Numerical Design Method for Water-Lubricated Hybrid Sliding Bearings

  • This paper presents a new water-lubricated hybrid sliding bearing for a high speed and high accuracy main shaft system, along with the numerical method used for its design. The porous material for the restrictor and the restriction parameter were chosen based on the special requirements of the water-lubricated bearing. Subsequent numerical calculations give the load capacity, stiffness, and friction power of different forms of water-lubricated bearings. The pressure distribution of the water film in a 6-cavity bearing is shown, based on the results of the numerical calculations. A comparison of oil-lubricated and water-lubricated bearings shows that the latter benefits more from improved processing precision and efficiency. An analysis of the stiffness and friction power results shows that 6-cavity bearings are the preferred type, due their greater stiffness and lower friction power. The average elevated temperature was calculated and found to be satisfactory. The relevant parameters of the porous restrictor were determined by calculating the restriction rate. All these results indicate that this design for a water-lubricated bearing meets specifications for high speed and high accuracy.

Shock absorption of concrete liquid storage tank with different kinds of isolation measures

  • Concrete rectangular liquid storage tanks are widely used, but there are many cases of damage in previous earthquakes. Nonlinear fluid-structure interaction (FSI) is considered, Mooney-Rivlin material is used for rubber bearing, nonlinear contact is used for sliding bearing, numerical calculation models of no-isolation, rubber isolation, sliding isolation and hybrid isolation concrete rectangular liquid storage tanks are established; dynamic responses of different structures are compared to verify the effectiveness of isolation methods; and influences of earthquake amplitude, bidirectional earthquake and far-field long-period earthquake on dynamic responses are investigated. Results show that for liquid sloshing wave height, rubber isolation cause amplification effect, while sliding isolation and hybrid isolation have reduction effect; displacement of rubber isolation structure is much larger than that of sliding isolation with limiting-devices and hybrid isolation structure; when PGA is larger, wall cracking probability of no-isolation structure becomes larger, and probability of liquid sloshing wave height and structure displacement of rubber isolation structure exceeds the limit is also larger; under bidirectional earthquake, occurrence probabilities that liquid sloshing wave height and structure displacement of rubber isolation structure exceed the limit will be increased; besides, far-field long-period earthquake mainly influences structure displacement and liquid sloshing wave height. On the whole, control effect of sliding isolation is the best, followed by hybrid isolation, and rubber isolation is the worst.

저층 경량건물의 고성능 내진을 위한 복합면진시스템의 적용 (Application of Hybrid Seismic Isolation System to Realize High Seismic Performance for Low-rise Lightweight Buildings)

  • 이 논문에서는 저층 경량건물을 대상으로 고성능 내진을 구현하기 위하여 적용된 복합면진시스템의 적용효과가 비선형해석과 현장실험을 통하여 제시되었다. 이 연구에서 적용된 복합면진시스템은 슬라이딩베어링(sliding bearing)과 적층고무베어링(laminated rubber bearing)을 혼용하는 방법으로 전체 면진시스템의 고유주기를 신장시키는데 있어서 적층고무베어링이 지니는 한계를 극복하기 위한 것이다. 비선형해석결과, 복합면진시스템을 채용하여 설계된 면진건물은 아주 드물게 발생하는 강진에 대해서도 최대응답변위가 허용설계변위 이내이며, 최대응답전단력이 설계지진력 이하이므로 안전하게 유지될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 현장실험결과, 면진층의 강성은 설계 등가강성 값의 약 95.8%에 해당하는 값을 나타내 전체 면진시스템의 실제 특성이 설계값과 잘 일치하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

Seismic performance of hybrid isolation plate-shell integrated concrete LSS

  • To assess the seismic performance of Plate-Shell Integrated Concrete Liquid-Storage Structure (PSICLSS), a scaled test model was constructed. This model incorporated a hybrid isolation system, which combined shape memory alloy (SMA), lead-cored rubber isolation bearing (LRB) and sliding isolation bearing (SB). By conducting shaking table test, the dynamic responses of both non-isolated and hybrid-isolated PSICLSS were analyzed. The results show that the hybrid isolation system can effectively reduce the acceleration and displacement responses of the structure. However, it also results in an increase in local hydrodynamic pressure and liquid sloshing height. Under extreme earthquake action, the displacement of isolation layer is small. When vertical ground motion is taken into account, the shock absorption rate of horizontal acceleration decreases. The peak hydrodynamic pressure increases significantly, and the peak hydrodynamic pressure position also changes. The maximum displacement of isolation layer increases, the residual displacement decreases.

  • Tribological behaviors of carbon epoxy composites whose surfaces have many small grooves were compared with respect to coating method under dry sliding and water lubricating conditions. The surface coating materials were epoxy (Ep) and polyethylene (PE) mixed with self-lubricating $MoS_2$ and PTFE powders. The wear morphology of the composites observed with a scanning electron microscopic (SEM) revealed that the surface coating layer mixed with the self-lubricating powder on the grooved surface significantly improved the wear resistance under water lubricating condition because the surface coating layer blocked water to penetrate the composite surface and the self-lubricating powder reduced the wear on the coating by suppressing the generation of blisters.

도시생활권의 토석류 피해 저감을 위한 복합형 사방댐의 안정성 및 기능성 평가 (Evaluating Stability and Functionality of Hybrid Erosion Control Dam for Reducing Debris Flow Damage in Forested Catchment Nearby Urban Area)

  • 본 연구는 도시생활권의 특성을 고려한 재해예방용 사방댐을 개발하고, 현장에서의 활용성을 검토하기 위하여 안정성 및 기능성을 평가하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 필러와 바닥스크린을 활용한 토석류 방재댐과 수제를 활용한 토석류 제어댐 등 복합형 사방댐 2종을 개발하였고, 각 구조물의 정적(활동, 전도, 지지) 및 동적(부재력) 안정성을 검토하였다. 그 결과, 각 검토항목별로 충격력에 대한 안정성에 미달하는 경우도 일부 나타났으나, 대부분 항목에서 기준 안전율을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 개발된 사방댐을 토대로 축소모형을 제작하여 수로실험을 실시한 결과, 사방댐을 설치하지 않은 대조구에 비교하여 유하물의 퇴적범위와 퇴적속도를 감소시켰고, 포착율은 평균적으로 3.5배 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 추후 수행될 다양한 조건에서의 수로실험 결과를 바탕으로 개발된 도시생활권형 사방댐의 기능을 보다 정량적으로 구체화 할 수 있다면, 이를 도시생활권에 활용하여 산지토사재해 피해를 효과적으로 저감할 수 있을 것으로 기대되었다.
