In discriminant analysis the procedures commonly used to estimate the dimensionality involve testing a sequence of dimensionality hypotheses. There is a problem with the size of the test since dimensionality hypotheses are tested sequentially and thus they are actually conditional tests. The focus of this paper is to investigate in asymptotic sense what happens to the sequential testing procedure if the assumption of normality does not hold.

To understand and predict destination choice behavior for urban parks, two hypotheses, which are based on extended Fishbein model, were proposed and tested in Kwangju. Data was analyzed by the citizens of Kwangju and by target markets segmented by demographic variables. Analysis by the citizens of Kwangju showed that postulated hypotheses are true. However, they were partially thru in the other cases : it was a general tendency that suggested model applied well in the high-involvement product. Among the demographic variables, sex was the most useful to understand park choice behavior. Park management directions were suggested, and several future research implications were discussed.

In this paper, we consider the nonparametric Bayesian approach to the multiple comparisons problem for I Poisson populations using Dirichlet process priors. We describe Gibbs sampling algorithm for calculating posterior probabilities for the hypotheses and calculate posterior probabilities for the hypotheses using Markov chain Monte Carlo. Also we provide a numerical example to illustrate the developed numerical technique.

This study aims at developing some hypotheses on the politics of innovation in catching-up countries. Although innovation studies of catching-up countries have studied the process of acquisition of technological capabilities, the politics of innovation was not seriously considered in those studies. This study suggests a conceptual frame-works of the innovation politics and analyses the innovation process of mobile telecommunication system in Korea. Some hypotheses on the patterns and effects of innovation politics in catching-up countries are put forward.

The conventional management which had economic requirement such as productivity, competition, customer satisfaction, and return needs the environmental management in order to meet a change of the external situation such as the environmental requirement (such as resources reduction, pollution prevention, and waste reduction). However, there have been a few studies which try to investigate internal factor and to regard external factors as negative ones. This paper proposes the external factors are significant to the performance. Several hypotheses were developed regarding the relationships. Based on the collected data from 126 firms, the hypotheses were analyed with SPSS.

The objective of this paper is to develop an evaluation model for pilot informatization projects. There are relatively many researches on evaluation models for information systems. These previous researches, however, lack of comprehensive view of informatization Projects and pilot systems. We apply and test a hybrid evaluation model for to measure the success of pilot informatization projects. A user satisfaction model has been used and hypotheses are developed to find relationships of evaluation factors. The hypotheses have been tested with 51 user surveys. The result of this research can give an insight for the evaluation of pilot informatization projects.

Based on the principles described in Part I, we have implemented a working prototype vision system using a feature structure called an LSG (local surface group) for generating object hypotheses. In order to verify an object hypothesis, we estimate the view of the hypothesized model object and render the model object for the computed view. The object hypothesis is then verified by finding additional features in the scene that match those present in the rendered image. Experimental results on synthetic and real range images show the effectiveness of the indexing scheme.

In this paper, we consider the Bayesian hypotheses testing for independence in bivariate exponential model. In Bayesian testing problem, we use the noninformative priors for parameters which are improper and are defined only up to arbitrary constants. And we use the recently proposed hypotheses testing criterion called the fractional Bayes factor. Also we give some numerical results to illustrate our results.

We provide semilocal convergence theorems for Newton-like methods in Banach space using outer and generalized inverses. In contrast to earlier results we use hypotheses on the second instead of the first Frechet-derivative. This way our Newton-Kantorovich hypotheses differ from earlier ones. Our results can be used to solve undetermined systems, nonlinear least square problems and ill-posed nonlinear operator equations.
