  • A mathematical model (hybrid arc model) for arc behaviour in an $SF_6$ puffer gas-blast circuit-breaker has been developed. It has adopted the advantages of integral method and differential method. The method has been applied to model puffer circuit breaker of Noeske et al and good agreement of critical RRRV(Ratio of Rise of Recovery Voltage) has been obtained. Axial or radial distributions of temperature, electric field and arc radius are also presented and analyzed.

고속도 개극 시의 복합소호 가스차단기의 차단특성 (Interruption Capability of Hybrid Type GCB with High Opening Speed)

  • This paper presents the basic design technology on the hybrid type GCB(gas circuit breakers) through the test results. The three type hybrid interrupters according to the arrangement of the thermal expansion chamber and the puffer cylinder(they are called 'serial type', ' parallel/exchanged type ,' and ' parallel/separated type ' respectively in this work) were designed and manufactured and then the tests of operating characteristics and interrupting were performed using a simplified synthetic test facility. The interruption capability with the type and the opening speed and the pressure rise which is required to interrupt were examined. The change of pressure rise with the number of interruption was given quantitatively and therefore the pressure rise can be predicted. Finally, it was shown that the interruption capability tends to increase with the increasing of opening speed in the puffer type; however, the hybrid type interrupter has a different interruption characteristic.

  • The application of large power transformer into a power distribution system was inevitable due to the increase of power demand and distributed generation. However, the decrease of the power transformer's impedance caused the short-circuit current of the power distribution system to be increase thus, the higher short-circuit current exceeded the cut-off ratings of the protective devices such as circuit breaker. To solve these problems, several countermeasures have been proposed to protect the power system effectively from higher fault current and the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) has been expected to be the promising countermeasure. In spite of excellent current limiting performances of the SFCL, on the other hand, the efforts to apply the SFCL into power system has been delayed due to both the limited spaces for the SFCL's installation and its long recovery time after the fault removal. In order to solve these problems, a hybrid SFCL, which can perform either first half cycle limiting of first half cycle non-limiting operation, has been developed by corporation of LSIS (LS Industrial System) and KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation). In this paper, we tried to requirements hybrid SFCL by PSCAD/EMTDC. Simulation results of our analysis of the hybrid SFCL is that its accompanied the characteristics both the limit the fault current and quick recovery caused by the less impact from superconductor.

직렬형 하이브리드 굴절차량용 대용량 LPB 팩의 적용 및 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation for Application of Large Capacity LPB Pack Equipped to Series Hybrid Articulated Vehicle)

  • Newly developed Series hybrid low-floor articulated vehicle which can meet both road and railway running conditions. It has the rated driving speed of 80 km/h and three driving modes with hybrid(engine+battery) driving mode, engine driving mode, battery driving mode. The battery driving mode requires the several 10 km running without additional charging operation. The vehicle has been equipped with LPB (lithium polymer battery) pack for the series hybrid propulsion system. LPB pack consists of 168 cells (3.7 V in a cell, 80 Ah) in series, DC Circuit breaker, mechanical rack, BMS (battery management system). This paper has shown the design process of LPB pack and application to the vehicle. Driving results in the road was successful to be satisfied with the requirement of the series hybrid vehicle.

  • In order to develop a medium voltage class gas circuit breaker by our own technology, we designed and manufactured the model interrupters using the hybrid arc extinguishing principle which adopts the thermal expansion principle in the large current region and the arc rotation principle by permanent magnet in the small current region. As the results of the first year research out of three years' research period, the main design parameters such as the volume of thermal expansion chamber, the distance between fixed contact and nozzle, the length of nozzle throat, the nozzle expansion angle and the magnitude of permanent magnet etc. have been determined. 4 types of model interrupters have been designed and manufactured considering the main design parameters. The 25kA short-circuit test and capacitive current breaking test have been performed for the model interrupters and the test results analyzed to improve the model interupters.

  • 손쉬운 제어성, 운용성 등 다양한 이유로 디지털 부하가 급증하고 있고 이와 함께 부하의 소비 패턴은 직류화 되고 있다. 그러나 공급되는 전력은 교류 전원이므로 실질적으로 필요로 하는 부하의 공급 전원인 직류 전원을 만족하기 위하여 교류 전원을 다시 직류로 변환하여 사용하고 있다. 태양광, 풍력, 연료전지 등 신재생 에너지원의 경우 직류 발전을 하는 발전원으로 교류로 변환을 통해 계통에 유입되고 다시 직류로 변환되어 부하에 공급하게 되는 다단 변환을 하게 되어 손실은 지속적으로 증가하게 된다. 에너지원의 효율적인 사용을 위한 직류 기반의 배전 시스템이 필요로 하나, 부하뿐만 아니라 보호 기능을 구현하기 위한 직류 배선용 차단기의 개발이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 영구 자석을 이용한 아크 소호 기술과 하이브리드 아크 소호 기술을 이용한 직류 아크 소호 기술에 대한 연구를 통하여 안정적인 직류 배전 시스템 운용을 위한 계통 및 기기 보호가 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

  • The Hybrid Fault current limit combined the semiconductor switching components, for example IGBT, with mechanical fast switch reduced mechanical and thermal stress on electrical machines, for example circuit breaker, transformer, and so on, in the electric network. We had focused on reducing the voltage stress of the semiconductor switching components by the mechanical fast switch. As a result, we could dramatically reduce amount of semiconductor switching components only using parallel arrangement of them, not series.

Lightning Impulse Breakdown Characteristic of Dry-Air/Silicone Rubber Hybrid Insulation in Rod-Plane Electrode

  • Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas is used widely in electric power equipment such as Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), Gas Insulation transmission Line (GIL), and Gas Circuit Breaker (GCB). But applications of SF6 should be restricted because SF6 gas is one of the greenhouse effect gases. To reduce use of SF6 gas, a study on eco-friendly alternative insulation medium is needed. In this paper, we investigated lightning impulse (LI) breakdown of dry-air which is attracting attention as an ecofriendly alternative gas and the LI breakdown of hybrid insulation combined with dry-air and solid insulation (Room-Temperature Vulcanizing Silicone Rubber-RTV SIR) and dry-air in inhomogeneous fields according to gap distance and pressure. The experiment results showed that the LI breakdown strength of hybrid insulation system was higher than that of dry-air insulation system. It was verified that the development of technology related to eco-friendly power apparatus compact such GIS, GCB and GIL can be used as basic research data.

  • 기존에 사용되고 있는 초고압 가스차단기(GCB : gas circuit breaker)는 대부분 퍼퍼형(puffer type) 소호방식의 가스 차단기를 사용하였다. 퍼퍼형 소호방식은 차단동작에 있어서 대단히 큰 조작력이 요구되고 소호부 size가 큰 단점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 아크 자체의 에너지를 아크 소호에 필요한 압력상승을 일으키는 데 이용하는 자력소호방식(self-extingishing type)에 작은 체적의 퍼퍼 실린더를 병용하는 복합소호방식(hybrid extingishing type) 차단부가 개발되어 사용이 확대되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 차단기의 소호방식별 특성을 비교 분석하고 최근 사용이 확대되고 있는 복합소호방식 차단기의 고장사례 분석을 통해 개선대책을 제시하였다.

스프링구동 캠에서 마찰과 스프링운동이 동적응답에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Spring Dynamics and Friction on Dynamic Responses in a Spring-Driven Cam)

  • The paper presents the influence of spring dynamics and friction on dynamic responses in a spring-driven cam system. The characteristics of the friction on the camshaft are analyzed using the nonlinear pendulum experiment while the parameters of the friction model are estimated using the optimization technique. The analysis reveals that the friction of the camshaft depends on stick-slip, Stribeck effect and viscous damping. Spring elements are found to have much influence on the dynamic characteristics. Hence, they are modeled as four-degree-of-freedom lumped masses with equivalent springs. The appropriateness of the derived friction model and spring model is verified by its application to a vacuum circuit breaker mechanism of the cam-follower type.
