  • Quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSARs) on the pre-emergency herbicidal activity and reactivity of a series of new O,O-dialkyl-1-phenoxyacetoxy-1-methylphosphonates (S) analogues against seed of cucumber (Cucumus Sativa) were discussed quantitatively using 2D-QSAR and HQSAR methods. The statistical values of HQSAR model were better than that of 2D-QSAR model. From the frontier molecular orbital (FMO) interaction between substrate molecule (S) and $BH^+$ ion (I) in PDH enzyme, the electrophilic reaction was superior in reactivity. From the effect of substituents, $R_2$-groups in substrate molecule (S) contributed to electrophilic reaction with carbonyl oxygen atom while X, Y-groups contributed to nucleophilic reaction with carbonyl carbon atom. And the influence of X,Y-groups was more effective than that of $R_2$-groups. As a results of 2D-QSAR model (I & II) and atomic contribution maps with HQSAR model, the more length of X, Y-groups is longer, the more herbicidal activity tends to increased. And also, the optimal ${\epsilon}LUMO$ energy, $({\epsilon}LUMO)_{opt.}$=-0.479 (e.v.) of substrate molecule is important factor in determining the herbicidal activity. It is predicted that the herbicidal activity proceeds through a nucleophilic reaction. From the analytical results of 2D-QSAR and HQSAR model, it is suggested that the structural distinctions and descriptors that contribute to herbicidal activities will be able to applied new herbicide design.

  • The intelligent disk can improve the overall performance of the I/O subsystem by processing the I/O operations in the disk side. At present time, however, realizing the intelligent disk seems to be impossible because of the limitation of the I/O subsystem and the lack of the backward compatibility with the traditional I/O interface scheme. In this paper, we proposed new model for the intelligent disk that dynamically optimizes the I/O subsystem using the information that is only related to the physical sector. In this way, the proposed model does not break the compatibility with the traditional I/O interface scheme. For these works, the boosting algorithm that upgrades a weak learner by repeating teaming is used. If the last learner classifies a recent I/O workload as the multimedia workload, the disk reads more sectors. Also, by embedding this functionality as a firmware or a embedded OS within the disk, the overall I/O subsystem can be operated more efficiently without the additional workload.

  • The values of critical micelle concentration (CMC) and counter ion binding constants (B) in a micellar state of CPC (1-hexadecylpyridinium chloride) with Brij 35 (polyoxyethylene(23) lauryl ether) in water were determined as a function of ${\alpha}_1$ (the overall mole fraction of CPC) by the use of electric conductivity method. Various thermodynamic parameters ($X_i,\;{\gamma}_i,\;C_i,\;a_{i}^{M},\;\beta,\;and\;{\Delta}H_{mix}$) were calculated and analyzed by means of the equations derived from the non-ideal mixed micellar model. And thermodynamic parameters (${\Delta}{G^o}_m,\;{\Delta}{H^o}_m,\;and\;{\Delta}{S^o}_m$) for the micellization of CPC/Brij 35 mixtures were also calculated from the temperature dependence of the CMC values. The values of ${\Delta}{G^o}_m$ are all negative, but the values of ${\Delta}{S^o}_m$ and ${\Delta}{H^o}_m$ are positive or negative, depending on the measured temperature and ${\alpha}_1$.

  • In this paper, we propose a software design method that will track the effects of modifications in a component to the rest of the components in the design phase. The prediction of the effects due to the design modifications before coding can be a valuable aid for the complex and large software development. Within the method, the target system is represented by the structured I/O system level specification which is one of the system representation level defined by the system theory. Then it is abstracted to the I/O system level. The DEVS (Discrete Event System Specification) model is constructed based on tile I/O system level specification. Finally, the DEVS model is simulated to generate the behavior of the software by the abstract simulator in DEVS simulation environment. As an application, the graphic user interface system of a metal grating production scheduling system is presented.

  • In this paper, we present a set of methodologies to model the electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) testing of I/O buffers for mobile system memory based on the bulk current injection (BCI) method. An efficient equivalent circuit model is developed for the current injection probe, line impedance stabilization network (LISN), printed circuit board (PCB), and package. The simulation results show good correlation with the measurements and thus, the work presented here will enable electromagnetic susceptibility analysis at the integrated circuit (IC) design stage.

  • In this paper, we consider the design of $H_{\infty}$ control of linear discrete-time systems having no mathematical model. The basic approach is to use Q-learning which is a reinforcement learning method based on actor-critic structure. The model-free control design is to use not the mathematical model of the system but the informations on states and inputs. As a result, the derived iterative algorithm is expressed as linear matrix inequalities(LMI) of measured data from system states and inputs. It is shown that, for a sufficiently rich enough disturbance, this algorithm converges to the standard $H_{\infty}$ control solution obtained using the exact system model. A simple numerical example is given to show the usefulness of our result on practical application.

  • The problem of the optimization of fuzzy relational models for dealing with (non-fuzzy) numerical data is investigated. In this context, interfaces optimization assumes particular importance, becoming a determinant factor in what concerns the overall model performance. Considering this, several scenarios for building fuzzy relational models are presented. These are: (i) optimizing I/O interfaces in advance (independently from the linguistic part of the model); (ii) optimizing I/O interfaces in advance and allowing that their optimized parameters may change during the learning of the linguistic part of the model; (iii) build simultaneously both interfaces and the linguistic subsystem; and (iv) build simultaneously both linguistic subsystem and interfaces, now subject to semantic integrity constraints. As linguistic subsystems, both a basic type and an extended versions of fuzzy relation equations are exploited in each one of these scenarios. A comparative analysis of the differ nt approaches is summarized.
