  • This paper proposes a Truncated Type-II Hybrid ARQ scheme using an adaptive modulation system to achieve high throughput data transmission systems for DS-CDMA cellular mobile communication systems. In this paper, the adaptive modulation system analyzed in Nakagami (m-distribution) fading channel environment. The adaptive modulation system controls the modulation level and symbol rate according to the Nakagami fading parameter( m). When the received Eb/No is high or the Nakagami fading parameter m is high, the propose system selects higher modulation level and higher symbol rate to increase throughput. On the other hand, this system selects lower modulation level and lower symbol rate to prevent throughput performance degradation when the received Eb/No is low. The modulation method have been adopted QPSK 16QAM, 64QAM, 256QAM. Therefore, adaptive modulation systems with Truncated Type II Hybrid ARQ Scheme is proper for mobile and radio data communication system that require high reliability and delay-limited applications.

  • We cultivated 117 hybrid strains of Lentinula edodes in greenhouse. 5 hybrid strains(07-55, 07-66, 07-84, 07-93 and 07-117) were selected from comparison of their characteristics of fruiting body and productivity. Biological efficiency of 5 hybrid strains was investigated 36.1(07-66), 35.6(07-117), 27.1(07-93), 25.7(07-84) and 6.5%(07-55), respectively. Selected strains 07-66, 07-117 and 07-93 showed high biological efficiency but observed commercially low quality fruiting body. Temperature type of fruiting body of 5 hybrid strains observed as follows high temperature type(07-117), mid temperature type(07-66 and 07-84) and low temperature type(07-55 and 07-93). Temperature type of fruiting body of 07-93 strain has wide range relatively. In the results, 07-84 strain was selected finally with consideration for quality of fruiting body, productivity and temperature type($8-21^{\circ}C$) in farm test.

  • In this paper, a theoretical weight-reduction method was suggested to substitute an underframe material of a box-type bodyshell having cut-outs with an alternative light-weight material. To utilize the material substitution method previously developed for a box-type hybrid bodyshell not having cut-outs, we derived a box-type baseline model without cut-outs which is similar to the stiffness condition of a box-type bodyshell having cut-outs. To do this, the thicknesses of roof and walls of the baseline model were determined such that the deflection of the baseline model under a distributed vertical load condition is equal to the sum of the theoretical section deflections of the original box model with cut-outs. Next, to derive a hybrid bodyshell by under-frame material substitution, the material substitution method for a box-type hybrid bodyshell without cut-outs was applied to the box-type baseline model. Finally, we compared the FE simulation results of the derived hybrid bodyshells having cut-outs for various materials with the theoretical results of the suggested method, and we obtained their good correlations.

  • The study is conducted on the subject of optimization of components sizing for series hybrid electric propulsion systems. The components sizing of series type hybrid system is very important because each component of series type is larger than the corresponding component of the parallel type or series-parallel type. If the components sizing is greater or less than what is required to this system, the performance of the system is getting worse. The methodology for the sizing of a driving motor is introduced based on the foundation of determined system configuration and performance target. And the sizing of an engine/generator and a battery is achieved based on simulation results using Dynamic Programming. It is possible to find the optimal sizing of these components by comparing fuel efficiency of hybrid electric propulsion system for 8 driving cycles.

  • UDs were synthesized from two different polyols(PTMG, PBEAG), ionic chain extender(DMPA), EDA with $H_{12}-MDI$. PU/PMMA hybrids were prepared with free radical polymerization of MMA monomer in MMA-swelled PUD. PUD particle size and film properties were investigated ionic content and polyol type. Mechanical and thermal properties of PU/PMMA hybrid film were studied in terms of PU's ionic content and the venation of PU/PMMA compositions. As DMPA content increased from 2wt% to 10wt% in PUD, particle size of PUD decreased. PUD's particle size with ester type polyol was found to be smaller then ether type polyol used. Phase separation between hard segment(HS) and soft segment(SS) with ionic contents in PU was shown by the thermal, mechanical property measurement. Although the composition of MMA was changed from 0 to 40 wt% in PU/PMMA hybrid, the particle size of the hybrid did not increase. Using the ester type polyol, tensile strength of hybrid was found to increase by 2wt% - 6wt% DPMA content, but as higher content the strength of hybrid decreased. Moreover with the ether type polyol, tensile strength of hybrid was observed to increase by 2wt% - 4wt% DMPA content, while decreasing at higher content. PU and PMMA polymer molecule being mixed in molecular level was confirmed from the pattern of $T_g$ in DSC thermogram.

  • The Carbon fiber epoxy composite material and aluminum have many advantages about higher specific stiffness and good fatigue characteristics. basically, the propeller shaft of automobile must satisfy high natural frequency more than 9,200 rpm to satisfy high number of rotation and high torsion torque more than 2,700Nm. In these reason, studied natural frequency and torsion torque characteristics of shaft according to parameter variations with the outdiameter and thickness. From the torsion tester and natural frequency experiments FE analyses was compared vibration and torque characteristics of hybrid shaft Designed hybrid shaft was experimented through FFT analyzer and torsion tester each and satisfied that hybrid shaft reverence 60mm and thickness 5mm by a these experiment is most suitable. Therefore, that can manufacture existent steel two piece type propeller shaft to one piece type hybrid shaft.

  • New insights into our previously proposed hybrid-type method for vibration control are highlighted in terms of energy analysis, such as the assessment of energy efficiency and system stability. The hybrid method improves the bang-bang active method by combining it with an energy-recycling approach. Its simple configuration and low energy-consumption property are quite suitable especially for isolated structures whose energy sources are strictly limited. The harmful influence of the external voltage is assessed, as well as its beneficial performance. We show a new chattering prevention approach that both harvests electrical energy from piezoelectric actuators and eliminates the displacement-offset of the equilibrium point of structures. The amount of energy consumption of the hybrid system is assessed qualitatively and is compared with other control systems. Experiments and numerical simulations conducted on a 10-bay truss can provide a thorough energy-efficiency evaluation of the hybrid suppression system having our energy-harvesting system.

  • Many articles have considered a hybrid censoring scheme, which is a mixture of Type-I and Type-II censoring schemes. We introduce a double hybrid censoring scheme and derive some approximate maximum likelihood estimators(AMLEs) of the scale parameter for the half logistic distribution under the proposed double hybrid censored samples. The scale parameter is estimated by approximate maximum likelihood estimation method using two different Taylor series expansion types. We also obtain the maximum likelihood estimator(MLE) and the least square estimator(LSE) of the scale parameter under the proposed double hybrid censored samples. We compare the proposed estimators in the sense of the mean squared error. The simulation procedure is repeated 10,000 times for the sample size n = 20(10)40 and various censored samples. The performances of the AMLEs and MLE are very similar in all aspects but the MLE and LSE have not a closed-form expression, some numerical method must be employed.

  • In this study, a sweep gas - vacuum hybrid type membrane degassing process was proposed for ammonia wastewater treatment. In addition, the ammonia selective recovery of the hybrid type membrane degassing process was also investigated. As a result, the hybrid type membrane degassing process showed better degassing performance (54.9 mg NH3/m2min for 360 min) than the sweep gas type (32.3 mg NH3/m2min) or vacuum type (22 mg NH3/m2min). Additionally, the hybrid type membrane degassing process showed an excellent ammonia selectivity (103 times compared to Na+ Na+, 133 times compared to Ca2+). The ammonia selectivity was appeared to be due to the conversion characteristics of ammonium ion / dissolved ammonia depending on pH. The results in this study are expected to be used in the development of ammonia wastewater treatment and ammonia recovery in the future.

  • This paper presents a hybrid control system combining lead rubber bearings and hydraulic actuators for seismic response control of a cable stayed bridge. Because multiple control devices are operating, a hybrid control system could improve the control performances. However, the overall system robustness may be impacted negatively by additional active control devices. Therefore, a secondary on-off type controller according to the responses of lead rubber bearings is combined with LQG algorithm to improve the controller robustness. Numerical simulation results show that control performances of the hybrid system controlled by an on off type LQG algorithm are improved compared to those of the passive and active control systems and are similar to those of performance oriented hybrid system controlled by a LQG algorithm with the similar peak and normed control forces. Furthermore, it is verified that the hybrid system with an on-off type LQG controller is more robust for stiffness matrix perturbation than conventional hybrid control of system, and there are no signs of instability in the overall system. The proposed control system also maintains the control performance under not only the design earthquakes but also the other earthquakes. Therefore, the hybrid control system using on-off type LQG algorithm could be proposed as an improved control strategy for seismically excited cable-stayed bridges containing many uncertainties.
