  • In this paper, the development of a vibration reduction device for hydraulic breakers was studied. Generally, a hydraulic breaker generates shock vibrations while working. When using vibration-proof rubber, shock vibrations are reduced, but without this, shock vibrations are repeatedly generated. Such repeated shock vibrations not only lower the fatigue strength of hydraulic breakers and excavators equipped with them but also increase the fatigue of the workers. This paper proposes the possibility of reducing shock vibration by using a dynamic vibration absorber.

  • The power plants use turbine output control devices to supply or shut off steam to high pressure and low-pressure steam turbines connected to generators. This turbine output control device is driven by a hydraulic servo actuator. The gas flows into the hydraulic servo actuator during periodic inspection or normal operation, and the resulting adiabatic compression of the gas raises the internal temperature of the actuator to $500^{\circ}C$. This temperature increase causes the seals to burn and show wear and tear, resulting in failure. In this study, an air vent valve was installed to allow gas inside the hydraulic servo actuator to flow large quantities of air at the beginning of the operation and after the periodic inspection. Gas was passed through for only minute flow during normal operation of the power plant. By applying the air vent valve, it improves the reliability of the hydraulic servo actuator by discharge the gas appropriately to improve the life of the seal.

  • In this paper, the development of a manually and continuously variable impact force control mechanism for hydraulic breakers was studied. Generally, a hydraulic breaker has one or two piston strokes. Hydraulic breakers, which have two strokes, have two valve-switching ports and make short and long piston strokes. The piston stroke valve controls the piston stroke by opening and closing a short stroke-switching port. The short piston stroke mode is used to break soft rock, concrete, or asphalt. This stroke control valve system is not popular for small hydraulic breakers mounted on 1 to 14-ton excavators. To preserve the carrier-like excavator, proper breaking force is needed, and it can be easily controlled by multiple piston stroke control valves. The easiest way to control these breakers is to use several switching ports and valves but they are not easy to install in small hydraulic breakers and are expensive. To use only one switching port and valve, a method can be used to change the open area of the switching port to delay valve switching. This method provides multiple piston strokes.

  • In recent, the using of the hydraulic filling method has increased on the underground reinforcement of the abandoned mine in Korea, however it is the lack of research on the efficient filling method. In this study, tank model tests and field tests were conducted for development of tip device for filling efficiency improvements on the hydraulic filling method. In tank model experiments, the filling efficiency was evaluated according to the form and angle of the nozzle on tip device in the same condition. Then tip device model designed by tank model tests was applied to the field experiment. As a result, the amount of filling of nozzle $90^{\circ}$ tube is increased by approximately 18% compared to the common vertical injection pipe. The angle of repose was $30.82^{\circ}$. Filling hole spacing in the field is usually designed from 5m up to 10m assumed to be $40^{\circ}$ of the angle of repose. According to the results of this study, it is possible that the filling hole spacing expands at least 10m up to 15m applied to be $30^{\circ}{\sim}35^{\circ}$ of the angle of repose. Therefore, it is expected to be economical and efficient mine filling.

  • Hydraulic systems are widely used as a power transfer and/or power control system due to its flexibility, controllability, accuracy and high power density. Valve controlled and/or pump capacity controlled systems are normally adopted as a control device, but nowadays pump speed controlled systems are emerging as a new energy-efficient hydraulic control system. In this paper the pump speed controlled system for the cylinder position control of a counter balance circuit is investigated by simulation study and position control experiments were carried out. As a result, the possibility and efficiency of the pump speed controlled system were verified.

  • Some simple devices to demonstrate important hydraulic principles to students are necessitated in fluid mechanics or hydraulics classes. These devices should\ulcorner be easy to make and operate with inexpensive cost. The writer has studied some simple demonstrhation apparatus of hydraulic principles which were made with cheap materials. The purpose of this paper is to present the results of the study. In this paper, hydraulic principles that can be demonstrated by using these apparatus are described, the plans of them are presented, and how to make them and what materiaIs to be used are briefly explained. An axial-flow fan is a device with which the flow of air is supplied for several purposes. It consists of a duct, a fan and a guide vane. It may be possible to demonstrate the principles of propeIler, drag force, lift, etc.

  • The ESP (Electronic Stability Program) is an active control system that controls the posture of the vehicle by sensing the unstable state of the vehicle during braking, driving, or turning. The system works if the vehicle becomes unstable and it is very dangerous to develop it in the actual vehicle. For this reason, many studies have been carried out on the method of developing with simulation such as SIL / EIL. Some advanced companies have already applied it to the product development process. In this study, ESP hydraulic system and braking device model were constructed using SimulationX to build ESP SIL / EIL model. The hydraulic system model was constructed using the actual design parameters and the performance of the hydraulic model was verified by comparing with the actual vehicle test.

  • The program on thermal-hydraulic evaluation by testing and analysis (THETA) for the development and licensing of the new design features in the APR1400 (Advanced Power Reactor-1400) is briefly introduced with a presentation on the research motivation and typical results of the separate effect tests and analyses of the major design features. The first part deals with multi-dimensional phenomena related to the safety analysis of the APR1400. One research area is related to the multidimensional behavior of the safety injection (SI) water in a reactor pressure vessel downcomer that uses a direct vessel injection type of SI system. The other area is associated with the condensation of steam jets and the resultant thermal mixing in a water pool; these phenomena are relevant to the depressurization of a reactor coolant system (RCS). The second part describes our efforts to develop new components for safety enhancements, such as a fluidic device as a passive SI flow controller and a sparger to depressurize the RCS. This work contributes to an understanding of the new thermal-hydraulic phenomena that are relevant to advanced reactor system designs; it also improves the prediction capabilities of analysis tools for multi-dimensional flow behavior, especially in complicated geometries.

  • Almost 70% of the earth is covered by the ocean. Extracting the power available in the ocean using a wave energy converter has been seen to be eco-friendly and renewable. This study focuses on developing a method for analyzing a wave energy device that uses a cross-flow turbine. The motion of the ocean wave causes an internal bi-directional flow of water and the cross-flow turbine is able to rotate in one direction. This device is considered of double-hull structure, and because of this structure, sea water does not come into contact with theturbine. Due to this, the problem of befouling on the turbine is avoided. This study shows specific relationship for wave length and several motions.

This study, for development of positive displacement flow-meter, consist of PIC(Peripheral Interface Controller) controller with MR(Magneto-resistive) sensors. This flow-meter is used valve position indicator for valve control system by hydraulic. The MR sensors are used for the rotation of OVAL gear that detecting device. In the ship environments, consideration that necessary explosive proof. Thus electro device or electro flow-meter needs explosion design for electric circuit. We designed noncontact type flow-meter and evaluated the safety and measuring abilities.
