Soeumin showed a tendency of Emotional anxiety and was sensitive to Cold. Sweating situation : Taeeumin showed a tendency of sweating a lot in many situations. Nervous was related to hyper-hidrosis in Taeeumin and Soeumin. Taeeumin and Soeumin showed a tendency of sweating at back in Normal group. In hyper-hidrosis group, Taeeumin and Soeumin showed a tendency of sweating at hand and foot and. Soyangin showed a tendency of sweating at foot.
The perineum is comprised of diverse anatomic structures with mixed sympathetic and somatic innervation. The coccyx is innervated by the coccygeal nerves and branches of the fifth sacral root. Recently, ganglion impar block has been introduced as an alternative means of managing intractable pain of sympathetic origin, coccygodynia by trauma, tenesmus and perineal hyperhydrosis. We managed a 59-year-old female patient who had suffered from perineal pain by metastasis of cervical cancer. Approach to impar ganglion through the anococcygeal ligament was impossible because her coccyx was hyperflexed anteriorly by old fracture. But we could perform ganglion impar block successfully by approach through the separation of sacrum and coccyx.
Objective: This study aimed to report the improvement of patients with hyperhidrosis treated using Gyejigajagyak-tang based on the Shanghanlun provisions. Methods: Two patients were diagnosed with Greater-yin disease based on the 279th provision of Shanghanlun, and Gyejigajagyak-tang was used to treat hyperhidrosis. The result was evaluated using the Hyperhidrosis Disease Severity Scale and Visual Analogue Scale. Results: An analysis of results of the two cases showed that the patients' conditions had improved. The amount of sweat produced was decreased in both cases. Conclusions: These results suggest that the medicines defined in Shanghanlun are clinically effective when Shanghanlun is properly interpreted, considering the origins of the Chinese characters in the text, and the Shanghanlun disease pattern identification diagnostic system is applied.

Botulinum toxin has been used for treating strabismus, blepharospasm, cerebral palsy, cervical dystonia, hyperhydrosis, facial wrinkle and chronic migraine under US Food and Drug administration approval. Also it has been tried spasticity-induced pain, post-herpetic neuralgia, myofascial pain and aphthous ulcer as off-label use. In this study, we reviewed recent studies that suggested effects of botulinum toxin on snoring and sleep apnea.
Backgrouds: Twent five years have passed since the opening of the first pain clinic in korea, in 1973 at Yonsei University Hospital. The number of pain clinics are gradually increasing in recent times. It is important to plan for future pain clinics with emphasis on improving the quality of pain management. Therefore we reviewed the patients in our hospital to help us in planning for the future of our pain clinic. Methods: We analyzed 2656 patients who had visited our Kim Chan Pain Clinic, accordance to age, sex, disease, and type of treatment block, from July 1996 to August 1997. Results: The prevalent age group was in the fifties, 27.3%, seventy years and older compromised 9.2%. The most common disease were as follows: lower back pain(46.2%); cervical and upper extremities pain(23.1%); trigeminal neuralgia(7.2%); and hyperhydrosis(5.8%) Both nerve blocks and medication were prescribed as treatment. Lumbar epidural block(16.3%) and stellate ganglion block(15.6%) were the most frequent blocks performed among various nerve blocks. Among nerve block under C-arm guidance, lumbar facet joint block(24.4%) and lumbar root block(22.5%) were performed most frequently. Trigeminal nerve block(18.4%), thoracic(17.0%) and lumbar sympathetic ganglion block(11.4%) were next most prevalent blocks performed frequent block. Conclusions: Treatments at our hospital were focused on nerve blocks and medications prescriptions. Nerve blocks are of particular importance in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain. However in future, to raise the quality of pain management, we need to fucus on a multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary team approach.
Background: Video-assisted thoracic sympathicotomy plays an important for the treatment of essential hyperhidrosis. Patients are usually satisfied with the surgical outcome at the early post-operative period, but suffer recurrence and compensatory sweating in the late post-operative period. There are many sympathicotomy methods to minimize recurrence and compensatory sweating. We compared the outcome of sympathicotomy methods above the third rib (R3) and the fourth rib (R4) with regards to symptoms, satisfaction, recurrence, and compensatory palmar and axillary hyperhydrosis. Materials and Methods: From January 1999 to April 2009, 39 cases of thoracoscopic sympathicotomy at the third rib (R3), and 94 cases of thoracoscopic sympathicotomy at the fourth rib (R4) for palmar and axillary hyperhidrosis were compared for early and late post-operative satisfaction, compensatory sweating and recurrence. Results: There was no sex or age difference between groups. Early satisfaction was 94.9% and 98.9% in the R3 group and R4 group, respectively. There was no difference in early satisfaction (94.9% in R3 and 98.9% in R4), late satisfaction (84.6% in R3 and 89.4% in R4), or recurrence (17.9% in R3 and 17.0% in R4) between groups. There was significant difference in compensatory sweating (71.8% in R3 and 33% in R4, p=0.002). Conclusion: R4 sympathicotomy demonstrated superior efficacy in the treatment of compensatory sweating compared to R3 in palmar and/or axillary hyperhidrosis.
Background : Oxygen concentrators are convenient to operate and economical for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, oxygen concentrators are not manufactured domestically and the COPD patients are currently treated with imported oxygen concentrators. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of domestically developed prototype oxygen concentrator before clinical application, the efficacy and safety of the domestic oxygen concentrator were evaluate by comparing with the imported one. Material and Methods : The clinical tests were performed on 36 hyperhydrosis patients from April 1999 to August 1999. Domestic and imported oxygen concentrators were in turn applied to the same patient, who inspired oxygen for 60 minutes at a rate of 3 liters per minute through nasal prong. The oxygen concentrator, which was applied first, was randomly allocated. The arterial partial oxygen pressure ($PaO_2$) was estimated to compare the efficacy; and the carboxy hemoglobin(COHb), pH, arterial $CO_2$ partial pressure, pulse rate, blood pressure, and respiration rate to compare the safety before and after applying each oxygen concentrator. A student t-test was used to analyze the results. Result : In respect to efficacy, the difference in the change of $PaO_2$ before and after the application between two concentrators was not statistically significant. In respect to safety, the differences in the changes of COHb, pH, partial pressure of arterial $CO_2$, pulse rate, blood pressure, respiration rate between two concentrators were also not statistically significant. Conclusion : The domestically developed oxygen concentrator, showed satisfactory efficacy and safety when compared with the imported one.
We have experienced 2 patients who underwent retroperitoneal endoscopic lumbar sympathectomy(RELS) for bilateral plantar hyperhidrosis. They had underwent thoracic sympathectomy by thoracoscopy 20 months and 1 month ago, respectively. The first patient had to be converted to the open procedure due to pneumoperitonium and she was reoperated due to continous sweating by the incomplete sympathectomy on right side. At follow-up after 70 and 30 days postoperatively, RELS results were graded as excellent, good, fair, or poor. The first patient was very satisfied as "Excellent" and the second was slightly less satisfied as "Good" with compensatory hyperhidrosis at perianal area. This RELS is a feasible procedure to plantar hyperhydrosis patients with less pain, minimal scar, short period of convalescence, and short hospital stay.short hospital stay.
Objectives : Essential hyperhidrosis is a socially and occupationally disabling disorder. There are many suggestions that hyperhidrosis is associated with the autonomic nervous system, especiallythe sympathetic system. This study was designed to investigate the autonomic nerve system in patients with essential hyperhidrosis and healthy controls by the frequency domain analysis of heart rate variability (HRV). Methods : 17 head-hyperhidrosis patients in the ambulatory care were investigated. All were inspected at the first medical examination. using the PSA of HRV. HRV was measured for minutes after 5 minutes bed rest. We checked the frequency domain analysis of HRV (i.e. TP, VLF, LF, HF) which were transformed into natural logarithm of patients against the standard measures of the HRV components. Then we compared the values of patients with means of normal Korean subjects. Results : The values of natural logarithmic measure of HRV (LnTP, LnHF, LnLF, LnVLF) of patients With head-hyperhidrosis we examined were $6.85{\pm}1.61$, $4.93{\pm}$2.00, $5.40{\pm}1.83$, and $6.13{\pm}1.37$, respectively. None of these values were higher than means of normal subjects. Conclusions : This study suggests that the function of the autonomic nervous system does not increase in patients with head-hyperhidrosis.
Objectives : Essential hyperhidrosis is a socially and occupationally disabling disorder. There are many suggestions that hyperhidrosis is associated with the autonomic nervous system. This study was designed to investigate the autonomic nerve system the patients with hyperhidrosis. Methods : 348 palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis patients and 20 systemic hyperhidrosis patients in the ambulatory care were investigated. All patients were inspected at the first medical examination, using the PSA of HRV. HRV was measured for 5 minutes after 5 minutes' bed rest. We checked the frequency domain analysis of HRV (i.e. TP, VLF, LF, HF and LF/HF) which were transformed into natural logarithm of patients against the standard measures of the HRV components. Then, we compared the means of patients with means and highest values of in the normal range of Koreans 1) between the patients with palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis and the healthy controls and 2) between the patients with the systemic hyperhidrosis and healthy controls, by the frequency domain analysis of heart rate variability (HRV), respectively. We then compared the results between 1) and 2). Results : The values of natural logarithmic measures of LF/HF ratio in the patients with palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis we examined were significantly higher than the values of healthy controls, but those in the patients with systemic hyperhidrosis were not higher. Conclusion : This study suggests that the autonomic nervous function did not simply increase but that the balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous function did matter in patients with palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis. This balance included that the sympathetic nervous function aggravated comparatively with parasympathetic nervous function. On the other hand, we couldn't find any significance of the patients with the systemic hyperhidrosis as for the autonomic nervous function.
