거더교량의 횡방향 하중효과의 확률론적 분석 (Statistical Analysis of Transverse Load Effects in Girder Bridges)

  • An effective live load model for analyzing probable maximum live load effects such as moment and shear in transverse direction was developed. The main procedure of this live load model is composed of four parts, i.e., firstly, determination of the appropriate influence lines in longitudinal direction, secondly, application of the characteristics of vehicles and traffic patterns in longitudinal direction, thirdly, determination of the appropriate influence lines in transverse direction, and fourthly, application of the characteristics of vehicles and traffic patterns in transverse direction. Through this procedure, the probabilistic distributions of maximum probable load effects are deduced in the form of probability density function (PDF) and/or cumulative density function(CDF). This live load model is able to consider local or global deterioration of bridges in the structural analysis.

  • If we build new building after demolition of commercial building that is located in the downtown, it will be caused a social and environmental problem as wasting of resources and generating of waste. In this study, I investigated about remodel ins, this conclusion is given below. 1. Reconstruction cost is 2.1 times, and construction period is 1.4 times as much remodeling. So remodeling has an advantage. 2. For repairing and reinforcing timeworn building, we reinforced it as using carbon fiber sheet (girder, slab) and injecting method steel plate bonding Also, we tried to maintain efficiency of new building as using epoxy to protect concrete crack. 3. In the side of waste products and cost, remodeling has much more advantage than reconstruct. But demolition used construction period much. Because it had to be reused as repairing and reinforcing. And there was no difference between remodeling cost and reconstruct cost. If we develop research with enterprise.university.laboratory to exploit material and equipment and to train specialized engineer who will has a capacity to know construct repair and reinforce, it can be attribute to prevail remodeling in new construct market.

  • A computer program was developed for the static analusis of a bridge expansion joint mechanism, which is called lazy-tong joint. I t was modelled as a plane truss and statically determinate structure under the assumption of small expansion in bridge girder. The applied load was assumed as a maxium wheel load exerted by a 40th tandem axied tractor-semitrailer truck. By using the developed computer program, reaction forces, axial and bending stresses, deflections, and critical buckling load, etc. of each structural member were analyzed. And they showed good agreement with those analyzed by the comercial F.E.M S/W, ANSYS.

드릴십의 대형 크레인 페데스털의 피로해석에 관한 연구 (On the Fatigue Analysis of Large Crane Pedestal in Drillship)

  • Drillship has several large cranes to handle the various equipments for drilling work. These cranes are supported by crane pedestals which are installed on main deck. Two major loads, i.e., hull girder bending moment and crane operation loading shall be considered to confirm the structural strength in way of crane pedestal. In this paper, the fatigue analysis is performed for the structures in way of crane pedestal considering two(2) loads as mentioned in the above is introduced.

  • The open deck steel bridge is the most common type in railway bridges. Steel I-shaped girders are connected with sleepers directly without ballast and moving train loads are transmitted directly to the girder, so this bridge has weak characteristics on impact. Therefore, considerable accelerations can cause unsatisfactory dynamic behavior of the open deck steel bridge. Especially, Impact created at rail joints can increase the dynamic response of the bridge and this phenomenon would be injurious to passenger comfort. In the present study, dynamic behavior of the open deck steel bridge which has a rail joint is estimated through experimental studies and bridge-train interaction analysis considering surface irregularities by rail joints.

A new bridge-vehicle system part I: Formulation and validation

  • This paper presents the formulation of a new bridge-vehicle system with validation using the field data. Both pitching and twisting modes of the vehicle are considered in the contribution of the dynamic effects in the bridge responses. A heavy vehicle was hired as a control vehicle with known axle weight, axle spacing and spring coefficients. The measured responses were generated from the control vehicle running at a particular speed at a test span at Ma Tau Wai Flyover. The measured responses were acquired using strain gauges installed beneath the girder beams of the test bridge. The simulated responses were generated using BRVEAN that is a self-developed program based on the proposed bridge-vehicle system. The validation shows that the bridge model is valid for representing the test bridge and the governing equations are valid for representing the motion of moving vehicles.

Analysis of concrete shrinkage along truss bridge with steel-concrete composite deck

  • The paper concerns analysis of effects of shrinkage of slab concrete in a steel-concrete composite deck of a through truss bridge span. Attention is paid to the shrinkage alongside the span, i.e., transverse to steel-concrete composite cross-beams. So far this aspect has not been given much attention in spite of the fact that it affects not only steel-concrete decks of bridges but also steel-concrete floors of steel frame building structures. For the problem analysis a two-dimensional model is created. An analytical method is presented in detail. A set of linear equations is built to compute axial forces in members of truss girder flange and transverse shear forces in steel-concrete composite beams. Finally a case study is shown: test loading of twin railway truss bridge spans is described, verified FEM model of the spans is presented and computational results of FEM and the analytical method are compared. Conclusions concerning applicability of the presented analytical method to practical design are drawn. The presented analytical method provides satisfactory accuracy of results in comparison with the verified FEM model.

  • The bridge deck section composed of a concrete slab resting on two I-beam girders are known to be susceptible to flutter instability and vortex shedding. Moreover, the cable stayed bridge in construction is more vulnerable to wind rather than in service when the free cantilever construction method is applied. This paper describes the effect of the dynamic wind loads on the bridge during construction and the effect of alternative temporary stabilizing measures. Therefore, a series of wind tunnel tests and numerical analysis were carried out to determine if any countermeasures were required.

  • Future performance prediction of bridges is challenging task for structural engineers. Well-organized information from design, construction and operation stages is essential for the assessment of structures. Digital twin model is a new concept to realize more reliable data platform for management of infrastructures. Damage history including degradation of material, cracking, corrosion, etc. needs to be accumulated in the digital model. The digital model is linked to the analysis model for the assessment of structural performance considering changed mechanical properties of structural components. In this paper, initial definition digital twin model of a PSC-I girder bridge is proposed.

고성능 강재(HSB 800)를 적용한 플레이트 거더의 휨강도에 대한 플랜지 국부좌굴 (Flange Local Buckling(FLB) for Flexural Strength of Plate Girders with High Performance Steel(HSB 800))

  • 최근에 인장강도 800MPa급 고성능 강재가 개발되었지만 플랜지와 복부판의 상호작용을 고려한 플레이트 거더의 국부좌굴에 대한 연구는 아직까지 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구는 HSB 800을 적용한 플레이트 거더의 플랜지 국부좌굴에 대한 강도를 비선형 유한요소해석으로 평가하였다. 비선형 해석 시 I-단면을 갖는 플레이트 거더의 플랜지와 복부판은 3차원 쉘요소로써 초기결함 및 잔류응력을 고려하였으며, 고성능 강재의 재료모델은 다중선형 재료로 모형화하였다. 이를 적용하여 복부판이 조밀, 비조밀 그리고 세장 단면을 갖는 압축 플랜지에 대해 매개변수 해석을 수행하였다. 플레이트 거더의 플랜지 국부좌굴에 대한 거동을 분석하였고, 본 연구의 비선형 해석 결과를 AASHTO LRFD(2012)와 도로교설계기준(한계상태설계법, 2012)의 압축플랜지 공칭휨강도와 비교하여 평가하였다.
