  • Etching endpoint detection with plasma impedance monitoring (PIM) is demonstrated for small area dielectric layers inductive coupled plasma etching. The endpoint is determined by the impedance harmonic signals variation from the I-V monitoring system. Measuring plasma impedance has been examined as a relatively simple method of detecting variations in plasma and surface conditions without contamination at low cost. Cluster analysis algorithm is modified and applied to real-time endpoint detection for sensitivity enhancement in this work. For verification, the detected endpoint by PIM and real-time cluster analysis is compared with widely used optical emission spectroscopy (OES) signals. The proposed technique shows clear improvement of sensitivity with significant noise reduction when it is compared with OES signals. This technique is expected to be applied to various plasma monitoring applications including fault detections as well as end point detection.

  • The real-time dynamic rating system(DRS) can provide the maximum ampacity within required periods, so it can help the transmission-line operation more safely and efficiently. Because the conductor temperature is the main limit of increasing rating current, conductor temperature monitoring(CTM) technology is the basic to DRS. In this paper, real-time CTM was developed for 345kV XLPE cable in tunnel and we have also compared the CTM result of this study with the result according to IEC 287 and JCS 168 thermal parameters.

  • This study initiates from the question of whether current advertising regulations are appropriate to be applied to the market. It confirms the relationship between misleading online advertisements of weight-loss food and consumer damages. This study argues that it is necessary to enforce monitoring and regulating (strengthening monitoring) for situations where misleading advertisements are exposed in the market with subsequent consumer damages. However, deregulation is needed for advertisements exposed in the name of misleading advertisements but with no consumer damages. In conclusion, the regulations of current weight loss foods are properly established $vis-{\grave{a}}-vis$ the market situation. However, misleading advertisements are prevalent for all regulated types: Type I (product quality and effect), Type II (endorsement and warranty), Type III (ways to use and safety), Type IV (comparison and superiority), and Type V (company information). Promotion targeting businesses, market monitoring and control are necessary to ensure that advertising regulations (which have existed only as an institution) can be appropriately applied. It is also confirmed that 'comparison advertising' (applicable to Type IV where consumer damages were not shown compared to other regulations) does not have an actual effect as a consumer protection regulation that should be considered in regulation revisions. Consumers also did not recognize Type III and V in the purchasing stage while consumer damages were demonstrated; consequently, this implies that consumers need to check and become attentive to these types.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyse brainstem auditory evoked potentials (BAEP) wave change data during microvascular decompression (MVD). The nerve function of Cranial Nerve VIII is at risk during MVD. Intraoperative monitoring of BAEP can be a useful tool to decrease the danger of hearing loss. Between January and December 2009, 242 patients had MVD for hemifacial spasm (HFS) and trigeminal neuralgia (TN). Among intraoperative BAEP changes, amplitude of V-V' was the most frequently observed during cerebellar retraction and decompression step of the MVD procedure. 138 patients (57%) had no BAEP change while 104 patients (42.98%) had BAEP change. 69 patients (28.5%) had Type A-I, 16 patients (6.6%) had Type A-II, 5 patients (2.1%) had Type B, and 13 patients (5.37%) had Type C. MVD is a surgical procedure to relieve the symptoms (e.g. pain, muscle twitching) caused by compression of a nerve by an artery or vein. During BAEP intraoperative monitoring, the surgical step is important in interpreting the changes of wave V. Several potential mechanisms of injury may affect the cochlear nerve, and complete loss of BAEP is often associated with postoperative hearing loss. Intraoperative BAEP monitoring may provide an early warning of hearing disturbance after MVD.

  • This study was attempted to investigate the pharmacokinetic interaction between sodium valproate (4, 8, 16 mg/kg, i.v.) and phenytoin (4 mg/kg, i.v.) in rabbits. The plasma concentration and area under the curve (AUC) of phenytoin were increased significantly (p<0.05, p<0.01) when coadministered with sodium valproate (4, 8, 16 mg/kg) in rabbits. The volume or distribution and total body clearance of phenytoin were decreased significantly (p<0.05, p<0.01) when coadministered with sodium valproate (8, 16 mg/kg) in rabbit. From the results of this experiment, it is desirable that dosage regimen of phenytoin should be adjusted and therapeutic drug monitoring should be performed for reduction of side or toxic effect when phenytoin will be coadministered with sodium valproate in clinical use.

  • I will describe the current progress within the Fifth Generation of SDSS. SDSS-V is an unprecedented all-sky spectroscopic survey of over six million objects. It is designed to decode the history of the Milky Way galaxy, trace the emergence of the chemical elements, reveal the inner workings of stars, and investigate the origin of planets. It will provide the most comprehensive all-sky spectroscopy to multiply the science from the Gaia, TESS and eROSITA missions. SDSS will also create a contiguous spectroscopic map of the interstellar gas in the Milky Way and nearby galaxies that is 1,000 times larger than the state of the art, uncovering the self-regulation mechanisms of galactic ecosystems. It will pioneer systematic, spectroscopic monitoring across the whole sky, revealing changes on timescales from 20 minutes to 20 years. I will highlight key areas of current scientific and technical development as well as opportunities to participate in the survey underway.

  • In this article, plasma monitoring tools and mulivariate analysis techniques were reviewed. Optical emission spectroscopy was reviewed for a chemical composition analysis tool and RF V-I probe for a physical analysis tool for plasma monitoring. Multivariate analysis techniques are discussed to the sensitivity improvement. Principal component analysis (PCA) is one of the widely adopted multivariate analysis techniques and its application to end-point detection of plasma etching process is discussed.

  • This study is objected to demonstrate the spatial variability of the ground-water recharge by classifying the types of ground-water hydrographs and assessing the recharge ratio(the ratio of the rise of ground-water level to cumulative precipitation) of each type using the National Ground-water Monitoring network data. A total of 5 types were identified by factor analysis on the ground-water hydrographs nationwide. The recharge ratio of each type were estimated to be 6.5% (TYPE I), 4.1 % (TYPE II), 9.2%(TYPE III), 5.8 %(TYPE IV), 15.3 %(TYPE V) in the confidence level of 95.44% and 6% variation was estimated site by site even in the same type. The recharges of Han, Nakdong, Keum, Youngsan·Seomjin river basins were estimated as 10.0 %, 6.1 %, 8.3 %. and 6.6 % respectively. These results were consistent with the results of the existing baseflow method.

  • A great deal of study for loss reduction of photovoltaic system is conducted currently. It is hard to distinct the fault of photovoltaic system with the naked eye. For that reason, it is essential to repair and maintain the PV system by monitoring the system. The fault of individual modules can cause the huge loss of the entire system because of the mismatch. Therefore, the method of diagnosing the PV array is necessary by measuring the multi-channel arrays simultaneously. In this paper, it is presented the method of measuring I-V curve of multi-channel arrays simultaneously by using the charge and discharge characteristics of capacitor. Generated DC power at PV arrays is charged and discharged at the capacitors in a moment. By measuring the charged voltage and current, it is possible to diagnose of performance of PV arrays.
