Inhibition of nitric oxide and TNF-$\alpha$ production by propenone compound through blockaded of NF-$\kappa$B activation in cultured murine macrophages

  • Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated macrophages produced a large amounts of nitric oxide (NO) by inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). This is an important mechanism in macrophages-induced septic shock and inflammation. In the present study, we tested a synthetic propenone compound, l-furan-2-yl-3-pyridin-2-yl-propenone (FPP-3) for its ability to inhibit the production of tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-$\alpha$) and an inducible enzyme, iNOS, in the LPS-stimulated murine macrophage-like cell line, Raw264.7. FPP-3 consistently inhibited nitric oxide (NO) and TNF-$\alpha$ production in a dose dependent manner, with $IC_50$> values of 10.0 and 13.1 $\mu$M, respectively. (omitted)

  • A simple, specific and sensitive method for the determination of methyltestosterone (MT) in human serum has been developed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry with the purpose of conducting pharmacokinetic and bioequivalence studies of MT. This method involves the use of liquid-liquid extraction with diethyl ether and derivatization with MSTFA, using 1 ml of serum obtained from volunteers orally taken 50 mg MT. MT showed good resolutions in this conditions and no significant interfering peaks were observed. (omitted)

  • The therapeutic use of protein pharmaceuticals produced by recombinant DNA technology is increasing in recent decades. In order to investigate the quality of recombinant proteins, it is important to identify and assign the impurities produced in the process of recombination or in storage conditions. Capillary Electrophoresis is emerging technology exhibiting high sensitivity, selectivity and speed and may be most powerful tools for this application. In this study, human growth hormone (hGH) has been analyzed by various mode of capillary electrophoresis such as capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE), capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE), and capillary isoelectric focusing (cIEF) to indicate the chemically or biologically oriented variants and the degraded fragments.   • Superficial angiomyxoma (SA) is a rare, benign, cutaneous soft tissue tumor. It is composed of myxoid matrix and blood vessels. Herein, we report a case of a solitary SA on the posterior neck of a 6-year-old boy. An analysis of the biopsied specimen showed a prominent myxoid stroma with thin-walled, branching blood vessels, revealing the presence of an SA. SA especially that originating in the posterior neck, is rarely seen and should be considered as a differential diagnosis for a solitary mass in the posterior neck.

  • This study explored the trends of Genomics & Informatics during the period of 2003-2018 in comparison with 11 other scholarly journals: BMC Bioinformatics, Algorithms for Molecular Biology: AMB, BMC Systems Biology, Journal of Computational Biology, Briefings in Bioinformatics, BMC Genomics, Nucleic Acids Research, American Journal of Human Genetics, Oncogenesis, Disease Markers, and Microarrays. In total, 22,423 research articles were reviewed. Content analysis was the main method employed in the current research. The results were interpreted using descriptive analysis, a clustering analysis, word embedding, and deep learning techniques. Trends are discussed for the 12 journals, both individually and collectively. This is an extension of our previous study (PMCID: PMC6808643).

Recent Trends in the Incidence of Salivary Gland Malignancies (침샘 악성종양의 발생에 대한 최신 경향)

  • Due to the low incidence and histologic diversity of salivary gland cancer, analyzing the incidence of salivary gland cancer is necessary to understand the macroscopic aspects. We intend to investigate the international trend of the reported incidence rate of salivary gland cancer. Using the Korea Central Cancer Registry data, the domestic change in the incidence rate was examined. As a result, a significant increasing trend was confirmed, consistent with the United States and Japan trends. The etiology of the change is unclear, and various factors that may influence the direction are reported. Additional research is needed to understand the pathophysiology of salivary gland cancer, and further efforts are required to understand salivary gland cancer.

  • 정보시스템의 취약성을 사전에 예방하고 보안을 강화하기 위해 여러 가지 방안이 제시되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 소프트웨어의 소스코드 수준에서의 보안성을 확보하기 위해 소스코드 자체의 보안 위험성을 검사하는 도구를 제안한다. 개발자에 의해 무심코 사용되는 위험 함수들을 검출하고 그 대안을 제시하여 소프트웨어 내부에 잠재되는 보안 위협을 예방하는 도구를 개발하고자 한다.

  • Web 2.0 시대가 도래하면서부터 새로운 소프트웨어 배포 방식인 SaaS가 등장하였다. 보안 분야에서도 기존의 소프트웨어적인 보안 방식이 아닌 하드웨어적인 보안 방식을 위해 TPM이라는 보안 칩이 개발되었다. 본 논문에서는 TPM 칩을 사용하여 보다 신뢰적인 측면이 강조된 신뢰 컴퓨팅 기반 SaaS 모델을 설계하고, 설계된 모델의 가장 기본적인 기능인 로컬 PC 레벨의 PCR 값 인증 프로그램과 로컬 PC 레벨 어플리케이션 무결성 측정 프로그램을 구현하고 이를 평가한다.

  • 프로그램 신뢰성을 높이기 위한 방법 중 하나로 쓰이는 것이 명세 된 언어의 검증이다. 명세 된 언어를 검증하기 위해 소스 프로그램을 논리식으로 바꾸어 검증하는 방법을 사용한다. 소스 프로그램 뿐만 아니라 바이트코드 역시 프로그램 신뢰성을 높이기 위해서 검증이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 바이트 코드의 검증을 위해 바이트코드의 정보를 가지고 있는 중간언어의 verification condition을 생성하는 방법을 보인다.

  • 최근 많은 연구가 되고 있는 오피니언 마이닝은 의견어 사전의 구축이 가장 기본적으로 선행되어야 하는 연구이다. 오피니언 마이닝의 의견어 사전 구축 연구는 영어를 중심으로 많은 연구가 진행 되었다. 하지만 형용사 위주의 의견어 사전 구축으로 많은 부분의 문제들이 해결되는 영어에 비해서 한국어는 여러 가지 품사와 문장구조를 고려하여 의견어 사전을 구축해야한다. 이것을 실험으로 밝히기 위하여 형용사로만 구성되어진 의견어 사전을 구축하고 영화평에 적용하여 분석해 봄으로써 형용사로만 구성되어진 의견어 사전의 한계점을 확인한다. 실험은 세종계획 말뭉치에서 나타나는 형용사로 구성된 의견어 사전을 구축하고 네이버 랩에서 제공하는 영화평을 형용사로 구성된 의견어 사전으로 의견 분석하여 시행하였다. 분석 결과 재현율 약 50%, 정확률 약 60%정도의 성능을 보였다.
