  • Position controls are very important in semiconductor manufacturing devices, machine tools precision measuring instruments, etc. In this paper, a novel encoder of digital and analog hybrid type is proposed. It is shown that from this experiment a high-resolution angle measurement device can be designed by a low cost incremental encoder.

  • With increased interest in printed devices, various metal nano inks have been investigated as candidates materials for printed electrodes and wiring as well as conductive film substituting photo-lithography process. Recent advances in organic conductive polymer allow us to fabricate high performance printed device. Meanwhile, there was several attempts to fabricate conductive films by mixing conductive polymer with metal nano-particle or nano-wires. The presence of Ag nanowires in conductive polymer mixture have shown good potential in organic photovoltaic devices.

High-Efficiency Polymer-Titanium Oxide Hybrid Solar Cells

  • We report a new architecture for high efficiency polymer solar cells introducing a new concept of 'optical spacer' with new material. By implementing a novel solution-based titanium oxide ($TiO_{x}$) layer between the active layer and the electron collecting Al electrode, we invented a way to increase ${\sim}50\;%$ in power conversion efficiency compared to conventional polymer solar cells. Now the new devices exhibit ${\sim}6\;%$ power conversion efficiency, which is the highest value reported to date for a polymer based photovoltaic cell. The $TiO_{x}$ layer increases the efficiency by modifying the spatial distribution of the light intensity inside the device, thereby creating more photogenerated charge carriers in the bulk heterojunction layer.

  • 최근 모바일 단말 기술의 발전과 무선망의 성능 향상에 따른 다양한 서비스가 제공되고 있는 추세이며, 위치정보인식시스템과 결합된 서비스에 많은 관심이 높아졌다. 본고에서는 GPS(Global Positioning System)의 신호가 미치지 못하는 건물의 실내환경에 적합한 경로 안내서비스 및 지하시설물 안내 등 초정밀 실내 측위 서비스를 제공하기 위한 융합 측위 방안을 제안한다. 융합 측위 방안은 실내외 연속 측위를 위해 실외에서는 GPS를 이용하고 실내환경에서는 WLAN 기반의 측위 전용 AP(Access Point)를 이용, 전파신호의 LoS(Line of Sight)를 확보하여 측위하고 전파음영지역에서는 스마트폰의 가속도, 자이로센서 등 여러 가지 관성센서를 활용하여 PDR(Pedestrian Dead Reckoning) 알고리즘 등을 적용하여 측위한다. 또한 측위 정확도 향상 및 오차를 줄이기 위한 방법으로 LSE(Least Squire Estimation) 및 EKF(Extended Kalman Filter), KNN(K-Neighbor Node)/MSSM(Maximum Signal Strength Model) Algorithm 등 다양한 융합 측위 알고리즘을 적용하여 실내환경에 적합한 최적의 초정밀 실내 측위 서비스를 제공한다.

  • This paper introduces the key features of NCS (Network based Control System), which is quite a new concept in the industrial automation market. Two control systems "DCS" and "PLC" have been recognized as control systems used for process and factory automation during the past decades. However, the market requires more complex functionality, such as monitoring and operation, alarm handling and notification from remote locations using the Web or e-mail. Besides enhancing functionality, interoperability between each device and system is highly required since network and engineering tools provided by many vendors do not cooperate with each others, so that lots of conversion, reconfiguration and reprogramming are required when expanding systems. NCS can meet this requirement, installing leading-edged IT technology using international standards for network and engineering environment. NCS, which is a harmony of web functionality, networkability and a reliable control function, enables information integration and responding to the market's requirements with agility and high reliability.

Design of broad-band impedance matching networks for hybrid microwave amplifier applications (하이브리드 마이코로파 광대역 증폭기용 임피던스 정합회로 설계)

  • In this paper, the synthesis procedufe of impedance matching network is presented for broad-band microwave amplifier design, whereby amplifier operating in the octave bandwidth is designed and fabricated in detail. The transfer function of the matching netowrks is synthesized by chebyshev approximation and element values for the networks of specified topology are calculatd for various MILs and ripples. After the transistor is modeled by negative-image device model, the synthesis procedure for matching networks is applied to broad-band amplifier design which has electrical performance of about 12dB gain in 4 to 8GHz range. Experimental results obtained from the fabricated amplifier are shown to approach the electrical performance designed in the given frequency range. Construction of the impedance matching networks by transfer function synthesis is very useful method for the design of broad-band microwave amplifiers.

  • Fault currents characteristics contain decaying DC offset. First cycle peak value of fault currents is higher than steady-state fault current value. These characteristics can affect the operation of protective device. To reduce the asymmetric fault current, the method using a series connection of two hybrid-type Superconducting Fault Current Limiter(SFCL) components, an auxiliary SFCL and a main SFCL, has been proposed. The auxiliary SFCL limits the first half cycle fault current, while main SFCL limits the steady state fault currents. This paper proposed a decision method of the optimal insertion resistance of auxiliary and main SFCL components. To verify the effectiveness of proposed scheme, the various simulations are performed by using Electromagnetic Transient Program(EMTP).

  • We have designed a novel single cell gap transflective display associated with dual orientation of the liquid crystal. Owing to hybrid alignment in reflective part, the effective cell retardation value becomes half of cell retardation value in transmissive part where the LCs are homogeneously aligned. This study shows the possibility to manufacture the transflective display with a single gamma curve for reflective and transmissive region. The new device shows a high image quality with relatively easy fabrication.

  • Control system for cutting piston used in vehicle that is one of the 3D shape cutting using CNC lathe is presented. In order to cut the hybrid piston shape using CNC lathe, defined piston shape and change into machine code. The control software was developed for the high speed piston shape cutting. In this paper, the performance of this software was evaluated practically. As a result, the evaluated cutting precision was quantitatively compared with theoretical precision. Also the productivity and the quality by using CNC lathe with control software were evaluated those by using profiling.

  • The axial bearing using two ring type permanent magnets to support the weight of a flywheel is proposed to reduce the bearing loss in a flywheel energy storage , system. Two permanent magnet makes stable force in axial direction but unstable force in lateral direction. The lateral unstable stiffness is identified quantitatively using flux analysis, and then through the rotor dynamic analysis on a rigid flywheel system the unstable effects on the system by the stiffness is investigated.
