}I$ but pH of 8.5 was optimum for preparation of $H.S.A.-^{131}I$. Salt in the reaction mixtures hindered drastically the formation of $Hippuran-^{131}I$ but it slightly increased the labelling yield of H.S.A.. The compactly closed reaction vessels were effective for preparations of both Rose $Bengal-^{131}I$and $Hippuran-^{131}I$ in small volume. Thereupon, the labelling procedures were modified to bring about higher labelling yields and better reproducibilities. By these newly established procedures, the labelling yields of Rose $Bengal-^{131}I$ and $Hippuran-^{131}I$ could be increased even with the home-produced sodium $iodide-^{131}I$ solution containing reducing agent.

  • Apolipoprotein A-I (Apo A-I) is a major component for high density lipoproteins (HDL). A number of mimetic peptides of Apo A-I were screened from the phase-displayed random peptide library by utilizing monoclonal antibodies (A12). Mimetic peptide for A12 epitope against Apo A-I was selected as CPFARLPVEHHDVVGL (pA1). From the BLAST search, the mimetic peptide pA1 had 40% homology with Apo A-I. As a result of the structural determination of this mimotope using homo/hetero nuclear 2D-NMR techniques and NMR-based distance geometry (DG)/molecular dynamic (MD) computations, DG structure had low penalty value of 0.3-0.7 ${\AA}^2$ and the total RMSD was 0.6-1.6 ${\AA}$. The mimotope pA1 exhibited characteristic conformation including a ${\beta}$-turn from Pro[7] to His[11].
