In order to analyze the effect of the chemical structure and the cetane number of reformed diesel fuels by ultrasonic energy irradiation, proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer$(^1H-NMR)$ was used. From the study, following conclusive remarks can be made. 1) Branch Index(BI), aromatics percentages, and alpha methyl radical$(H_{\alpha})$ of the reformed diesel fuels by ultrasonic energy irradiation decreased more than the conventional ones. 2) All the cetane numbers which were calculated from carbon type structure and hydrogen type distribution of the reformed diesel fuels increased more than the conventional ones. 3) It is more reasonable to predict cetane number equation from carbon type structure than from hydrogen type distribution. 4) BI, aromatics percentages, and $H_{\alpha}$ on both for conventional fuel and reformed diesel fuels by ultrasonic energy irradiation are inversely proportional to cetane number fur these fuels.
We have deposited hydrogen-free diamond-like carbon (DLC) films by pulsed laser deposition of graphite. Pulsed laser deposition (PLD) can be utilized to generate films with desired properties quite different from those of the starting material. Since DLC films grown by PLD using turbo pump are perpared without hydrogen, they have a higher density and a higher index of refraction than the hydrogenated DLC films. In this study, effects of the substrate temperature and laser energy density on the properties of DLC films were systematically investigated. The structure and properties of the films have been studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopy.

Background and Objectives: This study aims to clarify the systems underlying regulation and regulatory roles of hydrogen combined with 5-Aza in the myogenic differentiation of adipose mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs). Methods and Results: In this study, ADSCs acted as an in vitro myogenic differentiating mode. First, the Alamar blue Staining and mitochondrial tracer technique were used to verify whether hydrogen combined with 5-Aza could promote cell proliferation. In addition, this study assessed myogenic differentiating markers (e.g., Myogenin, Mhc and Myod protein expressions) based on the Western blotting assay, analysis on cellular morphological characteristics (e.g., Myotube number, length, diameter and maturation index), RT-PCR (Myod, Myogenin and Mhc mRNA expression) and Immunofluorescence analysis (Desmin, Myosin and 𝛽-actin protein expression). Finally, to verify the mechanism of myogenic differentiation of hydrogen-bound 5-Aza, we performed bioinformatics analysis and Western blot to detect the expression of p-P38 protein. Hydrogen combined with 5-Aza significantly enhanced the proliferation and myogenic differentiation of ADSCs in vitro by increasing the number of single-cell mitochondria and upregulating the expression of myogenic biomarkers such as Myod, Mhc and myotube formation. The expressions of p-P38 was up-regulated by hydrogen combined with 5-Aza. The differentiating ability was suppressed when the cells were cultivated in combination with SB203580 (p38 MAPK signal pathway inhibitor). Conclusions: Hydrogen alleviates the cytotoxicity of 5-Aza and synergistically promotes the myogenic differentiation capacity of adipose stem cells via the p38 MAPK pathway. Thus, the mentioned results present insights into myogenic differentiation and are likely to generate one potential alternative strategy for skeletal muscle related diseases.
In this study, we have performed several tests for composite plastic materials to be applied on interior materials of a vehicle to identify their combustion characteristics using cone calorimeter, smoke density chamber and toxicity index chamber. We have prepared a total of 12 samples for 4 major parts of a vehicle wherein each major part has 3 different materials. The results of cone calorimeter test showed ignition time of PVC sheet and PVC leather were 2s. The 8 samples showed under less than 10s of ignition time. The sample comprising Nylon and PE had the biggest maximum heat release rate of 635 $kW/m^2$. The sample comprising Rubber showed the smallest maximum heat release rate but with the biggest total heat release. The results of smoke density chamber test showed the sample that is made up with Rubber had the biggest specific optical smoke density. The sample comprising PVC leather and PUR showed the biggest VOF4 which enables the initial smoke production. The results of toxicity index test showed that all samples contained carbon dioxide content exceeding its lethal concentration. The sample comprising PVC showed high content of hydrogen chloride and hydrogen bromide. The PVC sheet showed the biggest toxicity index calculated by using lethal concentration and test results. Toxicity index of all sample wes over 1.
A high molecular weight natural sodium alginate (HMWSAs) was depolymerized by hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$) with ultrasonic irradiation. The effects of the reaction conditions such as reaction temperature, reaction time, hydrogen peroxide concentration and ultrasonic irradiation time on the molecular weights and the end groups of the depolymerized alginates were investigated. It was revealed that depolymerization occurred through the breakage of 1,4-glycosidic bonds of sodium alginate and the formation of formate groups on the main chain under certain conditions. The changes in molecular weight were monitored by GPC-MALS. The molecular weight of 2 wt% alginate solution decreased from 450 to 15.9 kDa for 0.5 hrs at 50 $^{\circ}C$ under an appropriate ultrasonic irradiation. The PDI(polydispersity index)s of the alginate depolymerized in this study were considerably narrow in comparison with those obtained from the other chemical degradation method. The PDIs were in the range of 1.5~2.5 in any reaction conditions employed in this study.
Surface sediments in the mouth area of Jinhae Bay were investigated to evaluate the benthic environment in terms of geochemical criteria and macrobenthos abundance. Characteristics of the surface sediment distribution exhibited muddy sediments in the most part of study area. Some mixed sediments of coarse sand and mud were distributed along the coastal area of Geoje Island and around the Jeo Islands. Organic matter from ignition loss and total organic carbon from CHNS varied between $8.8-1.7\%,\;and\;4.62-0.77\%,$ respectively. The source of organic matter based on the C/S ratio was mixed with in situ biogenic and terrigenous organic matter. The C/S ratio of organic matter also suggested both an anoxic bottom condition in several parts of the study area. The content of hydrogen sulfide in surface sediment was extremely variable and showed spatio-temporal variation from site to site. In several locations, the content of hydrogen sulfide as an index of eutrophication was over the critical value (0.2 mg/g), suggesting that several parts of the study area were not favorable for the habitat of macrobenthos. The relationship among the number of individuals of marcrobenthos, hydrogen sulfide, and organic matter was not clear, but a potential negative relationship between individuals of marcrobenthos and hydrogen sulfide was indicated.

This study was conducted to investigate the hepatoprotective effects of 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid (3,5-DCQA) isolated from Ligularia fischeri against hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress in HepG2 cells. Antioxidative effects of 3,5-DCQA were determined by measuring antioxidant enzyme [superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) glutathione peroxidase (GPx)] expression levels against hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress using real-time PCR analysis. 3,5-DCQA treatment significantly increased gene expression levels of SOD, CAT, and GPx in a dose-dependent manner ($10{\sim}30{\mu}g/mL$) in HepG2 cells. Hepatoprotective effects were analyzed by measuring glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) activities using a biochemistry analyzer in hydrogen peroxide-treated HepG2 cells. 3,5-DCQA treatment significantly reduced GOT, LDH, and GGT activities in a dose-dependent manner ($10{\sim}30{\mu}g/mL$) against increased liver function index enzyme activities induced by hydrogen peroxide oxidative stress in HepG2 cells. The results reveal that 3,5-DCQA compound isolated from Ligularia fischeri can be useful for the development of an effective hepatoprotective agent.
Numerical simulations of unsteady opposed-flow flames are performed using an adaptive time integration method designed for differential-algebraic systems. The compressibility effect is considered in deriving the system of equations, such that the numerical difficulties associated with a high-index system are alleviated. The numerical method is implemented for systems with detailed chemical mechanisms and transport properties by utilizing the Chemkin software. Two test simulations are performeds hydrogen/air diffusion flames with an oscillatory strain rate and transient ignition of methane against heated air. Both results show that the rapid transient behavior is successfully captured by the numerical method.
We fabricated sampled fiber grating by double-exposure method. First, a short-period grating was written into the hydrogen-loaded single mode fiber and then the refractive index was modulated over it by an amplitude mask. It was observed that several transmission dips appear due to the index modulation. The thermal and strain responses were measured over $40-180^{\circ}C$ and $0-1800\mu\varepsilon,$ respectively. The dips have the same and linear sensitivity to both physical quantities over the range of measurement.
The general property of plastic ophthalmic lens has been reviewed by the optical property and polymer structure. A PMMA which is synthesized by the polymerization of monomers of two or more kinds is termed a copolymer, and the main chain composes a skeleton of molecular structure in the polymer. Refraction index of polymer was governed mainly by the polarization of molecular and was followed to increase it conspicuously as Cl, Br, and Iodine was substitude to hydrogen. Thermal dependence of refraction index of polymer show that the higher distinctive characteristic than glass material.
